“Don't Bother with Executive Lounge - Go Other Level or Somewhere Else”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

This hotel was brilliant and the executive floor had the personal service everyone came back for. The executive floor has been renovated beautifully BUT they have put a man in charge that shouldn't be in charge. ie'Jay' He is trying to get all his friends to come from other hotels in the area so he has destroyed the actual best part of the executive floor, the original butlers, they have been put somewhere else.
Jay, has students who come in and serve the guests who haven't been trained. These students are terrible, not trained at all and how can they if you have someone in charge that seriously needs training. He has even boasted about having his friends come and work with him at the Puteri and Management refused to see what he is doing. (Must be related to someone as anyone else would get the sack.)
The service is now, less than 2 star and probably the worst I have ever seen in an 'Executive or Club Lounge'.
The management will NOT take on customer complaints, and there have been many. Executive guests are deciding not to return which is really sad because this hotel used to have something special in the Executive Lounge. It was because of the personal service they people returned again and again.
Looking at the previous review of someone writing about 'Jay', they must have been put up to it as it simply is not true. This man does not know what he is doing.
The food and beverage service run by Jay is shocking, the waiters have no English, cannot take orders properly, do not know how to pour a drink with a 'nip', when asked for a scotch will pour a rum, drip food on guests, bring out the wrong food, drop food on the floor and laugh about it, listen to their ipod instead of serving guests and during cocktail hour you can yell for assistance and no one will come and serve you. An executive lounge with poor or no service is not an executive lounge regardless of the renovations!
We have recommended many people to go to this hotel over the years and we are saddened by our friends coming back to say, "Never again, it has been ruined and no seems to care."
During our recent stay we saw first hand what the new manager of 'food and beverages' has done to the executive lounge. We will not return again until this has been fixed and we have been coming for years.
What a shame they have destroyed the one thing people came back to time and time again, the service from the original butlers who are now located on the ground floor and trying to keep the executive rooms up to standard.
It is a truly funny way to run a business. If I did not know any better it would look like someone is deliberately letting this hotel run down.

If you want to stay in this hotel, do not go executive as it is not worth it. Take a cheaper option on a lower floor.

Room Tip: Do not go Executive - waste of money as there is not service or value in the Executive Lounge.

I stay at this hotel for 4 days for work purposes. The room is big size but the decor is quite outdated. However I enjoy the breakfast buffet with lots of food selection, the same goes for lunch set as well. I did experiences the dinner at 2 different cafe (indian and chinese) but not as great as the lunch selection. The seminar room that we used for 4 days is at the basement level and it's quite dark and gloomy. The toilet entrance light is not working and it's quite dark. Since I stay at level 10, the view in the lift towards the open sea is magnificent. I think that is the bonus for this hotel. The car parking is a public parking and during the day it's quite difficult to find a parking. i did enjoy the stay at this hotel.

Booked for imperial deluxe. Ask for non-smoking but was given smoking room. Worn down rooms. Air-con not cold. Sink choked. Kettle cannot be used. Once used, power trip & black out d whole room. Dirty carpet. Overall, hotel rooms need to do refurbishment.

The Puteri Pacific reminds me of an old lady . . .

The good is that she is comfortable, friendly, can cook well and is too old to try pretend to be 'modern' and new.

The bad is that she has that worn look and smells slightly 'old' and you can see that some 'refurbishments' are being done

The ugly is the 20-year old TV and TV remote control with more germs on it than Typhoid Mary and that the thin-ness of the sheets can be double up by placing tissues on it.

On a more serious note - the staff are very polite and helpful. All the staff!
The entrance seems to promise opulence and grand design, which is quickly diminished when you enter the rooms. Beds are comfortable, but as mentioned above, the sheets are paper-thin and the only way you can stop from freezing to death is to turn off the air con . . . and that brings with it its own problems. (I still have sore shoulders and a stiff neck from sleeping in the deep-freeze)

Food is average to good, nothing spectacular . . . edible.

Room Tip: Simply ask - the check-in staff are very, very friendly

This hotel used to be the 'glamour' location during its heydays in the late 90's to early 2000. It has since the late 2000 lost its glamour and style.

I stayed for a business trip in what was a high deluxe room but was disappointed by the quality of the room. Though I had a good sleep, the hotel decor was not worth the money paid as I'd consider charges over MYR300 to be high and usually would get me a good hotel.

The toilet was rundown with a clogged basin. Because I checked in late at 10pm and was only there for the night, I didn't bother calling housekeeping for a repair. I washed my teeth and shaved at the shower but felt such condition should not have happened.

I honestly won't return especially at that price.

Room Tip: They may have newly appointed rooms with updated decor. Ask for this and state in advance your persi...

Stayed with my family for 2 nights. Booked online at their website. Not too bad a deal. This hotel is quite close to the Malaysian CIQ, next to Persada convention centre and next to the newly upgraded Kotaraya building. It is easy to look for food at the surrouding area and less than 5 mins walk to City Square.
This hotel is quite old from the look of it and it is definately time for upgrade. The room has a-kind-of musky smell. And the aircon was blowing half heartedly and it was not adjustable.(apparently their central airconditioning was down at that time). The room is spacious and even with an extra bed in the room, it doesnt feel crampy. The room even had a study table and a set of sofas with coffee table by the side. Yet from the foot of the bed to the tv console the space was big enuff for my kids to run around. They were generous with the complimentary bottled water, I had 4 each day refilled.(Normally it was just 2). There was also complimentary coffee and tea in the room.
Breakfast was typical. One thing they lack was variety. They just change their main staple of the day. But do go early, seems like its quite full especially during weekdays as I see a lot of executives from nearby office block having breakfast there.Feel awkward with my shorts and t-shirts and others with their coat and ties.Swimming pool is quite average. You can do short laps in it. Just above the pool is a small playground but that was close.
This is 4-star rated hotel but facilities overall is definately below average. They are in need of an upgrade. However, they managed I would rate them better for their service. Luckily the staff do not act like old and rundown.

Room Tip: Choose rooms facing the Straits of Johor
