Just returned from a third excellent stay at this resort.
As per previous reviews, the renovations works are still on-going at the resort. I can honestly say however that this did not in any was disturb us nor detract from the experience of the resort. Yes certain sections of accommodation are closed for renovation and one of the restaurants has moved location (but the same excellent menu available) – but that’s about it. We experienced no noise. My only negative comment about the renovations is that that it is not clearly stated on the website and I was not advised of this on booking (done by e-mail) nor was any discount offered in relation to the renovations being on-going.
In fact the work in progress renovations did us a favour in that the resort seemed less than half full and as a result it almost felt like a private resort – not that it has ever felt busy.
We had one of the newly refurbished rooms which was great - furnished to a high standard with an exceptionally comfortable bed and powerful shower.
The staff throughout the resort were, without exception, extremely friendly and helpful. As returning guests, this was recognised and our stay was personalised accordingly which was a nice touch.
Food was superb and fair value given it is easily up to international standards. The Happy Hour at the Sands pool (1730-1930) is great value for booze but take a quick trip to one of the duty free outlets on the island and you will find beer cheaper than coke!
We took a great boat Mangrove Tour via the resorts seasports centre. Had an excellent and knowledgeable guide (Zoher) who gave us a great tour through the mangroves near the resort and I highly recommend taking a tour with him if you can whilst there.
On the negative side – wireless internet provision is free (which is commendable) but I found it to be patchy and slow and certain sites (including Facebook) did not seem to work at all. I would hold that fixing this is part of the renovations.
This resort is a real gem, so all in all another lovely relaxing stay and we’ll be back.
