“Not up to the standard !!!”

I booked the rooms through Booking.com online. On 27 December 2013, Rooms were not ready when we checked in. Front Desk a total disappointment making us wait while they go about talking with their colleagues on some accounting matters. We decided to have lunch in the Cafe Sri Dayang while room cleaning in progress. Room 622 condition is very dllapidated , window lock is broken, key energiser fell off when we insert our room key. The shower controller and basin stopper controller are broken. There was no hot water flowing from the tap at all !!! Bathtub is dirty ,i felt so disgusted to take a bath !! Housekeeping did not do a proper job, they did dry cleaning during our stay.There is no consistency in housekeeping standards, first day we had 2 complimentary bottle water, but second day was just 2 miserable cup water.!!! Breakfast food has no quality . I am totally amazed how did this hotel survived with a Grand Continental standards. It was very very disappointing stay for us. !!! Nevertheless, coffee house lunch was great and the service staff were great !!!

Room Tip: If these are Premier Rooms..what else could you get out of this???

Stayed at Langkawi Grand continental. Good hotel. Clean rooms. Good services. Not far from the ferry point. walk able distance. Good break fast but with fewer vegetarian choices. Friendly staff. nearby markets not far. enjoyed.

The hotel is located at city centre not near to the beach but a short drive to the jetty.First when we checked in the toilet is not working and we found a coackroach in the room and request to change the room and were given a slightly better room. Hotel is very run down but still accepetable for the price .In my opinion the management need to maintain and do some refurbishment to it

We booked this hotel by seeing the pics but it seems that they have been modified.
The pool is just a useless one with birds dropping all over. Room corridors stink due to lack of any ventilation. Our original room was filled with mosquitoes and after lots of argument that got changed (initially told about no availability, and hence forcing to be in same).
Outside there's a stinking ground, and the waste dump is where there should be a small garden instead.
Breakfast is junk with not much options for vegetarians. Bread was stale so we only got to eat watermelons. Tea/coffee was already made (to save dip satchets) so consistency was bad and even temperature was cold.
For the room service when we asked for additional tea-bags the staff told us to be billed additionally couple of RMs, but later secretly put some in hope of getting some tip...

However there's a good mall located just besides which is a nice place to shop.

Doesn't justifies the price of a 3star hotel, seems more of an inn rather than hotel.

We immediately tried to get a refund after checking in. The room smelled really bad. A mix of food and old cigarettes plus the shower was mouldy. We were given an upgrade to make up for the bad room which was a slight improvement. This is a smoker friendly hotel which explained the bad smell. We dont have a problem with smokers but we do have a problem with the smell in the room. Old carpets & lack of cleaning doesn't help this either....which can also explain the cockroaches in the room.

There's no airport transfer provided by the hotel, check in process was slow and no good services was given. No porter. There's no aircon in the lobby, only one fan near the check in counter and there u can see three staffs were chatting away and were using the mobile phones. There's no greeting at all and they simply don't care if guests around. Customer service is 'ZERO'. Hotel management should look closely into this.

Rooms we stayed in was old and run down. Toilet was horrible. There's nothing much to describe. I'm not sure how the hotel earn the 3 star rating. Pls don't fall for the lovely photos u saw in the hotel website. I think those pictures were taken when the hotel were newly open 5 to 10 years ago. There's no water in both of our rooms from 12 to 7pm due to daily maintenance. We were asked to go to the other room if we need to use the bathrooms. There's no service recovery given to us. Those planning to stay, pls take note. To get a cab, we need to walk to Langkawi Parade. Breakfast was boring, same menu thru out.. There's rice, noodle, fried hotdog, baked beans or pudding, egg station, prata stations, porridge, cereal stations, cut fruits and hot&cold drinks. We had this for 4 days. Sigh...!!!

In all, we paid US$600 for a lousy hotel stay... Truly disappointed.. Will not recommend to stay...!!

Stayed here for 4 days in November as I was running a course here. I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel at first because I remembered that it used to be very run down. However I was pleasently surprised. The hote had undergone a facelift and it is now very clean and nice. You could see the sea from the rooms on the higher floors. Shopping was just next door. Prices were comparable with those in the bigger stores. In fact some items were cheaper. The hotel could arrange for car or bus rentals if you require. Staff were very courteous and friendly.

Room Tip: stay on the higher floors if you want glimpses of the sea
