“3 day 2 night stay at legoland”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

We've booked a 3 day 2 night stay at legoland hotel Malaysia for our recent trip to the Legoland theme park. Overall i would rate it as a very enjoyable stay as the location and rooms are great but there are areas of improvements especially at the reception and restaurant area where the service and quality was obviously lacking. As usual my detailed review consists of the following:

Location:
There's probably no better place to stay if you are planning to visit the legoland theme park. The hotel is located just beside the theme park and guests at the hotel have early access to the park at 930am instead of 10am. You can go back to your room for a break and continue where you left off to maximize your time at the park. There's a mall connected to the hotel which consists of a few restaurants ( burger king, kfc, secret recipe etc), convenience stall and some retail clothing stores for those who wants to take a break from the theme park but do not expect too much as the shops are limited.

Checkin:

Standard checkin time for the hotel is 4pm which is later than most hotels. We arrived at 9am since we wanted to play at the theme park while waiting for the room. Upon completing our checkin procedures we were told that the room was not ready and they will call us once it is available. Sadly that call never came. We tried to check again at 3pm and the first receptionist could not locate our name, the second told us we have not paid and finally we had to retrieve the checkin documents before they were able to locate our room. So much for first impression :(

Room quality:
We got ourselves a premium room for 3 adults and 2 children. I really like the design of the room as it was very functional and practical. The room is divided into two main area, one which is the main bed room and the other being the kids bunk bed. There is a sliding door which can be closed to seperate the two areas which allows parents to watch tv while their kids sleep in the bunk bed.

There's also more than sufficient storage area for all the luggages and still allow people to move around without feeling cramped ( this includes the toilet as well). The beds are comfortable and the decor of the room will surely keep the kids entertained. There's also free toys and a lego set to entertain the kids. Full marks for the room!

Housekeeping:
This is one of the rare stays where we did not try room service but this is for a reason which we will come to shortly. However we did test out the hotel's housekeeping on two occasion and they passes with flying colours. We asked for slippers to be delivered to us as they were not ther in the room and these was sent to us within 5 minutes. On another occasion we asked for thr bedsheets and cobers to be changed as my younger daughter wet the bed and again they responded with minimum fuss. The housekeeping team that we met along the way were also friendly and cheerful. Full marks again here.

Breakfast:
We always look forward to breakfast as we are huge fan of breakfast. If you are like us you will be disappointed with what legoland hotel has to offer. Breakfast is served at the Bricks restaurant one of the two restaurants within the hotel. You will be adviced to go early as it can be difficult to get a table after 930am.

Service at tbe restaurant is mimimal. Once they lead you into the restaurant you seem to be on your own. The waitress did not bothered to ask us whether we need baby chair or children utensils despite us having young kids. Food wise there's not alot of variety. The spread tends to be more local dishes. While they do have western spread the quality of the western dishes are lacking. Another thing that i noted during my two breakfast visit there is that the coffee and tea are from nescafe vending machine. I have no problem with these even though they do not generally produce great coffee or tea however on both days that i were there more than half of the machinese were not working! You get murky hot water instead of tea, milo or coffee at more than half of the machine! Surely this is not something that a reputable hotel will allow as it is a sign that they have not properly maintained the machines. I also noted stains on the bowls and cups which is another sign that the restaurant is not properly managed. In short i find the restaurant very disappointing and lacking in the three key areas of service, food and maintenence. You are better off skipping the restaurants within the hotel and dine somewhere else.

Check out:
Standard check out time is 10 am. The night before we requested for extended late checkout and was granted late check out at 1130. We used the additional time to go for a last trip to legoland. Upon reaching the hotel we found that we were locked out of our rooms as our keys are no longer working. We were not able to use the lifts or open the door and had to get help from the housekeeping team to open the door for us. This seems to be affecting a number of other guests as well as i met other guests who had similiar issues as us in the lift. Not a big issue but it is fustrating having to make multiple trips to and fro just to be able to get into your room. Thankfully the actual check out was relatively straight forward and was done in a jifty. The hotel really should train the recep desk properly since they are the first point of contact to all guests.

To conclude legoland hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking to maximize your time and experience in legoland. Its location, theme rooms ( free lego toys included) and all the entertainment provided at various parts of the hotel provides endless entertainment for your kids. The rooms are well designed, practical and accomodates larger families without any problems. Having said that they do seriously need to improve the restaurant and front reception desk given the experience that i've had.

It was a pleasure staying here for 2 nights, giving us sufficient time to explore the 2 parks. Being just a two or three minutes stroll to the park entrance makes such a big difference - we could retreat to the cool comforts of the hotel for the little one's nap, and even go back in the evening for a few more rides when he woke up!

Much has been said about the wonderful lobby, lifts and room decor. We echo all that. I would also add on very fast, friendly and obliging service at reception, and efficient room service (requests arrived within 10 minutes) and porter services. This is certainly out of the norm for Malaysia in our experience, even in 5 star hotels!

As many have said, breakfast was not top notch (and by that I mean 5 stars with options of freshly made waffles, freshly squeezed juices, eggs benedict, latte/mocha/flatwhites etc) - but satisfying enough. Quality of bread, pastries, eggs and sausages was good. Didnt try the Asian selections.

The only bug bear was that the showerhead was not able to be tightened in our room hence we had to handhold it all the time but that's rather minor.

Finally, the close proximity to Medini Mall (3 mins walk) meant a good variety of restaurants to choose from to suit all palates. We absolutely loved Absolute Thai - yummy!

We stayed 2 nights in Pirate-theme room. My wife, I and my 2 children were impressed with the room decoration and activities during staying in this hotel. Then we had dinner at the restaurant, the staff were nice and friendly. Food varieties were huge.
On the next day we had breakfast at the same restaurant, the food was OK but the flies were disturbing. I was wondering good hotel, but not really concern about this.

Dear Rudy P

Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your room and all its decorations.

Thank you also for your feedback, we do have very regular fogging and pest control in order to control the flies, ants, etc in this area, however, we will look into this and try to improve this further.

Once again, thank you for your review and feedback and we hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

Married couple with one 4 year old boy. Saturday and Sunday (2D/1N)

Travelling by car (Hyundai Sonata) from Singapore, the journey is very easy and the signposts to the resort are good.

Entering the hotel car park is via a slightly narrow ramp. Larger cars and those more nervous drivers take note.

Check-in, rooms are stated to be available by 4pm. In my opinion this is too late, but there are things to do and places to leave your luggage. The check-in line was long, but moved quickly enough. The hotel foyer has so much for the children to do and lots of seats, so checking in is actually fun for the others not in the line.

Rooms. We has an adventure themed room on the second floor. The lifts to the floors are mini adventures, with music and spinning lights. The check-in system must have been malfunctioning, as the room they gave us the key to, had people inside it already. This was sorted out, but should never really happen in this day and age. The rooms are big enough for a couple and two children, even though the bunk beds have a trundle, there would not be enough floor space for that number of bodies. There is a treasure chest in the children's room with complimentary toys (a very nice touch). The bunk beds are comfortable, although the lower bunk has limited head room. The adult room has enough space, but the bed was rock hard, this was suitable for me, but not for my wife. The hair dryer is in the bedroom, not the bathroom.

Service: The staff are friendly, but there did not seem to be enough of them, so they were always under pressure. This was most apparent at meal times. This did make for a feeling of uncertainty that requests would be filled in a timely fashion or even at all.

Amenities: The restaurant has both buffet and al-a-carte. The food is good, but again getting seated and getting to the hot food was too time consuming and ordering off the menu meant a long wait. I would advise the mall area next to the hotel, much greater choice and far less waiting. The staffing of the hotel seeped through to room service, very long wait and very limited choice, especially getting drinks. The swimming pool is nice, nothing special, but suitable. We did not use any other areas of the hotel. The internet service (provided for free) was terrible, always dropping connection and no one to know how to help or even attempt to help.

Check-out, much the same as check in.

The staff we interacted with were mostly very polite and helpful, although under pressure as there was not enough of them.

Overall the hotel is a good enough place to stay when going to the Legoland Parks. If the deal is good, stay there, but do not eat there for the evening meal.

We stayed 2 nights in different themed rooms, To do that you have to book the rooms individually, check-out in the morning and then check-in again in the late afternoon. Leave your luggage in the luggage room while you go play in the day. The first night was in a normal pirate-themed room. We didn't request for anything and was given a room on the first floor with a view of the construction land in front of the hotel. The 2nd night was in a premium kingdom-themed room. This time I asked for a room with better view and was given a corner room 315 on the 3rd floor with a view of Legoland and the Water Park. From my experience, the premium room is only slightly larger in size and has themed wall-papers and maybe a better view. The "treasure" in the safe were the same for both rooms - 2 packets of Lego Chima and 1 packet of Lego Star Wars (I have 3 kids). On the issue of sleep-quality, the beds were hard and one of my girls had a neck-ache from the thick pillows.

If you've booked the discounted combo park tickets with the hotel and want to collect the tickets first before check-in at 4 pm, enter the hotel from the front entrance or LG1 (basement 1 of the car-park). There's a guard at basement 2 level blocking non-hotel guests from entering in the morning hours, and it's a long round-about walk from LG2 to the main entrance. Or just randomly give a hotel room number if he asks you. We stayed in 155 and 315. It's no use telling him you'll be checking-in the afternoon, he won't budge. Register with the hotel first if you reach in the morning and you can just collect your room keys in the afternoon. If you leave your phone number, they'll even call you to inform when the room is ready.

Thank you for your review and photo’s. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit. I can confirm that the Premium Themed rooms come with the view of the Parks.

Thank you also for your feedback regarding the security on LG2. We are sorry if this came across as too strict, however, we would like to ensure that during peak periods our Hotel guests get the best experience possible and thereby minimising the number of non staying guests from crowding up the play areas in the Hotel.

Once again, thank you for your review and adding your photo’s. We hope to welcome you back again in the future.

With my 2 kids, 3 and 6yo, it was quite important to have a kids friendly hotel. LEGOLAND fits the kids' needs and was a good stay.
We booked the Kingdom theme, and it was great. The parent's bed was a huge king size, and they had a double bunk bed for the kids, plus a pull out , which makes it suitable for 3 kids.
Everything in the room was impressive, they had 2 sinks and mirror, one for the parents and one for the kids, which was great for the kids. The carpets were all lined with the bedroom theme which was again great and you could tell they put in great effort in the rooms.
There was a box of lego for the kids to play and another treasure hunt, which would unlock the complementary lego in the treasure box.
The toiletries were all packaged nicely in lego theme packages, which makes it look uniform.

We had breakfast early abut 7-7.30am, thus avoiding any crowd. Food wise, was a little disappointing. Not fantastic, but sufficient. Restaurant area was full of lego structures which was great.
Very child friendly with baby chairs.

The lobby was a great joy. Structures of legos for kids to play! They could spend hours there! There was sufficient chairs and sofas for parents to relax in, and an area of massage chairs too. RM5 for 5 mins though.

I also totally love the lifts! Disco lights once u step in! and disco music too, all helping t et the mood to enjoy!

The downside was the WIFI was horrible. I was using IPhone 5, but could only get onto WIFI on my last day. My hubby's wifi was not able to work once I managed to get onto my wifi. This was a great disappointment as I thought WIFI connection (stable connection) was one of the most important aspect in a hotel. The staffs did not help much as they said there was nothing they could do, which further fuelled frustrations.

Most of the staff were friendly and helpful except for the WIFI part. As for parking, hotel guests could get their coupons validated and it meant free parking, every time u leave or enter the hotel.

The shops outside the hotel also provided a cheaper alternative for lunch and some snacks.

Overall , though it was considered expensive for a 3D2N stay, I felt it was worthwhile as the kids totally enjoyed the hotel and almost everything was catered for kids.

Thank you for your review. We are delighted to hear that you found our hotel so child friendly and orientated. Kids are at the heart of our business and therefore we have tried to make it as suitable as possible.

The disco lifts are one of our most popular features of the hotel and it great to see our guests loving them so much.

I am sorry to hear that you struggled to get onto our wifi. It does struggle when we are running at full capacity, however, I am pleased to confirm that we will be upgrading this in the near future.

Once again, thank you for your review and we hope to welcome you and your family back again in the future.

We stayed a few nights at Legoland Hotel during mid-June. The staff at front desk are friendly and helpful, with special mention of a lady named Yan who really did her best to accommodate our requests.

We stayed in Premium Kingdom theme room and Premium Pirate theme room. Both room types were really nice with lots of Lego theming throughout. However, although the hotel is only a few months old, we noticed some wear and tear on the wallpaper, some wood chipped off at corner of bunk bed and also some missing pieces (bricks) on some Lego decorations in the room. But I guess these may be the result of inconsiderate guests, rather than the fault of the Hotel.

We celebrated Father's Day at Bricks Family Restaurant (dinner). We also had a couple of lunches here during our stay. Firdaus, the restaurant supervisor, was a very friendly guy and made us feel very welcomed.

The Bell staff were also very prompt and reliable.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
