“great forest/beach resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2010

the service over there in the hotel was great. the check in was fast (but you pay 2000 RM and
after you check out you will receive the money) we also got our welcome drinks (a punch drink some thing like that i don't remember) .
After we finished our drinks it started to rain as we were escorted to our rooms by a open air van.
we took the two deluxe chalet rooms which is good for families because it has adjustable door in between the two rooms.(also the deluxe room and some water chalets nearby are closer to the beach, swimming pool and the reception). we had a 20% view of the beach from the balcony and the other 80% view of the forest . The room was spacious with a two twin size beds and a sofa (which will be used for a triple guest in one room) and the other room had a king size bed both of the rooms were clean no insects, no lizards and no spiders.
well at night we were scared to seat in the balcony since its very dark and with the light on there is no difference. the bathroom was clean with complimentary amenities. it also has a bidet which was very useful. the beds were clean too.
The best thing about the chalet was the location. we didn't need to use the van to go to the beach, swimming or the reception the deluxe chalets are more closer to the activities in the resort.
i like the beach the most ; clean beach, light brown sand and quiet beach too. it had a nice view if you look back and see the mountains and hills when its about to rain. the clouds settles on the peak of the hill and a slit chance of seeing the cable cars from the beach.
the least i like was the reception its is an open air area i would prefer it to be a closed area since its a hot wet island and for the guest to wait to check in in a hot area and sweat until u get in your chalets.
well overall it was a very nice stay i would give it a 5 stars resort hotel and i would return to the same hotel in the future.

We stayed at the Berjaya in July in three delux chalets(two interconnecting) and had the best time of all our stay in Malaysia. The resort is just lovely and is great for walking around and just relaxing. The staff are friendly and efficient. The bathrooms are in need of a facelift but our room was clean and comfortable and to be honest we spent most of our days at the pool or beach. Was very impressed by the way the water sports are organised(these are not done close to the beach so you are still able to enjoy the water and beach area without worrying about being hit by a rogue jetski etc.).We ate at both the Dayang Cafe and the Beach restaurant and were happy with the food. The pool area is lovely and we had great service from the staff there. There is a games room, playground ,kids club and the Spa is worth every ringet (highly recommend it).We loved our stay so much that we are planning to return and the Berjaya really was the highlight of our family holiday to Malaysia.Considering what it would cost us to stay in a resort in Australia we feel the Berjaya is value for money with a four star feel.Loved it!

We have just returned from Berjaya Langkawi and I have mixed feelings.
The location was fantastic. Had a real jungle feel, which we loved. Surounded by animals.
However.....The shuttle didn't work as smoothly as you would expect. Quite often we waited 20 mins. Which doesn't sound too bad, we are on holiday after all! But after standing in the heat waiting...Another shower was needed!
Also, we felt the hotel on the whole was way over priced.
The spa however, was wonderful, as was the evening nature walk.

On the whole a good trip. Would we return...... Not sure. Prefered Tioman Berjaya!

We recently spent two weeks here, and were married at the resort during our stay. We had approx 30 family and friends also stay here. We all had the most fantastic time! The wedding was perfect, everything was done by the resort (flowers, decorations, hair and makeup etc) and the buffet on the beach afterwards was amazing, and we all danced on the beach afterwards. It just couldnt have been better. The whole stay also great; I agree some of the rooms need updating, but our room was clean and everything worked, and the rest of our group thought the same. We were upgraded for free in our second week to a premier chalet on water which was fab. The staff are all super nice, esp to the kids. There were 6 kids in our group of 30 and they all loved it. All restaurants have highchairs and most also have a kids menu. The pool and pool bar is awesome and the breakfast is great - everything you could ever want to eat for breakfast! The restaurants are more expensive than other places in Langkawi but I would not rate them as pricey compared to Melbourne restaurants. The thai restaurant is fantastic and the chinese and japanese are also pretty great. The shuttle service is fine, every now and then we waited up to 5 mins but mostly it was really quick, and if it wasnt for our 1 year old son we would have just walked all the time as it wasnt that far and its a nice walk. All in all we were really happy with the whole trip and wish we could do it all again!

I am not a "resort person". But the Berjaya Langkawi is a great little adventure in itself. The rooms are all located on the beach front (expensive) or in the rainforrest (garden view). We stayed at a garden view house. This is right in the middle of the jungle, you can watch monkeys right from your balcony!

Yes, the resort is big, but because it is all very spread out you never feel like it is crowded at all. There are different restaurants to choose from, all with great quality. The Thai restaurant on its private sea pier is the best! But even at the simple beach restaurant you enjoy great views of the sea, the island and the incredible tropical private beach.

Staff have been very helpfull and friendly all the time. The little busrides to your room through the jungle are fun!

Rooms are good with good quality beds, no bugs in the room (how do they do that!?). Our bathroom was a bit old, probably due to humidity of the jungle location. But with a good shower, no problem. Do not expect a 5* city centre room in the middle of the rain forrest, although they do try!

The free jungle walk in the evening is fun to do, especially for animal-blind city people like us.

Negative: as you are in a resort, everything is more expensive. An hour internet will cost you RM28, if you go to Cenang beach outside they will charge you RM3. And I had to pay RM6 for using 2 blank sheets of paper to print my boarding pass. Not really a 5* treatment!

But to summarize it all, I would definitely recommend you staying here for some nights to enjoy the jungle, the beach and the food!

On arrival at 5PM checkin there was no hot water. It tooks 5 hours to relocate us to another room were the fliash was not working and similarly tree other of my friends accompanying us on the trip had problem like air-conditioner not working broken toilet flush and the ere was a big spider in one room. No manager came up to apologise for the inconvience caused even at the time of checkout after two days.

Web pictures have nothing to do with reality! You may be seeing cute houses on the water (which is only 3% of the available rooms), but wait until you step inside. Regular rooms are dirty, haven't been redecorated for ages (actually 17 years) and very low in terms of aesthetics. You may wait for more than 10 minutes until the inter-bus comes to pick you up (it may be raining), while even facilities would be decent maybe 20 years ago. Hotel should be 3-star (instead of 5) and definitely does not worth the money!
