Stayed at Awana Langkawi for 2 days 1 night. Booked a Deluxe Garden View room as all the other rooms were fully booked. Upon arrival, i was surprised to see how big & beautiful was the hotel. Check in was kinda slow..took them around 20 mins to settle my stuff. Hotel had this "funny" odour which is hard to describe or say what it smells like. The sea view scenery & the boardwalk was sooo breathtaking.. Felt like just laying back and enjoying the view since my room was facing a garden.

The room was clean, nice & spacious. The bathroom was kinda small & the flush didn't work..Thank god i had a handy man in the group who fixed it up. Room has a balcony facing the entrance. No lcd tv..lol. Ordered a bucket of ice & 4 glasses via room service but i never received it. I had to go down & ask and they sent it to the wrong room..

Breakfast was average. There's no beach around the hotel but the hotel offers free boat shuttle to a private island/marina. Boat departs at 10am, 12pm, 2pm & 4pm according to the receptionist. You need to make a booking at the reception. Sometimes the timing mentioned above may not be accurate as they rely on the sea tide. Honestly those who plan to meditate or need a peaceful escape may go ahead & spend 2 hours ++ in this private island. Trust me there was nothing!! I felt sooo bored. Grrrrr.....

Adult pool was small & not deep at all. As i was there during peak season, i was unable to swim much as it was overall crowded. Overall i would rate Awana 8/10. Will definitely visit & stay there again but this time is definitely gonna be a sea view room! :D

Excellent location with some great sights around the hotel or when traveling to the hotel from the Jetty point. With the Island hopping and other tours starting from the hotel piers, it is very convenient as well. The rooms are spacious - my double bedroom had two comfortable queen size beds. The restaurant is decent - with breakfast coupons included with the room bookings (at least for mine). The staff was not that good - I asked for some extra coffee sachets and that was promptly refused.

Easy to access the hotel if coming from the airport - a bit far from the Jetty point. The road directions are also not good - I was traveling towards the hotel in my rented car and felt lost at few points. Has big parking space available for free.

Stayed with ma parents at Awana since they deserve a break. Check in was quite ok. Book for a deluxe seaview room.

I'm impressed with the bed as it is very spacious n overall de room also. Breathtaking view at de balcony as it gave a total view of de quay where boats parked and de islands across! Simply awesome.

Even it's placed far deep but it's worth it. Most time need taxis to go anywhere but we don't mind at all. Was happy to see ma parents sitting by de balcony n loving de view with smiles in their faces. Although we went on a rainy season. Could hear boats passing
by n it's closed to those who wants
to go island hopping. Pool was good fer kids though. No beach but a nice boardwalk to enjoy de scenery.

Breakfast was good and their F&B staff greeted us in n out. Reception was friendly too.

Now de slight downside, get the pestbusters in please. Normal in hotels.. De unwanted visitors dat crawls. Cockroaches... Seen 2 at de toilet n I let them do sum surfing at the toilet bowl. Haha!!

Well I dunt like to complain but I hope de management take in ma constructive feedback. Other than that... Awana is a good place to stay n of course de view is simply de stressing n breathtaking!! Will come back soon!!

Booked the Hotel as part of a Package offered by a Budget Airline. Our booking was not in the system as the airline probably didn't update the Hotel. Not the Hotel's fault. The room was big with 2 queen-size beds. Quite decent but definitely the room and the hotel have seen better days. Time for them to re-model and change the furniture and room deco. The TV is the normal 21 inch box TV. Only 2 or 3 satellite channel. The rests are local stations and in-house TV channels Even the room key are actually keys and not the swipe cards thingy.. The Bathroom is very basic. My complaint is that they should provide more towels such as face towels and hand towels. We were given the Bath towels only. No extras.

The staff were friendly and quite prompt in attending to your needs. However, the bicycle rental place should open earlier instead of 9:00 a.m. as by then the sun is quite high up. Breakfast spread was ok but not outstanding.

An 'ok' place to stay if you want some peace and quiet.

I got 2 sea-facing superior rooms to spend a 3D2N vacation with my wife and my extended family.

The room was large with high ceilings. The views are spectacular. That was a welcome.

Not appreciated was that we had to share our rooms with roaches. I personally killed over 15 baby roaches over a spand of 2 nights. They hide behind the mirror in the toilet (hint).

Cancelled our spa appointments at the hotel after that.

Also, we get awakened every morning around 5am by the sounds of the motor of fishing boats.

Location wise, it is brilliant (near Pantai Cenang).

This is my 4th time at this hotel over a span of about 6 years and would be my last. Standards have been dropping drastically. Being awaken by sounds of motors is one thing, being surrounded by baby roaches at 5am in the toilet is another.

Awana Porto Malai: The first site of the hotel when you drive towards it is charming and welcoming. Located right on the pier would greatly help Island hoppers and snorkeling enthusiast (you can catch that extra wink when everyone is up early). Standard rooms are unbelievably spacious. The only down side (vicinity wise) in my opinion is its location to the active part of the town. Beach, Shopping and restaurants are bit far from the hotel. Swimming pool is sensational especially if you are travelling with kids. Decent choice of breakfast but fairly disappointing and pricy room service menu. I would advice dining around Pantai Cenang beach area (10 minutes drive).
IMPORTANT: You would be kicking yourself if your travel plans falls during the fasting month of Ramadan or the monsoon season
