Takamatsu Tokyu REI Hotel
Reviewed 19 June 2014

This hotel is in a good location, halfway between the JR railway and downtown shopping area (about 10 minute walk to either). We stayed for 8 nights so the room size was challenging, especially as there is only one chair provided. However, as we only had one large luggage, we found it adequate. We liked that we had the opportunity to reuse the bedlinen for a couple of nights if we wished, but we did not like that we couldn't open the window for fresh air; the air conditioner was very noisy and we hardly used it except to freshen up the room. The on-site Shangri-La restaurant did not have any meat-free options but we found plenty of cheap and very satisfactory restaurants in the arcades. The best value meals were at Tenkatsu, a fish restaurant close by on the west end of Hyogomachi arcade.

It's really an ok hotel. You're able to wash your clothes in the lobby which if you're traveling around is really nice, it is also a lot cheaper than the usual cleaning. Some of the small extras services are missing in the bathroom, but my room was ok in size compared to some of the other places I've stayed in Japan. The location is good. I'd stay here again.

Short walk from the train station ( 10 minutes).
Staff were the friendliest we have come across at any Tokyu Inn. What annoys me is when people comment of the staff's level of English ( have you forgotten your in Japan, stop moaning and learn some of the language !!)
Room was spotless with a lovely comfortable bed, affording a really good nights sleep. We had none of the problems that others mention such as noise and poor ventilation
Breakfast was plentiful and good choice.( However the seating area was small, so if the place is busy may have to wait to get a table)
Takamatsu is a lovely town and we will definitely come back

I was in Takamatsu in the period of 3-8 Aug. 2014, attending to a conference. To me Tokyu Inn is excellent. The rooms are really clean and I mean it, really clean. The staff are polite and helping, but they speak english to a very low extent, but it doesn't bother you at all because they are so helping and do everything. The price is really good in comparison with other hotels in Takamatsu. The rooms are not so big but they are clean. Sleeping stuff's quality is nice too.
There is something about the window and that is you cannot open it. But there is an air purifier in your room so you do not have to worry about the smell of the smoke, if your room is a smoking one.

Room Tip: rooms to the street have better views, especially higher floors

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights this week with my collegue; the room is a bit small, but nice. Located just right in front of hyogomachi shopping centre, 10 minutes walk to ferry port/train station, and 30 minutes bus to airport.

The service was great during my stay here, but unfortunately i was a bit disappointed with the cigarette smell though my room supposed to be non-smoking room. The air ventilation is not good, hardly to get the fresh air in the room, but they did give an air purifier in the room.

I love their breakfast menu as they offered a huge variation of menu from japanesse to western and tasted delicious.

I was travelling with my 19 year old son and we met up with a Japanese friend for 4 nights at this hotel.

The reviews on Tripadvisor for this hotel weren't so good and I wanted to stay at Dormy Inn but this hotel was my friend's choice. She booked on the Japanese hotel website and got a good rate 10,000 yen per night for 2 people in a twin room including breakfast.

I had two main concerns: noise and poor ventilation.

We had room 908 which overlooked the road, quite a large one.It was noisy despite double galzing of the window. There was a pedestrian crossing on the busy street below with an annoying auditory signal for hearing impaired .

The air-conditioning apparently wasn't working at that time of the year (first week of December).A special key, used by a staff member, was required to open or lock the window and I didn't want it open at night because of noise from the street .They did offer an air purifier.

The room itself was quite good with 2 large very firm size single beds and enough room for 2 suitcases.Bathroom had bath and basic shower fittings.

The breakfast was excellent, the best thing about our visit. It included cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs as well as Japanese breakfast items.

Reception was on the second floor.Their English was not so good but they were very kind and helpful.

They organised luggage forwarding and recommended an absolutely amazing seafood restaurant nearby called Tenkatsu. The food was very good but the concept of bar seating around a large inground pool for the fish was an outstanding feature! We went twice.

We used Takamatsu as a base to explore, using public transport, Naoshima, Oboke gorge and Naruto (whirlpools and Otsuka museuem). The hotel was about 10 minutes walk from the station/port. The only time we used a bus was to go to the famous garden.

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT overlooking the street.

This hotel is very well situated at walking distance from the ferry port and from both the JR and Kotoden train stations. It is functional and well kept but the rooms ( ours was supposed to be a superior double ) are small in comparison with those of other Tokyu inns we visited during our trip. Not really suitable for longer stays. The breakfast room is very impersonnal.
