We stayed for a few days getaway so were just looing for beach, sun and a walk or two. That is what we got. The resort was beautifully situated. We had a villa up the hill with a nice view. The rooms were a little corporate but clean and nicely decorated. It just lacked that personal touch - as per price/quality comparison. The bed however was extremely comfortable.
The pool was great with a bar that you could swim up to for happy hour. The food was ok, it had a big buffet style restuaurant which are not my favourite which again reminded me of a corporate hotel, but I chose from the a la carte menu. The local food options were good - but not local prices, more big hotel prices. Location wise it is close to the cable cars and one of the waterfalls so for our few days stay there was more than enough to keep us all occupied! The best part about it was the sea and the beach ....lovely!

We stayed at Berjaya for 5 nights at the end of a 3 week trip to Malaysia. It was our relaxation section of the holiday and this seemed the perfect resort to be able to do that. We arrived in Langkawi by ferry from Penang and the resort is a good 40 mins from the port, about 25 mins from the airport. Taxi's are set prices and cheap enough. Upon arrival into the beautiful grounds we were feeling good about our choice. The reception are is vast, with staff to help at every point. Whether thats sorting out your cases, booking trips, ordering taxi's making reservations at the numerous restaurants on site, everything was covered.
We had one of the jungle chalets and were taken there by the regular shuttles that run around the large grounds. We were actually close enough to walk, within a few minutes of the reception. The chalet was just lovely, set on stilts within the jungle with a balcony overlooking the trees and the sea beyond. The large bed was really comfy and the bathroom large. Plenty of storage space and mini bar, safe and tv with satalite.
The resort has 3 pools including a jacuzzi and childs pool and the main one with a mini waterfall, all serviced with a pool bar and poolside food outlet. A short walk past this to the large private beach with lots of beds with shade and watersports available if wanted. We tried 4 of the restaurants on site. The main restaurant has a great buffet breakfast and in the evening alongside its Al la Carte menu runs themed nights. We did the BBQ night whcih is a set price but a buffet style with lots of choices. The food was great and the prices were good.
The beach restaurant, we used for lunch, which was really good for snacks. The Thai restaurant is just gorgeous both in setting and food. Its a shuttle ride down to the end of the resort but the restaurant is on stilts above the sea. We booked for a 7pm table which was perfect as we saw sunset and then everything lit up in the dark. The service was superb and the food was some of the best Thai food I've tasted. Pre book as it gets busy. Finally we did the Japanese restaurant which is actually located just off site in the Oriental Village. Again the food was really good and service impeccable.
We used the travel assistants to sort out a day trip. The staff were really helpful in recommending something for us and then sorting out the booking. It worked out no more expensive than booking direct.
A gorgeous place with excellent serivce and facilities, a little out of the way from the main town whcih for us was perfect. Highly recommended

We stayed here a while ago but it still comes up in conversation. Our room was a stand alone chalet with a balcony overlooking reception/restaurants and the ocean and in amongst the forest. Sitting on the balcony listening to the birds and watching the monkeys was so relaxing. Remember to keep your doors properly shut when you are not there because the monkeys do know how to slide the balcony door open. We know because it happened to us while we were there, not sure who got the biggest fright the monkey or us.
A clean swimming pool with a swim up bar and it's own private beach with service made it so there was no need to leave the resort. There were also a lot of places to walk to including around the resort, along the beach and along the road to the Cable Car ride which also had a market with different things for sale.
Full breakfast was included in our package and the food was incredible with almost any food you desired and it was so fresh including hot waffles cooked in front of you but you do need to know when to stop eating them. The resort had almost everything you wanted including a masseur, a doctor on site, water sport toys, a small open sided vehicle that could pick you up and drop you off anywhere within the resort. Having 5 restaurants on site gives you plenty of variety and there was happy hour I think every night. A shuttle service was available for a small fee driving to a shopping mall that sold most things and well worth a look and the trip gave you a good look at how they live on the island.
Remember to take your sunscreen and insect repellant as there are a few bugs around.
Would I stay there again? Hell yes.

The location of the resort is just perfect with their own private beach which is amazing! Loved the whole area with the sea and the rain-forest as well. The rooms are really nice with all the facilities. The whole area is so gigantic that they have shuttle service from each room to lobby/any are inside the resort.

There are 3 restaurants within the resorts and food of each of them are GREAT. Once should definitely try the pizza at the "Beach Restaurant". The service of the hotel is 5 out of 5 I would say.

They have "Taara's Spa" inside the resort which is I would say one of the best I have ever experienced. Must Try!

Just be a little cautious about the wild animals like monkeys/little snakes as its a forest area so you might not know what is coming in-front of you! But its a part of the whole experience. Me and my husband went there to celebrate our 1st Anniversary and it just just beyond amazing and fun! Loved it!

Room Tip: The area is HUGE and they have basically three types of rooms. Rain-forest Chalet, Premier Chalet on...

We went to berjaya for 5 nights for part of our honeymoon in Langkawi and really enjoyed it. We got to see the dusky leaf monkeys, bats, flying lemurs and other various wildlife right on the doorstep literally. We had a sea view room 1246 I think it was which was lovely, clean and spacious.
I could tell you the positives spend a long time doing. However this hotel is very expensive compared to other places and are just taking the Mickey a bit. The buffet in the dayang restaurant was £15 a head and I made a schoolboy error assuming it would be cheaper and was a little shocked when the bill came for nearly 200rm for 1 meal. That's not too expensive for prices at home in the uk but here that's expensive. I must say the Chinese restaurant there was only around £12 total for a lovely meal and a beer each.
Talking about alcohol, the band in the lobby was the only night entertainment and were ok at best. We were happy to chill on the balcony and drink down the litre of jack Daniels we bought for 55rm (£11) with coke at night as there was not much else to do near by.
Oriental village, where the cable car is a very short walk or get the shuttle if you want has a few cheap places to eat and drink. Bolaven cafe was good even without the tiger. We went down to get cheap snacks and drink and then had a mooch round the mainly souvenirs shop.
If you can get a good deal go for it or if you are willing to pay over the odds for food and drink then you will be ok. Such a shame that the greed is spoiling a lovely hotel

Stayed here with friends a little while ago and we were very pleasantly surprised, having picked it almost at random. Great room with a view over the sea, a free and un-prompted upgrade from the jungle room we'd paid for. Food was great and we loved the swimming pool, especially the swim-up bar - a very satisfying way to spend time!

Nice beach and the chance to hire a variety of water craft, in our case some kayaks and jet-skiis.

I'd love to go back one day.
