Working at a hotel myself, the simfoni was really a big surprise. As we checked in, no one offered to help with our bags. We had backpacks and carried them up to the room ourselves. This wasn't a huge deal because of the price of the room, but after being in our room and doing the typical "room check" my friend noticed a mouse ran under the bed! We immediately called the front desk, and they did not understand us. I thought they had, but when 2 "trainees" out of uniform showed up in our room 10 minutes later it was obvious that they didn't know what was going on. When we were able to get our point across they didn't really say much, but moved us to 2 rooms down. This room seemed a little more updated, but still had a ton of mosquitos flying around. We also noticed clothes hanging on the balcony. This was because all of the "trainees" were living in the room next door! I confirmed this when I went outside for privacy for a phone call and looked over and the young lady that was there for the "mouse incident" was sitting in her bunk bed 3 feet away from me in her pjs! The hotel did not seem even a little full, so I'm sure there were other rooms they could have put us in. Also, throughout the evening, we heard a lot of running in the halls, loud giggling, and of music from this room next door. It was another thing that wasn't a huge deal, just very surprising to us. I have to mention the mosquitos again. We personally killed about 20 a day in our bare hands. We only had the window open for a few hours on the 1st night and on the 3rd night we were still trying to kill them so I don't know where they were coming from. We all woke up everyday to bites on our arms and one of us even had about 10 bites on her face! It was really overwhelming.
Another surprise was the situation with the toilet paper. I know is seems like a strange topic, but we were only given a small amount and had to request more and less than a half roll was given to replace the last one. We were there for 4 days and there were 3 girls in our room so it was really strange.
Pros- huge space (2 bedrooms, sink, fridge), free breakfast, balcony, cheap
Cons- super uncomfortable bed, weirdness, mosquitos, location (had to take a cab everywhere and to call one costs extra $), easily confused staff, tv was in the room, but we needed our own converter to actually plug it in and it still didn't work
We booked this last minute and it was inexpensive. If you're going for a fun vacation I'd suggest booking closer to the beach and pay the same amount for a room and you won't have to spend so much in cabs.
