I spent there three weeks and liked it not too much. The staff speaks relatively good english, the breakfast is quite ok. The rooms have a good size but I didn't like the one I had first - it was at the street side and was very noisy! In general you can say that you hear lots of things you don't want to hear. Having german TV was good. In my opinion it's too expensive.

Room Tip: Take a room that's not on the street side!

Stayed here for 2 nights and it's fine. Got a deal through booking.com so I think I paid about 100 euros, and that price is fair. Staff speak English and are helpful enough. It is quite old and dated, but I didn't care.
Could hear a party going on next door and it sounded like someone was enjoying it.

If this hotel matches your location's purposes, you can use it for stay in almaaty. Looks like privatefamily hotel.
The restaurant on 1st floor is opened all day long, offering food by reasonable price. Staff in reception is very friendly and helpfull. Rooms are very big. In geheral hotel is very primitive

I was the Project Manager for refurbishment project of this hotel in 2002.
It is a very old building which was a Soviet Hotel before the breakdown but the building is still quite strong.
Some of the rooms are are very small and some of the bigger but no standardized size.
Have some connected rooms as well.

No good fitness or a pool.
There was casino at the basement but it is converted into a pub with live music.

The restaurant is more Turkish food.
They serve business open buffet lunch every weekdays.
It is a very dark restaurant and have outdoor lifted sidewalk seating as well.
There is parking behind the hotel but very limited.
Lobby is very small.

Half of the ground floor have guest rooms which I would not recommend.
Front facade rooms are good but the street is very noisy, rear face rooms are looking to a small park.

Only very good thing is location.

Room Tip: Front facade rooms are very noisy. Also do not prefer the rooms at the ground floor.

Low quality place. It is lacking maintenance all over the place. The staff does not grasp the concept of privacy, they entered into my room 3 times while I was having nap (trying to adjust to 11 hours of time zone difference) to check minibar consumption, and two other things that while spoke in Kazak I didn;t get. Staff does not speak English, the shower sucks, the place is not clean and the only real advantage is a decent location. Stay away from this place if at all possible,

well, in general there are not too many options of high quality accommodation and prices are really high for the provided service in Almaty. If you're looking for a swimming pool, gym and other luxury, this is not your place, otherwise it's all right. Especially, staff is great - very helpful and friendly.
