“History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

This landmark reminds you of the long history of our Kenyan coast and the valiant sailors who braved the elements and the unknown to sail these seas in rickety vessels all those years ago.

“Nothing special”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

Maybe it's an important place but there's nothing special. You can stand 10 meters left or right from this place, see exactly the same and don't have to pay for it..

“A Moment Back in Time”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

Standing next to the pillar and wondering what the Portuguese saw, felt, thought or planned during their 15th Century conquest of the coast was the best moment during this excursion. It is a must visit for history lovers but anyone who doesn't know/care about history may find this attraction boring to say the least.

“Vasco da Gamma Pillar”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2014

for the truth I do not understand, nor building pretty, neither turned out to be big or interesting. I can not write anything positive... I got the impression that they put it to the list during trip to Malindi to make offer sound better-waste of time..I did not even take a pictures.

“Standing History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2014

The Vasco da Gamma pillar is literally standing history, commemorating the first ever landing of a European on the East Coast of Africa in the 15th Century.
The pillar has been re-erected severally and is currently manged by the Museum of Malindi. You have to get a ticket to view it at close range.
