Stayed, or should I say attempted to stay there for 2 nights. The first night we got locked out when we returned to the Auberge Suisse at 2:45am. Despite several people banging on the door and ringing all door bells for a good 10 minutes we were not let in. We had to take a taxi back into Fareiha and book another hotel room. When we complained the next morning staff did not even apologize for the inconvenience and blamed everyone else but themselves. The "manager" promised that he would inquire about a refund with Ski-leb but every time we tried to speak to him thereafter he was "unavailable" or in "meetings". We left the hotel without any refund for the rooms that we paid for but were not able to use.... even after hours of arguing with them. Basically we ended up paying 300$ for a double and a triple room at the Auberge Suisse, which we were not able to use and then paid another 90$ at another hotel where we had to sleep crammed together in our clothes without any toothbrush etc. We might as well have stayed at the Intercon for this kind of money.

The second night we did manage to get into the Auberge Suisse at night. However, the next morning there was no running water in the whole place until about noon time. This as well as us having to argue with staff for hours about our refund made us miss our last day of skiing.

All in all I have to say this place is an absolute rip off. All they do at the Auberge Suisse is to take your money (and mind you you can not get a room below 100$) and provide nothing much in return. Staff are extremely rude and incompetent , the breakfast is awful (my cappuccino had chunks of powder the size of wall nuts in it and was undrinkable) and the rooms are in bad condition (one of the rooms did not have a working toilet for the complete duration of our stay).

I agree with the statement above ‘Avoid at all cost’. I have stayed in hostels, backpackers and 5 star hotels alike while on ski trips. The accommodation is very very poor for the standard portrayed via Skileb and the hotel website, I feel sorry for Paul who is left to be the guest facing member of staff for the whole operation. It seems whoever owns this place is only interested in running it as cheap as possible and not investing in any level of comfort or service. We did not mention our opinion to Skileb as we didn’t see anybody from Skileb. My advice would be save your money and book a better place online negotiate a taxi from the airport US$ 40 – 50 and buy your ski passes by the day, as you have to go to the kiosk to collect them anyway.

Only place Skileb could book us into, or so they said - not sure they have any repeat business! Generally staff unhelpful, although one exception has to be the young girl on the reception who at least tried to be cheerful. 'Dormitories' not upgraded since 1970's I'm sure. Large damp mouldy patch on bedroom ceiling, very tired and uninviting rooms. Only plus is it was warm! Bar prices slightly higher than nearby Intercontinental hotel & when this querie made the barman seemed a little confused as to why we would question?? I believe he thinks they are in the same league.................NOT SO!!!!! The final insult had to be the driver that we had already paid for to transfer back to Beruit airport asking for his 'tip'!

The front desk manager held my passport against my repeated requests to have it returned after demanding a $300 cash payment for minor damage to a snow-mobile we rented. He was not interested in waiting to go through our insurance, showing us a part invoice to demonstrate a $300 value and claimed he did not have insurance. Hard to believe 30-50 brand new snowmobiles wouldnt be insured - just a money hungry crook looking to rip off anyone for a quick dollar! We called the police that only spoke arabic and were forced to pay $150 after hours of negotiations. Never again at this Hotel!!!! Avoid it at all cost. I will also write to skileb.com which we used to make our booking through to lodge a formal complaint regarding this matter.
