We stayed in Tawi in June 2013. We only stayed two nights however it was part of our plan to do a couple of days safari and then have some island time in Tanzania.

We stayed overnight in Nairobi first and then got picked up and taken to the domestic airport early doors. On arrival in Amboseli we were greeted with true African hospitality. Blankets, coffee, biscuits and a 4x4 to ourselves. We were driven to Tawi and the ranger made sure we had a good sneak preview of the landscape on the way.

The resort is gorgeous. Only 13 villas as I remember, with beautiful fit out, comfortable beds and very spacious. The verandas were private, overlooking the bush.

The resort is family run and the meals are set menus but different every day and they will consider dietary needs. We had sundowner drinks in the bush and fantastic early morning cold safaris. Again, all beverages provided and we had our own ranger for the two of us.

Tawi was excellent for its privacy and exclusivity, with an amazing lodge with roaring fires and welcoming drinks. The atmosphere was fantastic and we felt very relaxed the whole time, with just the right amount if attention from the staff.

Would highly recommend Tawi, especially for couples who want to get away.

Began our two week safari in Kenya and Tanzania here. What a baptism. Mt. Kilimanjaro bathed in the dawn glow is jaw dropping. We started and ended each day listening to the elephants, zebras and other animals rustling about the local watering hole. Felt as though we were one with nature. Couldn't have felt more welcome or cared for. The experience stayed with us well beyond our time there.

We stayed at Tawi Lodge for four nights in July 2013 and had the most incredible stay. It's a gorgeous place to stay - our room was incredible - and to have a bath in the beautiful tub looking out over Mt Kili is just spectacular. Manager Ron Guijs was so welcoming and the food each day just incredible. We had some car trouble on arrival and Ron and his team were beyond helpful. They came out to meet us on the day we arrived as our car was broken down en route and our tour guide happened to be a dab hand at car mechanics too! I think you'd struggle to find somewhere to stay in Amboseli which can rival Tawi - the rooms are incredible, the service outstanding, the food delicious and I highly recommend the spa - waking up from a massage to see a herd of elephant quietly walking by - just phenomenal. We also really liked the approach of Tawi and the team on the safari drives - you go out on an open vehicle (and not in the cramped minibuses so many of the package tour operators seem to use) so you get a much closer experience, but our tour guide was also very respectful of the animals and we saw how a lioness was actually prevented from hunting by the mass of safari tour buses who rushed in so people could take a photo. Our guide actually refused to do that and stayed back - and we went elsewhere - and saw plenty of game away from all the crowds. Our guide knew every bird and tree and was an incredible source of knowledge and it's clear that the approach of Tawi is one of quality and a serious commitment to conservation. Just an incredible, wonderful place to stay.

Room Tip: They're all amazing! All rooms are in their own banda with decks and views out to Mt Kili. The r...

Tawi Lodge is the hidden secret of Amboseli...few things are better to a nice hot bath, seeing the mighty Kilimanjaro from the tub...a must experience! Apart from this, the bio pool is great, the views, the daily visits from the elephants, friendly staff and delicious food...Staying in the Lodge is almost as good as going on the safari!

Room Tip: Any room is better than perfect, and they will all have the Kili view!

Stunning Eco lodge. Small and cosy. Run by a fantastic couple. The staff are friendly, rooms Are very comfortable and food is great. It's slightly away from the park so you have to drive to see the main game, but well worth the drive.

Tawi Lodge was one of the highlights of my trip. I am a frequent traveler to Africa and Tawi hit it right on all points. The cuisine was some of the best I have had in Kenya. General Manager Ron Guijs has an impressive background as an international chef and it shows in every course and every bite. The staff was knowledgable and gracious and the entire grounds were tasteful, romantic and impeccable. Couldn't have been better!

it is always the things that you did not even expect to get that makes a wonderful place to a SUPER wonderful place. We only looked for a nice place to spend a night after a gem drive. What we found is a warm welcoming crew and many many small extras.
The 15 rooms are fairly separated from each other, from almost any point of the room (including the bath tab) you have a spectacular view of the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro while the wild nature is all around you. The rooms themselves are excellently designed and decorated.
A special applause for the chef: from simple salad to the fine main dish of the dinner it it is all on the highest level.
Ah... Yes.. did I mention 70 type of wine?
