We stayed at Frangipani for 4 nights and it turned out to be a very good choice. It was comfortable, had private beach, decent food, friendly staff, water sports, nice pool and live music in the evening. Sea view room size is ok not too big but has all facilities. Kids enjoyed the pool and we enjoyed shopping at Pantai Cenang market which is very close to the hotel.. just MR 8 by cab. Cleanliness wise I will rate 3/5 coz many times plates were not removed from outside our rooms. Very basic breakfast, not much variety but tastes good. So overall a very comfortable and relaxing stay.. worth staying here. Very helpful staff :)

We weren't expecting a new, modern and luxury resort so we weren't surprised when we arrived. The frangipani does need to be updated, especially the gardens, but it really didn't phase us. Our room was lovely, spacious, and had everything we needed. The pools were great and most of the people staying here would spend the day by the pool with their families. We swam in the beach when it was safe too but the pool was cooler than the ocean water. The staff are friendly and happy and we enjoyed the live music during the week. This place is great and we spent most of our time lounging by the pool and eating the roti chanai special for lunch. There are restaurants within walking distance that we ate at for dinner. It's relaxing and peaceful, just what you need for a lovely stay.

This resort doesn't deserve the rating of 41/2 star, it's 3 star at best. It is looking "very tired" and needs a good renovation. We stayed in a garden view cabin which only had 1 window so was very dark and needed lights on all day. The beach is ok but needs to have the rubbish cleaned off it more regularly. Pools are ok. Staff are friendly.

We arrived around 1pm and was overwhelmed to be told that we are given a ''complimentary'' upgrade to a beachfront villa and an early check-in as our room was ready.
Upon checking-in to our villa, we realized that it was not what we wanted, as we had booked our stay here due to their unique outdoor standing shower concept. The villa they gave us doesn't have it. It is weird though, as I later realized that it was coincidentally the only villa by the beach area without an attached outdoor shower. So we told the bell boy, who was very helpful, and he went to ask the reception for us. They then agreed to change our room but we had to wait until 3pm. Having to wait for nearly 2hours on a hot stuffy weather and watching everybody else check-in but us was a little uncomfortable. Every time we went to ask about our room the answer would be: housekeeping was still cleaning up, check-in 3pm.
After the wait, we finally checked-in at 4 mins before 3pm, to a BIGGER room. I was appalled by this as generally the term ‘upgrade’ means bigger rooms with better views/facilities/amenities & etc. But in this case, the only good thing was the villa was on the front row on the beach, which for us, doesn't make much difference from the seafacing villas. We sure are glad we didn't took the said ''upgraded'' villa as our villa was clean and much more spacious with a nice view of the sea and most importantly, they have the attached outdoor shower. In this case, we felt that we were somehow being ''tricked''.
While waiting, we went to the restaurant for our welcome drinks and the staff here is more friendly and helpful. Mr. Ben, for one should be complimented on his efforts. When he knew we were waiting for our room, he offered to help us call and check with the reception. Very nice of him to do that. Also, it is very lovely to have some drinks during the evening by the beach as they have live band playing. Their drinks & food are at very affordable prices too.
Both the saltwater pool and chlorine pool looks inviting, though we didn't had the chance to try it out. The spa compared to the ones outside is slightly more expansive and the packages weren't that interesting and were very basic. We requested for late checkout at 1pm and the receptionist was very kind enough to allow us, taking her time and explaining that we could use the facilities and store our luggage there.
My only complaint is that, I just don't think the management should upsell Villa #309 as a higher end room when the size is arguably smaller and is the only (as what I observed) villa that has no outdoor shower.
This is our second visit, and apart from having to wait for our room til 3pm (that I understand as I too had requested for late check-out) and the room upgrade incident, our stay was pleasant and we would still choose this resort again for our next visit.

Arriving early evening , the room was a let down for the price but it did open up to the uninterrupted view of the sea. Staff are very friendly , as good as I have met. Very tidy and clean. We felt at home and welcomed. I think it just needs a face lift. Don't know about the restaurant, you can eat anywhere .Food places non stop

We booked there tow connected villas for 4 days. The rooms were too small, bad ventilation, very bad smell. Insects every where.
The hotel has a good view beside the beach but its a risky beach full of jellyfish.
There is no activity to do especially after 8 pm they close the swimming pool !! I don't know why !! Because people go for tours all the day and at night they like to swim but for no reason they close it.
There is tow jacuzzi pool both COLD water open from 11-8 pm !!!
No internet in the rooms, you have to go to the lobby which is too hot and the insects will eat you their.

Arriving late at night and shown to a rather drab block of 'de luxe' rooms first impressions were not that great. After making a couple of complaints about problems with the room safe and a broken bedside light we headed for the bar for drinks and snacks. The house Merlot was corked and the Gin and Tonic flat so impressions continued to travel south. And the crab and satay appetisers were dreadful! However management had fixed the light etc by the time we returned to the room.
With sunrise and the cheerful cockerel waking us at 0430 the spirits lifted, a walk around the property confirmed what a gem this place really is, breakfast was good though competition to use the toaster or get an omelette was always a challenge. In daylight the room though a little tired was really all that we needed, nice balcony, comfortable bed, good storage and clean bathroom. We looked for food in local restaurants and found the Sun Café just 100m from the hotel, what a find!
The Frangipani grows on you, the staff are so helpful, the location is truly brilliant and its good value. The beach access is first rate and the salt water pool was wonderful, lots of loungers and umbrellas, perfect for a long weekend. I'd go back next week!
