The Restaurant can seem a bit familiar as its the same place where you eat breakfast at the Andaman so it lacks a bit of the wow factor that you get at some of the other restaurants but it is still in a magical setting and the staff are incredible, we ate here twice 4 nights apart and the staff all remembered our names, which table we liked the last time and even how we liked our steaks. And the steaks are amazing, who knew Langkawi was a place you'd find great cows but they certainly know their stuff here, mine was cooked to perfection. Prices are reasonable too.

We loved Jala, it felt like the perfect posh beachside restaurant where you could dress up in your resort chic but turn up barefoot and feel the sand under your feet. The feel is upmarket but so relaxed and the food is undeniably wonderful. We chose ours from the seafood display, all just out the sea and you can choose exactly how you like it from an array of cooking methods and sauces. The squid was ridiculously good and the fish excellent. The service as we came to expect from every restaurant at the Andaman was brilliant. The restaurant is right on the beach and the sunsets are spectacular. It wasnt cheap, double the price of the other restaurants at the Andaman but it was a memorable evening.

Dear “Kavax”,

Thank you so much for your kind words here on Trip Advisor. It is great to hear that our concept is experienced exactly as intended. The sand and the open air concept combined with smooth jazz and an elegant table set up form the perfect setting for the freshly caught fish coming out of our kitchen.

Chef Rene was happy to read that you opted for the Seafood display as this is certainly one of the highlights of the restaurant. Freshly caught fish straight from the Andaman Sea forms the basis of the experience that you describe at your table. This freshness combined with our uncomplicated but tasteful preparation, sauces and sides make Jala into a truly unique restaurant.

Please do let us know if your travels bring you back to our beautiful island, we would be delighted with another visit.

With warm regards,

the fresh seafood is good but selection somehow limited. I would have expected a bigger selection given their access to the Andaman sea....

Dear “j_trio”,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review here on Trip Advisor. We do use these comments to further improve ourselves and are always happy when we receive a review.

We acknowledge your remarks regarding the seafood display. During your visit, the fishermen had challenges due to weather and certain species of fish tend to either move into deeper waters or hide in the coral reefs, from where we don’t want the fisherman to take fish. The offerings on our seafood display are solely dependent on the catch that these fisherman make, but also on our strict guidelines for it. One of our core values is sustainability and we do not accept fish below a certain size or weight, the consequence of this is that we sometimes have to refuse fish.

This sustainable policy should of course never be the reason for any disappointment with our guests, for which we would like to offer our sincere apologies.

Thank you once again for your review and do let us know when you travels bring you back to The Andaman, we would be delighted looking after you once again.

With warm regards,

This is a new restaurant at the Andaman Hotel it has a unique setting where the floor is all sand. Upon arrival they take your shoes and place in a basket so while dining you can feel the sand. The setting is very romantic as it is undercover, but outdoors by the beach. The menu is AL La Carte and you can select from their very array of fresh seafood. We selected our meal from the fresh seafood display where you can have it cooked it many different ways. We had a feast, we chose prawns and lobster for entrée and chose it have it grilled. It is served with condiments. For main we had the red mullet steamed in banana leaves this came with three different side dishes of your choice. Then there is dessert well all I can say its a must. This is perfect for a special occasion and not really on the cheap side but worth it.

Dear “Blueye2”,

Thank you for taking time and post a review here on Trip Advisor, greatly appreciated!

We love that you highlighted our Shoe Concierge as we wanted to do something unique for our guests upon arrival, particularly when we wanted to ensure our guests got the best experience from our sand flooring.

We do agree with you that the restaurant is set in one of the most beautiful locations on the island. Right on the beach overlooking a beautiful secluded bay, whilst enjoying the sand between your toes - it has romantic written all over it!

We are delighted that you enjoyed our fresh seafood display as we pride ourselves in only providing our guests with the freshest possible seafood. Our lobsters and prawns are a perfect starter, and arrive freshly caught from the Andaman Sea. It gave chef Rene great pleasure reading that you enjoyed the Red Mullet, steaming it in this particular way keeps all the juices inside the filet and produces a flavourful piece of fish.

Your comment regarding the pricing is duly noted; we do recognize that with our search for the freshest possible fish we cannot compete with other establishments who are using frozen fish on their menu. We do constantly try to monitor the pricing levels of other competitors to keep on offering value for money to our guests.

Please do let us know if your travels bring you back to our restaurant, we would be delighted in welcoming you back.

We heard about the Jala restaurant in langkawi and we decided to try it. The restaurant had a big place to display the catch of the day and ways of cooking plus sauces to go with it. We ordered the crab meat with the black pasta as a starter and grilled fish with hoi chin sauce as per Manager's recommendation. My friends chose from the display barracuda half grilled and half steamed , the fish was over cooked and hard to chew for both ways. The restaurant prices are very expensive however we enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine too. Fresh seafood and scenic place yes , but not recommended for gastronomic people out there.
