“great food and view”

good quality food and is consistent. the only thing is that chez sami is pricy!! you would still enjoy your meal, and they always serve you complementary deserts and coffee at the end of the meal.

“Great food but tooo expensive!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014

Food was very good. The fish is excellent and everything else was tasty. Only problem is, it's very very expensive.

“Location Great Food Not”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

As far as location, decor, and ambiance it doesn't get better than this. Located on the beach just north of Beirut this is one of the most awesome settings you can ever have dinner at. The service throughout was average. The food on the other had was simply awful. The fatoche salad was not edible. It was extremely sour, too much sumac and lemon. The hoummos was tasteless. The worst part was the fish. At $150 for 1.5 kgs the fish was dry and had hardly any meat. The only thing that saved the night was dessert which was very good. This is an expensive restaurant which you are paying for the view and not much else.

“Awesome outdoor seating”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

Went for dinner last night for 9 persons. Beautiful lay out above a sandy beach. Met the new French Chef Gregory who developed an exquisite French seafood menu on the beach side of the restaurant. Delicious fried fish with out of the world Fattouch. The place was full and convivial. Service was attentive, excellent uniform for the staff.
Some suggestions: I would prefer a more comfortable chairs even though it is meant to be authentic, as most of the customers stayed more than 2 hours. The placemats need to be more colorful as the table set up was very ordinary. Please change the cutlery to fit the whole seafood experience, and kindly use a linen table napkin as this is a high standard offering.
I did not see a black jacket manager touring the tables and inquiring for guest satisfaction, nor an hostess at the entrance.
Overall great place, on the expensive side.

“Consistency is the middle name”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

I must have been to Chez Sami 100 times over the last 30 years. Sami was the friendly owner and cook that he passed on to his son some 20 years ago. The restaurant changed place twice to finally settle right above a little stretch of sand where little waves come and make a beautiful soothing sound. There is a choice of indoor or outdoor seating, although the outdoor seating is a must on any day weather permits!!
Chez Sami has not once failed in serving perfect fish -- this is their specialty. Their fattoush salad is the best in town and, for the tourists who are afraid of getting the 'turista' ... they wash all their vegetables with an anti-bacterial product.
Have some Sultan Brahim -- it is fried but ohhh sooo goood! Have a Dorade sashimi where you chose the fish itself and they prepare it sashimi style for you. Have a Loukoz and it will melt in your mouth, on the grill or in sea salt.
The service is one of the best in town because they have maintained the same waiters over the years. They know their business and are efficient.
A recommendation: ask that your main course dish be prepared as soon as you sit down, as they usually wait until you have finished your appetizers to start the cooking but that usually takes some time.
