“If you really have to go to Kazakhstan”
Reviewed 21 July 2012 via mobile

I had to go to Kazakhstan on business and had this hotel recommended to me by a Russian colleague. Normally this doesn't guarantee it will be ok but in this instance I was very pleasantly surprised. It is an apart hotel so the rooms are very spacious, air conditioned (a must at this time of year) and kept very clean. The reception staff are very helpful and cheerful with a reasonable understanding of English. Very competitively priced rooms normally means sacrifices elsewhere. In this case not true. Breakfast is really good with a wide choice to suit all tastes. The restaurant area is really very good and although I only used it once I wished I had used more often as the food wa good and accompanied BT a good house of wines. If you have some spare time a very nice beach area is well within walking distance with clean sea and sand in abundance. The locals are very friendly and I felt quite safe at all times. The same cant be said for the airport unfortunately. Be very wary of the immigration staff. They are always looking for a way to stiff you for a bribe. They will accuse you of being drunk and take you to a room for a sobriety test here you pay around 10 euros to be set free so I advise keeping a small amount of local currency just in case. If you stand your ground though they will usually backdown after staring at each page of your passport for ages. However I can recommend the hotel without any problem. If you have to go to Aktau it's well worth a try
