“Poolside stay”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

Prior to booking this hotel we had read to request a poolside room, which we did. We had a large patio overlooking the pool and spent a lot of time there as our room was very dark. The room was clean, towels were changed daily, staff we're very friendly. The pool was a bonus as we were there in March and it was very hot. Our only complaint was the lack of lighting, making the room very dark and depressing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room by the pool.

The door lock is broken, switch of heater is broken, air-cond is broken, swimming pool is full of insects. Complaint and trying to change a new room at first day but full room, trying to argue to fight a chance to get a new room but their staff advised us to come back at tomorrow morning, we went there and again they said full room. Totally disappointed!

Room Tip: Never choose this hotel.

Bad Hotel is an under statement!!!

From start to end.

I traveled with my 70 year old mum. who is a sprightly lady for her age. But there was no help with our luggage, no welcome and no one to show us to our room. NOT a good start.

The room was dreadful and the tap in the bathroom not working. Second room was dirty with dust on the head board 1cm thick. The throw over the bed was never changed, in fact we had to ASK for sheets and towels to be changed. I have traveled all over the world and never had this. BUT .... the tap did work -in fact it didn't turn off!!! and dripped constantly although we reported it a few times.

We booked this hotel as it had a pool, which was closed all of our stay (14days). We asked to see the manager to see if we could get a discount - he looked at me as if i had two heads.

This hotel really needs to be missed I advise every one . ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. Terrible hotel, should be closed down for refurb and staff and manager to have customer care training.

Room Tip: book another hotel

The hotel is near the beaches and the best bars. The staff is friendly but the cleaners aren't very good. After two days we found out that you have to ASK to get your room cleaned, but further throughout is was ok. Ask for a room in the new building! The bathroom and basically the whole room is much much much better (we found out after extension of our stay in Langkawi and we had to change room).

The hotel is a long, thin building and has a "U" shaped extension built on the back of the main hotel with the open ends of the "U" joining on. The extension is known as the Resort. There is a pool in the centre of the "U" available for all guests. The pool had just been refurbished and reopened the day after we checked in. It is a very nice pool, with good planting all around it. Each room has its own patio with chairs and table, leading to the pool where there were pool beds. The floor had not been refurbed and was bare concrete, flaking away and quite dangerous and uneven in many places.
.
We booked a De Luxe Quad room (two of us but wanted space and it is quite cheap!)in the main hotel and on allocation were asked if we preferred a "Resort" room for the same price. We asked to look at both. The Quad room did not have a window although it was not a bad size.

The Resort room was a little smaller but looked much more attractive, with a window and view of the pool. Not liking the idea of a windowless room for a week we took the Resort room. It was fairly clean and the bedding and beds were okay - we also had a fridge and TV. The bathroom was of the "wet room" type which in Malaysia means a toilet, a tiny, tiny sink and a shower head fixed on the wall without any shower tray or curtain which meant paddling around in the bathroom for an hour or so after a shower before the floor dried. This also means that you can't take even a towel in or it gets wet. There wasn't any storage space whatsoever but we solved that by taking the little plastic table from the patio and putting it into the bathroom to hold shampoo, sun cream and anything else that didn't mind getting wet.We thought okay, here we are, at least it looks nice and we will be okay for a week.

3.30am the next morning there were still quite a lot of people sat around the pool area shouting, talking etc. We thought, maybe just their first night, let them enjoy themselves, but the next night was just the same so we asked the night porter to speak to them, which he did. It was not then too bad most nights but we thought that there seemed to be an awful lot of people around for the size of the place - we then saw the staff putting up to 4 extra mattresses into rooms built for 2 or 3 maximum. We counted a group of around 14 who all seemed to be in just 2 rooms.

This hotel looks nice, both from the outside and inside, but do not go unless you don't sleep at night! It is a shame, especially as it is so centrally located, but we would never go again. Maybe the windowless room would have been better? We were also supposed to get the room cleaned daily, but by the 3rd day it had not been done and we had to ask each time.

Room Tip: Choose between noise or windowless room!!

We stay at Landcons Hotel last year on September 2013. We stay for 3 nights. We make the room reservation through travel agent in Penang. We get the cheaper price than online booking.
The hotel just basic accommodation. The location very good. Just walking distance to The Underwater World, Restaurant, Spa, Massage and the beach side.
