“Old charming hotel”

Old hotel with a clean and functional room. We took the Imperial 37sqm room. The reception and reservation staff were very helpful. If you need more than one wifi user in the room make your request known and by the way wifi is a lil slow.
Park at upper floors for more security. I do hope they'll clean up the messy corridors.
Breakfast Egg station needs to be more orderly my egg was given to someone else.
Conveniently located behind JB city square - use short cut thru bridge for safer passage.
Given the rates I may or may not come back.

While crossing over to Malaysia from Singapore, we stayed a night at Puteri Pacific... the property is nice - the service is great - but what worked for me was the attitude of the restaurant manager at the breakfast table ... we being veggies, had nothing we could order in the menu. The restaurant manager promised he'll get something veg for us... and while we were waiting, he politely asked us to get anything of our liking from the buffet that was being served at that time. I would recommend staying at PP for their sheer service and attitude to help. THANKS!

Stayed here for one night on a business trip to Johor Bahru in early March 2014. It has a good location, parallel with the main road that runs through the town center. Its a walking distance to Persada Johor, the SG-KL-SG taxi stand, and JB City Square. Corporate rate was RM210nett with breakfast for 2. The following are my nominal pro's and con's.
Pro's:
- Good location, with easy access to the shopping and restaurants in the main city centre. Is a 5minute drive to Danga Bay
- Reasonably sized room with all the amenities expected of a 4-5 star hotel. Good beds enabled good sleep
- Really good spread at breakfast, with just so many choices including the usual suspects eg. cereals, yoghurt, asian porridge, nasi lemak and the works. Was one of the best I've seen.Well worth its approximately RM40++ per pax so having it inclusive is good value.
- Free parking which is always a good thing, when parking in the city can be RM2 per hour or RM12 per day (at Persada Johor).
- Good wifi connection
- Staff are friendly and accommodating, providing clear instructions/guidelines for our questions
Con's
- When driving especially at night, its easy to miss the turnoffs into the reception and car park as it's all one way plus the signage is not visible unlike other landmarks eg Public Bank, Persada Johor, Menara Landmark etc
- The whole room and hotel is retro 90s style, and requires a major uplift as the furniture and TV appears old, and the carpet has seen better days. The ensuite had a bath, which was great though.
- The ensuite door however was really flimsy and every noise from the occupant could be heard.
- There is a covered access to JB City Square, but you may need to be a bit mindful as there are less than savory types in the area. However, we didn't feel overly worried, but just felt that we had to be switched on when it came to our handbags etc.
Overall was a decent stay, but would consider staying elsewhere despite the pull of the food. There are many choices for less than RM150 with breakfast no less, but with a less out-dated look, which bordered on depressing for me.

Room Tip: You can ask for any direction that the room can face, as reception is obliging with this.

Came to this hotel by an invitation of a client. Had to overnight to continue work. But was terribly disappointed. Extremely old fittings, all of which is about to breakdown.
Room has a terrible stench!!!

Shower curtain is filthy, and puts you off totally standing in the shower, and shower head is not adjustable... So very difficult to take shower.

Very old beds... It sinks in like mad! In the morning, hot water kettle does not work! Asked for a replacement, they gave, but took about 10 minutes to boil the water!

In house music system switch points are there, but nothing works...

The colour TV in the room looks the one when a first colour TV was produced. You can imagine....

The worst? Rooms had Mosquitos... Didn't have a good sleep throughout the night! The Mosquitos keep humming in your ears... And woke up with some bites on the forehead and cheeks.

The food at the Chinese restaurant was ok, the breakfast spread? Nothing to shout about... Very very average.

The only compliment, the staffs were very humble and courteous. Always smiling and helpful.

But this is not why we come to a hotel. We want a good and functioning room.

For the price I paid... I suppose I could have found a reasonably new hotel with good amenities for much cheaper as well.

I paid USD 70 for a nights stay. I was told that the renaissance hotel, just across or somewhere close by, is a much better choice... And reasonable as well.

I will never recomend this hotel to anyone, even if a free stay is offered.

We will choose this hotel because it was the most nearest 4/5 star hotel near JB CIQ and City Square. Unfortunately i feel that it was just 3 star hotel.
When we checked in to the room we found out it just provide limited of amenities. They dun even putting in tooth brush, slipper and other. At the end we request from the House Keeping. From the info i know 4-5 star hotel should provide this basic amenities for the guest.
Well, the HK people told us that group booking only entire to get this amenities. Sad case.
The furniture are tired and the bed still got stain, the water heater was not function.
Really very disappointing.
luckily we just stay for 1 night.

We stayed one night, the rooms were basic but the service was pretty good and the food was just excellent. We had three meals while at hotel and each of us had different a-la-carte items. All were really, really good.

Stayed for 2 nights. Good deal via its website. Cheaper than agoda and booking.com. Rooms are in proper condition even though showing wear and tear. I must say the management is doing good job trying to maintain it. Dont expect too much amenities in the room. Old TV with limited channels, basic bathroom amenities, not so fluffy towels and WiFi that you have to request for username and password on daily basis.

Lobby area seems have been refurbished. Spacious and the staff are excellent. The restaurant looks new.

My only complaint is the parking. Limited. First night, we could not find parking spot and have to double park.

Location is good - walking distance to City Square and also the refurbished Galleria@Kotaraya. The mosque is attached to Galleria and no reason to skip Friday prayer if you are there :-)

Good dining places are within a short drive from the hotel - a centrally located hotel.
