“Legoland Hotel, Johor Bahru”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

Great hotel, however check in process takes a very long time. Check in is only allowed at 16:00 pm, and check out is as early as 11:00 am. Guest special requests are ignored and are not even considered. I have requested an early check in and a late check out. Simply I was told by the staff upon check in that such requests are not allowed.

People who are working behind the counters at the lobby are not very friendly and not up to the standards of other LEGOLAND hotels staff in other countries.

Only two restaurants at the hotel. One of them was shut down one night for a private occasion. The other is formal not very suitable for young kids.

Rooms are great and comfortable. However, cleanness also is not that great to live up to the standards of similar LEGOLAND hotels in other countries around the world.

Room Tip: Kingdom Suite is a great room type for big families. It accommodates parents and kids comfortably.

Expensive but an awesome experience for the kids.

Since it is a family-themed resort, it would be good if they can have more "lego-theme" activities for the kids to enjoy.

Brick restaurant is a let down. For breakfast, the staffs could not cope with the crowd, foods got wiped out really fast but refills were not done immediately. The cutleries and plates were not thoroughly cleaned. I could find many with stains (oily or food), not just over dinner but breakfast as well.

Lack of amenities and the plaza nearby doesn't offer much as well and that they close rather early.

Will consider going again if the price is right.

Legoland Hotel has exceeded far beyond the high standards of my expectations. I would highly recommend Legoland and the Legoland Hotel to those who wish to experience a totally different kind of environment. Plus, there will be NEW and EXCITING adventures coming SOON!

This is my 2nd stay. This time in kingdom suite. There are some improvements in the room with kid-friendly toiletries and strong water pressure. Good bedding and quality sleep. Everything works as it supposed to be. The combo ticket is a good deal that come with room booking. The breakfast had many varieties with good spread for everyone. It is expected to be crowded as the rooms were fully booked and therefore, advisable to have your breakfast early before 8.30 am. However, the swimming is rather small and crowded. The waiting time to get the room key was very long despite a short queue of 2 - 3 people in front. Perhaps self-check in kiosk, mobile counter or concierge to help quicken the waiting time would be helpful. It would be advisable to register first before going to the theme park and collect your keys slightly early before 4 pm. Despite some waiting time, the rest is great. Overall experience is still as great for my family.

Room Tip: Take the kingdom suite at high floor (7th floor) with good view of theme park. Suite has 2 toilet s...

We went on a weekend so it was crazy packed. Lots of over stimulated kids with overly tired parents. Yes it is convenient to access theme parks, but Traders was only 10 min away and had we stayed there, our trip may have felt more like a getaway rather than an apocolypse and for half the price! The problem with legoland is that they check you in at 4 and want u out by 10, so after a whole day at the park, you really just need a place to sleep so why pay triple times more than its neighbouring hotels? The buffet was terrible. Long line ups with kiasu type people pushing their way through...it was all too much for us. Yes the room was fun for the kids, and the special gifts are cool too but we didn't feel like it was worth our money. I would recommend traders. You have the entire 'legoland experience' at the themeparks, you really don't have to have it in your room as well. Plus traders is right beside the little big club which was a bonus if you had planned it in your itinirary!

We stayed on the 11th June for a night under a special deal by Maybankcard with 2-day Combo park passes for my family of four. My two young boys, aged 7 and 11, loved the ambience of the Kingdom themed room.
As it was school holidays, the queue was long for check-in at about 10am. We could not get a room as stipulated till 4pm (real bummer!). We went to the park first and came back about 4pm to pick up the keys to our room. There was no one at the key pickup counter. Waited about 10min till I decided to ask for the manager on duty at which point a staff miraculously appeared to handle the key distribution.
The room was a pleasant surprise compared to the service at the front counter. There was a treasure chest with a combination lock. The kids had to find the clues in the room to open the treasure chest. There were 3 packs of Lego toys in there.
The bathroom had a nice touch with a separate basin hung at a lower height for kids. It was bright and clean. There a couple of LEGO objects there, a crown and a spider.
The kids room after the bathroom door consists of a bunk bed for two and a trundle bed which could sleep a third person. The kids had their own TV.
The master bed was in a separate room with a sliding door separating it from the kids room. The mattresses were comfortable and the pillows firm enough for all of us to have a good night's rest before going for the second day at LEGOLAND.
Buffet breakfast was provided with the room. The restaurant was crowded and we had to wait about 20min for a table. Choices were plentiful and the quality was good. I would recommend that families wakeup earlier to skip the crowd. The restaurant was woefully under-staffed. Had to wait for cups, glasses.
Pros
Great ambience at the hotel and in the-room for the whole family.
Decent breakfast.
Kids-oriented facilities.
Just next to the theme park and the water park if you need a change of clothes.
Next to Medini Mall which has some restaurants for dinner.
Cons
Service at front office needs improvement.
Elevators has to be upgraded to visually inform users which one has arrived and whether it's going up or down.
Not enough parking spaces in the basement car park for guests during peak season.

All in all this hotel simply completes the LEGOLAND experience for the whole family. A two-day package to LEGOLAND plus at least a night's stay at the LEGOLAND Hotel would be the best way to enjoy LEGOLAND Malaysia, IMHO.

Will definitely return for another trip here soon.

Room Tip: Get a premium themed room. This would face the park instead of the poor view facing the front of the...

We stayed for 2 nights at Legoland Hotel Malaysia and the children enjoyed themselves, not only in our Kingdom themed room but also the activities at the hotel. As it is popular during school holidays and hotel guests get to enter the theme park at 9.30 am, do avoid having breakfast between 8.30 am to 9.30 am UNLESS you are ok to wait for 20 to 30 mins for your table.

My minus point was the pillows. I did not manage to sleep well and since the hotel occupancy was high, I did not ask for more pillows.

I found it a pity that not all the Lego items were well stock and they did not sell Lego DVDs at the hotel nor theme park. It would be cool to provide instructions on how to make the 3D creations we found at the hotel, to bring that bit of experience back home.

We may want to try staying over the weekend next time as Legoland closes at 8 pm on Fri and Sat but rather concerned about the crowd. Perhaps the hotel may want to offer more shade at the swimming pool in the future as the weather was very hot.

Adults and teenagers may not enjoy themselves, especially after the theme park was closed as the kids as there was only shopping and F&B at the hotel. Will be fun if they screen Lego movies at night and some Lego workshops
