“Terrific experience - Luxury with Nature”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Our stay at Campi Ya Kanzi was the perfect way to end our 3 week safari/trekking trip in Tanzania, from our pick up at a isolated grass runway, the amazing views from the little airplane, welcome greetings from the staff, fine wine & delicious meals, the lanterns at Tempo house for evening meals to the nightly wake up calls from the hyenas, every detail is looked after by the wonderful and attentive staff. Sunte and Matasha our guides for hikes and sundowners were professional, fun and knowledgeable - ( elephants never forget !) We will never forget sitting on our outside deck relaxing with a glass of wine watching the zebras and giraffes at the watering hole. A visit to the village showed firsthand the important work that the trust does supporting the health and education of the community as well as the conservation projects. Thank you to everyone at Camp Ya Kanzi ! Doug & Janice

I came here with my Mother and Father in June of 2014. It was the conclusion to our month-long safari in Tanzania and Kenya. It is safe to say that we wished we spent our entire month at this wonderful camp! Having travelled world-wide, it is the most picturesque, unfathomable, stunningly gorgeous location that I have ever visited. The staff are extraordinary and tend to your every need, the food is extraordinary, and the safari options are incredible. The walking is the only thing we wanted to do. Having spent a month on game drives, all we wanted to do was go for hikes, and there were so many opportunities to do so! The Chyulu Hills are something truly special, not to be missed by anyone! Luca and Antonella have established such an incredible operation - we hope to be back sometime very very soon! Thanks to the Campi ya Kanzi family for such an life-changing safari experience!

My wife and I discovered Campi Ya Kanzi during our 1st honeymoon 4 years ago. We decided to go back to Campi Ya Kanzi for our 2nd honeymoon and it was even better. Luca and Antonella are amazing people and they have surrounded themselves with incredible staff. Our guides Parashi and Matasha were very knowledgeable and fun to hike with. The food at camp was extraordinary, mainly italian cuisine and our accommodations were breathtaking. Although we were offered sundowner excursions every night, one night I chose to stay at our suite to view the Kilimanjaro sunset from our porch.
On several occasions we chose to skip the game drive and just hike into the Chyulu hills, hiking is not something we were able to do at the other lodges so we took full advantage while at Campi Ya Kanzi. Hiking for hours without seeing another human is such a unique experience, we live in Los Angeles so you have to wait in line to hike here.
I can't say enough about Campi Ya Kanzi, it holds a special place in our hearts and we will be going back there as long as our legs will carry us.

Room Tip: Simba Suite is close to the water hole and we saw wildlife from our suite everyday.

Campi Ya Kanzi is a stunning lodge in the Chyulu Hills. We felt welcomed and our every need met in this wonderful family run lodge. Luca and Antoniella Belpietro are deeply passionate about their surroundings and the local people. The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust is the most genuine, well run Trust concentrating its efforts not just on Conservation, but Education and Health as well. Stephano, the camp manager is a delightful knowledgable man, our 2 guides Pashit and Sunte made sure we did all the things we love doing and their knowledge of the wildlife and the birds was first class. We had some beautiful walks, especially in the forest and stunning sundowners; nothing was too much trouble. The cuisine was to die for and to have supper with other guests is always a pleasure, as there are always interesting, passionate people at places like this who teach you things you might never have discovered.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Hemingway room, which had a great view of the waterhole and Kilimanjaro.

To celebrate a 75 th birthday we spent some days in Campi ya Kanzi. We found fantastic people and Luca and Donatella do a fantastic work and we hope they will find more success in the future in their huge task. The nature is gorgeous and breathtaking and a beautiful flight in the front of the Kilimanjaro gives even an extra dimension to the stay which is unforgettable.

First time on the southern side of the Chyulus. Totally unspoilt. Not a phone mast or road in sight! And at Campi ya Kanzi, a chance to interact with the Maasai... and enjoy breathtaking views of Kili. A step back in time not to be missed.

After my mother passed in 2007, we decided to go on a family vacation in her remembarance.
My father, three sisters, mums best friend and I decided to go to Africa. My mother had a big connection and fell in love with the continent when she went there herself a few years earlier.

After arriving in Nairobi we were picked up by a smaller aircraft that was going to take us to Campi Ya Kanzi. Exciting and like a child in a candy store we were flying over beautiful plains and saw elephants, giraffes and other wildlife below us.

Landing on a grass strip was quite the experience and we were personally greeted by the owners and founders of this amazing place. Taken to the lodges in Land Rover Defenders, pretty cool, we were there greeted by a large group of Massaai people who work at the lodges in cooperation to preserve the land and culture.

We then had a lovely lunch, were guided to our 'tents' and immediately after went for our first game drive to see some wildlife. Driving through the land in open jeeps makes you feel like you're part of the environment and wasn't scary at all.
We saw wildebeasts, amazing birds and other animals that took our breath away and made us feel like a child in a candystore. "Ooh look at that, look over there!" Fun and bonding.
In the meantime we were informed by our driver Samson about the Massaai fund and the lodges and what Campi Ya Kanzi means.

When we arrived back at the lodges and sat down to have a delicious meal with the owners and other guests we started to realise what an amazing experience this was. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but we took the time to feel blessed to be together.

We were escorted personally to the lodges as there is a chance of running into wildlife while you're walking to your tent, which didn't scare me at all as I felt completely safe with my escort.
Before closing the tent for a good night sleep I was asked if I would prefer coffee or tea with my wake-up call at 05:00am, felt like a princess and had an amazing rest.

All in all I can advice anybody who has an affinity or curiosity towards Africa and the wildlife experience to travel to Campi Ya Kanzi. I've heard that they are now expanding and have a pool and larger relaxing area. We didn't miss that while we were there, but it is a welcome asset.

Visiting Kenya changed my life. I get goose bumps whenever I think back of the smell, the people, the amazing experience, the animals, everything. If I ever get the opportunity I would leave my little flat country and everything behind to go to my Africa, the Kilimanyaro, the place I fell in love with.

* I travelled to this location in December 2007 but I can't go back that far with the dates on tripadvisor. Therefor I selected December 2012.
