“Great holiday”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We have now stayed in this hotel 7 times which probably indicates how much we enjoy it. Our last stay was for 3 weeks and we were joined by our 2 daughters for 10 days. We all enjoyed every minute of the time we stayed due in part to the manager Allan who arranged for the girls to be close to us in an upgraded room. In fact I would have to say that Allan's arrival has seen a noticeable uplift in the service and facilities at the hotel. Free Wifi and an excellent buffet breakfast are now included in the tariff and the reception staff are even more helpful than they were in the past.
The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the rooms are a little tired, although we notice they are in the process of renovating one wing of the complex.
Facilities at the property are wonderful! The beach, where you can either lay in the shade or in the sun is beautiful, and the huge pool is spectacular.
Location is great with many good restaurants nearby and duty free shopping within easy walking distance.
We will be back!

Room Tip: Book a room with a view over the pool.

Holiday Villa Beach Resort has two wings. One is at higher end with large suites and rooms. The low cost rooms are in its other wing, the Federal Villa Hotel Resort. This also had nice rooms and a good view. The best thing in this hotel is that it is just a few steps to sea. You can enjoy nice sun, water and sports.

We stayed here for 3 nights after staying at another resort somewhere else on the island. Big mistake! The only good thing about this place is location and pool...despite having to pay 25 MYR to use the infinity pool! The rooms are old and noisy, our safe didn't work and the shower was old and mouldy and basically just a drip. The staff were also quite rude to us, which came as a shock as the last place we stayed the staff couldnt have been nicer. We actually felt like a burden to the hotel.
Id only recommend this place if you're on a budget as its close to good food and massage places.

This resort is in a fabulous location, close to shops, restaurants and spas. The facilities are excellent, and the view of the sunset on the beach is amazing. The rooms, however, were a bit outdated. They were very clean and well maintained but could use an upgrade/update. There was a large choice of restaurant options on the street outside which provided a great variety each day. We were also quite close to a main shopping area with duty free shops and markets. Our stay here was very enjoyable and would more than likely stay again if we were to return. Especially now the new pool area is open, this was still under construction when we stayed, so unfortunately missed out on experiencing these new facilities.

We had a terrific 2 week stay with 2 adult and 2 kids (aged 7 & 9). We stayed in a Prima Suite which allowed us to have the kids in one room and us in the other at night which was lovely. The staff were terrific and helpful when we needed them, like locking ourselves out of the room or for advice on destinations. We had amazing views of the beach from our front room balcony (119) and a more private balcony to the side. The room was well cleaned each day and a pleasure to return to after a busy day of adventuring around the island. WIFI IS FREE! as others have said already but with so many earlier reviews commenting on it I thought it could with it being addressed again lol. Now about breakfast, I am not sure where the people that did not like breakfast went but surely it was not at this hotel. Every day for 2 weeks it was great with a huge range of options and choices for the whole family. Sure the donuts, chocolate croissants, nuggets and chips might not be the healthiest starts to the day but its holidays!! there is also a range of malaysian food, fruit and cereals, toast, an egg bar that can make what you want, waffle station and the list goes on. We had it included and were glad we did. We did not eat at the hotel much other than breakfast as we were normally out for lunch and sampling the local restaurants at night. The free pool is huge and we went there most days, we did spoil ourselves and went to infinity pool a few times and did find it to be a little cooler in here which was nice. Overall great stay and would recommend for any family to stay here.

I totally loved the hotel property - we had a garden view room with a patio. Comfortable bed, house keeping is good.
The hotel has a priviate beach & it is very clean with clearly marked spots for sunbathing. Just 2mins walk from any rooms i suppose. The garden area is well maintained & well lit in the night.
The breakfast counter is decent - the spread looks like having many choices. I cannot vouch for the taste as i am a veggie - seperate live egg & roti corners - made to order.
The swimming pool area is awesome. Seperate spaces for kids, ladies (for those who prefer such) & general pool. The beach view from the pool is mindblowing. Totally relaxed to sit with a drink with a view.
Wifi is pretty strong :)
The front desk though is not so helpful, they only go by rules. We arrived at the hotel at 1.45pm. The webpage says check in is at 2pm. We dont mind waiting for some time. However when we asked for checkin - the room was not ready. The front desk bluntly told can take anytime btween 45-60mins. When we asked abt the 2pm policy - she argued that anytime after 2pm. The hotel is not bound to give room at 2pm - this is weird. Our room was ready by 3pm. We demanded they give us an extension of 1hr when we check out as our flight was later in the evening. They did not agree at first but eventually relented.
We wanted to make some local calls - the operator called us to front desk sometimes & sometimes asked us to call from the room
there are some Indian restaruants nearby (10-15mins walk) - so for veggies i think this hotel is fine.
Will i stay again - sure for the lovely property - I only hope front desk is better next time.

Room Tip: you can choose a garden view or sea view as per your choice. Do not choose the restaurant view.

We took time to search hotels in Lagkawi and went around the island to find one suitable for our búdget. This proved to be a challenge. The hotel is in good area with lots of restaurants and shops not far away. It has a nice beach too and the best part was their new infinity pool and bar.Nevertheless the infinity pool was payable. It was around 5GBP a day with a free drink.Very relaxing as not many people. The bad points are around cleanliness. The rooms are dated and have quite noisy aircon. The sheets were clean but the blankets under the sheets were dirty. We saw coacroaches running in the hallway on couple of occasions. When people leave their room service dishes behind their door it can také until the next day for the staff to be bothered to pick it up. The breakfast was just ok.We didnt particularly enjoy it, You will get an egg omelete with raw onion. The staff, well they seemed to be with no character, We stayed there but spent all our time out and came back to sleep. We got best offered price at the front desk rather than other websites.Overall i feel that if they want to continue charging quite high rates they have a long way to go when it comes to increasing the service, standard of cleanliness and generally good customer experience.

Room Tip: Room with pool view or sea view on second floor.
