“langkawi in full package is in the hotel”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

Nothing to be complained, we are satisfied with the services and the facility. We stay in berjaya after 4 days in cenang area, and 2 days in koh lipe.. before we left langkawi to go to koh lipe, we put one of our luggage to berjaya and they help us managed it.
When check in time, our room is upgraded to Premier Chalet on land, and surprisingly everything already set up in that room.( we request a baby cot and they gave us baby stuff too! ).
Since our plane to kl is midnight, they provide us to use their facility after check out, also we can use one of their hospitality room for one hour to refresh before we go to airport. So thoughtful.. oh last but not the least, i lost my earings in the chalet and i just aware that i left it on the bathroom after 5 hours check out time., when i call the front office to ask about whether they found it, they responded it very fast and voila, my earings are in the lost and found dept. Thank you berjaya staff.
About the facility of the hotel.. this resort have everything of langkawi.. they have mangrove area, view to cabble car, powdery sands and nice private beach, also rainforrest. very huge resort. The breakfast is ok, need variety.. but overall this resort is great choice when you in langkawi.

Me and my husband stayed here for 6 nights, it's very different to the typical resort the seperate challets are what made it different, the beach was lovely. We had a sea view challet with a balcony, the room was clean and spacious.. In our package we only got breakfast which we soon regretted as the resturants in the resort were pricy and other food places were a taxi drive out of the resort, I have to say breakfast was perfect though. We were also give a complimentary dinner for 1night. As well as this we were left with a fruit basket and chocolate cake in our room saying "happy honeymoon" which was a great idea.. The nearest village oriental village has several attraction, u can get the hotel shuttle to it as well. If ur willing to go out of town there's some lively streets 10-15mins drive away too. Over all we loved it. How can I forget the monkeys out side out challet were delightful.

I really enjoyed my stay at this resort, there's lots to do, the beach restaurant serves some really good fish and is a nice romantic and beautiful place to eat at night..the big restaurant right 'under' the lobby is great as well especially for the breakfasts! The spa is beautiful, maybe a bit expensive.. The beach is looks really pretty but the water isn't that nice..you can't swim as there are reaaally a too much jellyfishes around there..it doesn't make your swim that nice! The rooms are beautiful; bed, shower & bath..clean& comfortable..but everything is so far from the pool, lobby and restaurants..it takes you a lot to go there by foot. I prefer a bit smaller resorts..it was so big and not cosy!

I have been incredibly lax in writing this review considering it is nearly a year since we visited here. We spent my 40th birthday here and it was the best part of our holiday in Malaysia. We were upgraded to a sea chalet and it was wonderful. The room was enormous with both a bath and a shower and I loved the fact that you could sit in the bath and pull up the blind to talk to the person in the bedroom. Listening to the sea lapping away under the chalet was the most incredible experience and a lovely way to fall asleep. There was always somr little gift in the room when we got back in the evening and on the day of my birthday they left a bottle of sparkling non-alcoholic apple juice (it is a Muslim country). The food in the main restaurant for breakfast was great and on our last morning we tried out the beach restaurant for breakfast where you can order breakfast and it is freshly made and served to your table. The selection of buffet food in the beach restaurant isn't as various as the main restaurant. On the night of my birthday my husband arranged a meal at the beach restaurant which was divine and the staff brought out the most delicious chocolate cake and the house band sang to us it was a night I’ll never forget especially given the attention to detail and the fuss that was made of me. I cannot compliment this hotel enough, the pool area, the beach, even the mini mangrove are all fantastic. I would definitely go back and spend a lot more time here than the three days we managed to fit in.

Just a tip hiring cars is quite cheap in Langkawi so think of this as an option rather than booking transfers from the hotel or a taxi.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to a sea chalet

This resort was supposed to be ecological, beautiful where you can get away from it all but with access to outside shops. Unfortunately, we were isolated and mostly at the mercy of the resort. We had a bad first impression - Reception was dark and dingy, looked like it needed a good scrub but staff were fine and checkin was good. Our rooms were good, recently refurbished, and clean but for some reason known only to the landscapers, the cabins are all to one side of the main building. Our cabin was about 2km away from the main building in a maze of confusing, uphill and poorly signposted pathways. We had to continually take a shuttle bus to and from the facilities. This was a major annoyance. Another disappointment was the food. Breakfasts were quite good, but all other food was outrageously expensive and very poor quality. Yes, there were restaurants and shops handy but these are all owned and controlled by the resort, so there is no price relaxation there. Getting to other restaurants required a taxi ride of about 20 minutes and 40 ringgits. The other problem was the constant smell of sewage. We had whiffs all the time and it was especially off-putting having lunch in the main restaurant. We only had a short stay but would have cut it short if we had booked for longer. If you are thinking of Langkawi for a visit, I suggest you stay in Cenang where there are many restaurants and shops outside and hopefully the resorts are of better standard than the Berjaya. The island was beautiful and the resort could have been beautiful but, overall, the chalets outside looked rundown and the layout and smell were extremely annoying. Staff were also not too enthusiastic. Sorry, but can't recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Choose one close to the main building.

Situated away from the bustle of Chenan beach this rainforest resort is showing its age but still has the charm and value for guests. Access to many water sports and tourist adventures. the staff could not do enough for us during our 5 night stay. A highlight was dinner over the water at the Thai restraint.

Room Tip: Choose rainforest or sea or over water depending how much you want to pay.

Booked a Family Suite + Superior Room. We booked for airport transfer as well to reduce the hassle, and it took around 15-20 mins to reached the resort.

Check-In: Was a bit too long. Despite emailing in advance regarding our special request on chalet locations, we didn't get the rooms near to the main lobby and closely to each other.

Rooms:
Family Chalet- Both of the rooms are nice and spacious. The bathrooms are clean and big.
Not much of a view as we are located in the Rainforest area. As there are mosquitoes, spray and electric repellent are provided in rooms.
Superior- Located slightly nearer to the beach front, nice view and room are much more spacious with balcony facing the sea.

Dining:
We had our lunch at the Dayang Restaurant, the food were reasonable that comes with huge quantity and good quality as well. The service were excellent, the only negative of it is that there's flies around the area. Maybe it depends on your tables cos we didn't have any issue with it when we had our breakfast the next day with a different sitting area. Would RECOMMEND anyone staying at Berjaya to try dining and catching the sunset at Pahn Thai Restaurant at least once. It is located right at the end of the resort and the scenery is spectacular. Food are fine, not really top but it's worth the experience. Must book in advance as they have limited seats.

Pool/Beach: The private beach are beautiful, there's water sports available too. The pool is very nice and clean but a bit too crowded most of the time.

Attractions: The cable car is a MUST TRY. The scenery right at the top is awesome. The hotel have a free shuttle to the Oriental Village where you can find alot of souvenirs stores and activities like the cable car and 'duck tours'. For some who loves mesuems, you can venture out from the resort and go to Mahsuri Museum (Makam Mahsuri) and Perdana Gallery.

Check-Out: Smooth and fast. (Maybe due to our morning flight and the first one to check-out from the resort.) Airport transfer was fast as well.

Overall: We enjoyed the vacations, both my senior citizens parents loves it so much. I would personally recommend this to family who have kids and couples who simple just want to chill by the beach and relax. A good resort for de-stress and get away from the concretes walls.

Room Tip: Those who have issues with mosquitoes and bugs, I would recommend for you to request for chalet near...
