Berjaya Langkawi Resort - Malaysia
Ranked #12 of 104 Hotels in Langkawi
Certificate of Excellence

If you want to go to Langkawi, stay in this resort because it offers you experiences at half the price of other resorts.

For starters, there are wild creatures: monkeys, squirrels, hornbills, that you will encounter frequently in the setting of tropical rainforest. Basically the accommodations are categorized into rainforest and water chalets. We stayed at the premier chalet on water, situated at the outskirt of the rainforest, so we got best of both worlds.

This is a huge resort, emphasize on huge, that you will have to take shuttle rides to take you to places: to your chalet, from your chalet to the lobby, to the restaurant, spas. If you are adventurous and love to walk, it is possible to reach them by walk, although I might say that it will be quite a workout especially if your chalet is one of the most far.

Although the service might be average (maybe some of the waitresses or drivers are not having their best day), the experience of playing on the beach, walking in the jungle in the night (there is a free program of evening jungle walk for guests arranged by Dev's Adventure) will pay it off.

I believe this will be the best resort for families, the cable car ride is very near!

As for the rooms, ours (a premier chalet on water) did not disappoint. It is clean with the much needed shower and tub with adequate water pressure. Toilet amenities is complete, and the room is regularly replenished with complimentary snacks and fruits. Last night there was a storm and they sent someone to give small packets of pineapple pies to our room in the middle of the rain. Top notch (and poor lady, it could've been done in the following morning).

If you plan to stay here, to rent a car is a MUST. This place is nowhere near civilization (unlike Pantai Chenang and Kuah), and to get to places it requires 20-30 minutes of drive. Taxi is simply too expensive if you want to have a full day excursion out of the resort. Tip on renting car: go to the booth on your arrival at the airport, and bargain their price in half.

Room Tip: Premier chalet is great, or you may stay in the rainforest with a room overlooking the ocean/beach.

We had two nights here in August and unfortunately couldnt stay longer. If we had known what it was like we would have stayed a week. The location was great and the resort and staff were wonderful. Our villa in the trees with the monkeys swinging around in front of us, was so lovely it was hard to leave our unit to go down to the most fantastic pool area for a swim. We had a meal out on the Thai waterfront restaurant and we have eaten in lots of places over the world, but this experience was by far the best we have ever encounted. Only tip I can offer to anyone booking this resort, is to not make the mistake of staying for 2 or 3 days, make it a week or longer.

Room Tip: No matter where you are the shuttle service is quick to where ever you want to go.

What a beautiful, quiet, relaxing piece of heaven. We stayed in a rainforest chalet, it was very comfortable and modern. Travel around the resort is by safari like buses, you never have to wait long for them to pick you and deliver you to the lobby or the spa, which is where we spent quite a bit of time. The spa is excellent with large outdoor jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms. You must try the hot stone massage, it was just so relaxing. The beach restaurant s the star place to eat, the food there was fabulous, and the staff were extremely friendly. I don't think I can think of anything negative about this place. If you love nature then this is the place for you, there are also monkeys in a lot of the trees. I will definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed three nights here in August 2012. It was a good place to chill out and take it easy in very comfortable surroundings.

The chalet we were in was well appointed, clean and in a good location quite near to reception (you might want to hop on their shuttle service if you're too far away).

Food was mostly good, and the cost was acceptable: I had great meals at the Thai restaurant and also at the Chinese - I was actually a bit surprised. We opted to include breakfast which was ok - at least lots of variety so we could always find something.

Pool was amazing, as was the sunken pool bar. I did wondered whether it would be difficult to find a spot by the pool if the resort had been much busier. Beach was great - though we'd have liked to have seen a few free watersport activities. Access to airport and some nearby attractions was easy (you can walk to the Seven Wells and waterfalls if you need a bit of exercise!). Gym was good.

Loved the monkeys!

Room Tip: See if you can stay near to the main reception to save hoping on the shuttle bus. And lock the doors...

Stayed in rainforest chalet. Rooms are located at quite a distance from the lobby but resort provides an excellent shuttle service. They just take a minute or two once you make a call for pick up. Lots of facilities in the resort itself.. jungle gym (with all the well equipped machines), swimming pools (quite a big one for kids), kids room ( only issue, they want an attendant if you leave a kid less than 3 years), Rimbha Sports Bar ( Dart, Pool, Table Tennis, PS3.. fun to be in), Cycling..(wow 10 RM for an hour) and loads.. Staff is very good and co-operative. Beach restaurant serves quite a good food. Beach is quite clean and boat house provides you with quite a good activities (beach football, volley ball, cricket apart the water sports)

Enjoyed our stay very much. Still a very beautiful resort although it is a little old and in need of continuous upgrading. The staff were very accommodating and hard working... considering it was the peak festive season of Hari Raya, they were working with many staff on leave and almost full occupancy. We will surely visit this place again without hesitation.
