Though there is not much to see in the church as one would expect when they hear the word Church.. It's a very basic and simple building which has a history, so if you in the area do visit .. Google maps is not accurate, so ask local don't follow the map.

This church was built by Vasco da Gama in the late fifteenth century and has withstood many years of conflict and weathering. It has some old graves beside it including of his fellow sea-men who died in his voyage about the year 1493

This is an interesting place to visit if you are interested in the history of east Africa, particularly the religious aspects of it. It shows how the Europeans used religion to relate to Africans in East Africa.
The place has a caretaker who clearly has memorized the historical aspects, however it would do with a facelift.
It is run and manged by the National Museums of Kenya. You get one ticket to visit both the church and the Vasco Da Gamma pillar which is not very far off.

We visited the Portuguese Church as part of our ticket which also include a visit to the Malindi Museum and the Vasco da Gama Pillar (ticket cost is about $6). This little church is very simple but spirit-filled. The young guide was very helpful in explaining the church's history. Although the items in church have seen better days, it was still heart-warming to spend time there. There is a small cemetary on the church grounds that is fascinating to walk through. Make sure to check if and when Mass is being held at the Church in case you have the chance to attend.

This small location hardly an 1/8th of a plot is packed with history. Our guide took time to narrate to us us the history of the place and we sat in the chapel. Even those days, the portuguese carried guns into church for protection.
