The only thing missing was a Bounty Bar.lol.....remember those ads from the 70's?
Well the beach was amazing with small crabs darting across the pure white sand and diving down into their holes, and eels in the rock pools, the beach is steeped with nature and history, it would be so easy to miss out on the best bits. There is a guide Nemo who you will find on the beach (turn right from Turtle Bay Beach Hotel and go to the small white kiosk). He will take you on a very informative guided tour of the beach and a nature tour of the nearby creek, he is an expert in African nature, history and culture and loves to share his knowledge, so you can really appreciate the location so much more.. If you would like to see and photograph the monkeys ask Nemo to call them for you.........he's like Doc Doolittle , a real affinity with animals ,he took me near to the Turtle Bay hotel and there were no monkeys to be seen, he did a monkey call and five appeared and came up real close, I got some amazing photographs. He can arrange any trip for you from bird watching to safaris to cultural sites, and he will customize them to meet your needs, his trips are the most educational and informative that I have ever experienced in any country.

The landscape of Watamu beaches is amazing: long white sandy beaches and islands becoming hills when tide is low, make this place unique. The lack of infrastructures (unless you are not in a resort) make the beaches very wild but not suitable for families. The reef is quite dead and not comparable to other reefs (Red sea or Maldives) but if you are a scuba diver you can enjoy the whale sharks and manta passage in January-February. The watamu reef is also the 3rd most important coral reef for nudibranchia.

A beautiful white sand beach, with funny crabs speeding across. There are algae in some areas though, and the occasional jelly fish stings you in the water.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Malindi is a great place because it is a city with access to many amenities like banks, supermarkets etc, but the beach can sometimes be polluted by the flooding nearby Sabaki river. The beach then becomes full of leaves and the water is brownish. Not so in watamu. The sand is clean and the water clear throughout the year.
My only problem was the many beach boys, who assume everybody to be Italian. They have no respect for privacy.
