“An absolute treat!”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Ideally placed if you need to go to the Medical School or Queen Elizabeth Hospital (walking distance). I was travelling alone, Ray and Lynne were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble (needed help with door, food, phone calls to errant taxi drivers). I chose to have dinner in my room on night 1 - as a vegetarian I have low expectations, the 3 course meal delivered to my room was delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. I stayed in the room overlooking the garden and pool - very restful. The spacious room and spotless bathroom could not be faulted. I needed to leave at 05:45 and they organized me transport. Overall great value for money compared to similar, made a 5 star experience by the thoughtful hosts and friendly staff. Only complaint was that I never got to see Daisy the garden inhabitant who hid away the whole time I was there :(.

Leslie lodge is a lovely little guesthouse lodge. The hosts go the extra mile to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, with plenty of space and having a private outside patio to enjoy morning coffee or evening sundowners is delightful. Breakfast is an ample continental buffet affair in a beautiful dining room overlooking the garden, with fresh fruit, yogurt, toast and cereals. Marmite too for the Brits far from home. A 'lucky dip' hot dish such as French toast or pancakes is also provided each morning. Browse the books and magazines on Malawi as you enjoy the extensive tea selection or cafetiere coffee. Overall, a relaxed, low-key place to enjoy old fashioned hospitality at its best.

Having never been to Malawi before, I was not sure whether to stay in a hotel or a lodge in Blantyre. I definitely made the right choice by staying at the Leslie lodge. Ray and Lynne were excellent hosts, very accommodating, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are well equipped with a small kitchenette and private baths. I felt very safe as a woman traveling alone and slept very well in the comfortable bed. Leslie lodge is well located in a quiet neighborhood near the College of Medicine but not to far from the city, and there are nice little restaurants nearby. Highly recommend!

We had a very enjoyable 2 night stay in Leslie Lodge. Lots of room and even a little kitchen (which we didn't need), it would be perfect for a longer term stay. Very friendly and helpful owners (Lynne and Ray) and staff. We had to leave early before breakfast after the second night to catch the bus and they arranged us to have most of a breakfast to eat in our room (actually, in our private garden).

Very convenient for several of the health/hospital sites (not relevant to us), and reasonable walk into town as well.

Each room has a private mini-garden. I'd probably have preferred a larger more communal one; it depends on what you happen to prefer.

We didn't try the small pool, partly because there was building work in progress and partly because it didn't fit in with the other things we were doing. One downside for longer term stays could be that they say the pool is for customer use only Monday to Friday: if I was working for a few weeks there the weekend is exactly when I would want to use the pool.

I recently spent a week at Leslie Lodge, I was greeted upon arrival by Lynne and then shown to a great room - clean, spacious, air conditioned and with great wi fi available. I stopped by the dining room each morning for continental breakfast and then it was short trip to QECH.
Would definitely recommend this location to anyone seeking a pampered stay in Blantyre.
The attention to detail is great as is the warm and inviting hostess who checked on me to ensure that I had everything that I needed.

Stayed at Leslie Lodge for 3 weeks. Lovely relaxing feel to the lodge. Very safe and comfortable. The breakfast room has a beautiful view over the garden, with visiting friendly deer. Delicious home cooked meal in the evening available. Quiet and peaceful. Would definitely stay at Leslie Lodge again if back in Blantyre.

We have been coming to Blantyre for 6 years and were so happy to discover Leslie lodge! The rooms are clean, nice, and the patios are lovely. Internet and showers are reliable. Breakfast is good. Best of all, Lynne and Ray are more than helpful. It is just a short walk to QECH. Highly recommended!
