“Fast service, friendly staff ,good food.”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Heard about this place from a friendly taxi driver. Owned and operated by a Malaysian woman and a Dutch man. Food was tasty, clean and complimented by prompt service. We had the green curry and uma's famous Indian curry - yum! Would definitely eat there again.

“Best restaurant in Langkawi”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

I've been in Langkawi for several months and been to dozens of restaurants along Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah, and this is hands down the best food. One problem in Langkawi is that most of the restaurants are serving the same food. Champor-Champor has a unique menu that makes it a prime choice if you're sick of the same stuff. We have tried 6 different dishes and all have been very good to excellent. Despite unique food, one thing hard to find in Langkawi is steak. The other restaurants don't even know how to cook medium-rare and the cuts of steak you get are poor quality; they're tough and on par with eating rubber. Service is great, the waitress is always smiling and is very attentive. She knows when to ask if we want anything else, isn't bothersome, can tell you all about the different dishes, and cleans the table of dishes after everyone is finished. The wife and husband who run the establishment have been great and are very likable.

But there is something that needs improvement. The non-alcoholic drinks. Most of the drinks are soft drinks in a 12oz can and cost 5RM, quite overpriced (< 2RM at convenience store.) The ice lemon tea is also in a can and not fresh. The selection of fresh fruit juice is very small, only pineapple and watermelon.

“Fun night socialising / quiet evening with excellent food -choice is yours!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We spent two evenings here -the first, we had eaten elsewhere (regrettably!) and came back to Champor-Champor for drinks at the bar. We were welcomed in like old friends and chatted long into the night with the owners Uma & Theo and other holidaymakers from around the globe. The evening was one of our highlights of Langkawai !!

The following night we returned to eat there... It was delicious! As I said to my travel buddy - the brownie desert was "dangerous" because we were so full & satisfied after our mains that a desert was surely going to make us explode, but it was sooooo good we couldn't resist it!!

Highly recommend!

“A pleasant enough evening”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Previous reviews and a suggestion from our hotel had us make us decide to dine at Champor Champor this evening. Our welcome was pleasant enough, our waitress appeared to be very timid although she did know the menu well. The wine list is very scant, our choice of the Chilean Chardonnay was very good.
Our meals were good, my husband had the coconut calamari and I had the roti chennai as starters, followed by the local fish as our mains. The fish seemed very over cooked, rather dry, I was corrected by Uma, one of the owners, that this is how it is done (I would not order it again even though it was pleasantly flavoured)
Had there been someone to welcome potential patrons who were looking at the menu at the door, Champor Champor could have been full to over flowing by 8.00pm, there was just something lacking this evening. Theo was firmly stuck behind the bar, he looks a character and it would have been nice to see him out on the floor. Uma did check on us several times. The cd music was very loud, hard to hear and converse with my husband across the table, it was turned back a little at our request.
I sound like a whinger, please, that I am not, sadly our dining experience tonight did not rate along with our others during our 8 night stay on Langkawi

“Excellent”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

Ate hear 4 times in the 5 days we were in Langkawi. The food was amazing. Theo & Uma are excellent hosts. Unlike some of the other restaurants we visited you did not get the impression that cleanliness might be an issue. Loved the eccentric decor.
