“A great experience”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

We stayed at the Rebak island resort for three days and each day was a memory of its own. From the time we arrived till the time we left the place, not a single moment was dull. There is a yacht that ferries you from the main island. The place is beautiful with lot of activities to do. Food is awesome. The breakfast buffet served lot of vegetarian Indian options which was a good relief from having bread and cornflakes everyday while in Kualalumpur. The rooms are quite spacious and had a breath-taking view of the sea. Only drawback, there were lot of mosquitoes around inspite of spraying pesticide. Overall, an amazing experience and we loved the hospitality of Taj.

Room Tip: Choose a sea facing room over a villa.

Rebak Island Resort is located off the Langkawi Island and need to be reached by a boat. The main port (Port Langkasuka) is about 5 min from the Airport and the resort is 15 min boat ride from the port. The resort runs scheduled boat service free of cost so really going to the main island is not a problem.

Reaching the resort we were treated to a glass of welcome drink ,some wet towels and a beautiful view of the lovely beach and very well maintained garden.

We had to wait for an hour (initially was upsetting) to get our room as we were ahead of the check in time. However when we were escorted to the room we were awestruck with the room and the view from it. The resort has the best bathroom I have ever seen. They are spacious and beautifully done. The rooms are also quite spacious with a balcony which had an amazing sea view.

There are 2 highlights of this resort. The first is the scenic beauty of the place. The beach is calm and beautiful, the resort is very well maintained with lots of greenery.
The second is the staff. All of them are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and extremely courteous. I would here like to mention 2 people who stood out amongst all- Hamid and Ankit. They were polite and extremely helpful. The staff are very well organized be it room service, housekeeping, outdoor activity or just the buggy service. Other than during the check in time we dint have to wait for anything even for 10 mins.

The restaurant is slightly expensive, but being a 5 star resort this is justified. You can do kayaking and cycling 1 hour every day which is free of cost.

As far as thing to do in Langkawi goes we hired a bike from the resort at 80 MYR for 1 day and went for sightseeing- Sky bridge, Crocodile farm, Kuah town…
The second day we went for Mangroves and caves exploration which was booked at the resort itself (Dev’s Adventure) which was truly spellbinding and showcased the beauty of Langkawi.
The remaining days we spent relaxing in the resort itself.

Truly one word that explains Rebak Island Resort is Awesome!!!

Room Tip: Any sea view or even partial sea view room.

My partner and I absolutely loved this place for its relaxed chilled out island setting and the wonderful attentive, observant but non fuss! fuss! staff, the sort of thing that really irritates at some five star hotels.

From the time we arrived we knew we had made the right choice as an isolated hotel on an island is not for everyone but the beautiful setting , clean safe, swimming beach ,immaculate room [ours was sea front with a view of our own monitor lizard on the rocks] with a never ending supply of bottled water made this stay very memorable and again a credit to the cleaning staff.

We would consider ourselves quite lizard like as we like nothing better than to laze around by the pool and beach, there were sun beds aplenty and the pool staff were happy to arrange everything for you. There seemed to be plenty of activities arranged for the week plus bicycle hire.

With regard to food, we ate themed buffet most evenings although there there is an a lacarte, Some evenings were better than others depending on your personal taste. I don't think grilled slipper lobster is too harsh on anyone :-) . Breakfast is plentiful and wide choice of western and asian options.

There is also a regular shuttle boat back to Langkawi which can be exhillerating if the sea is choppy, but does offer a good regular service.

One morning at breakfast we were greeted by the General Manager, by name - he had not met us previously and this kind of attention to detail is indicative of all of the staff at Rebak Island.

If its your thing, then have a happy hour cocktail on the beach at the small rustic venue. Here you will meet some very interesting characters resident at the local marina. Our regular bar mixer and shaker, Yans, deserveres a special mention - always smiling and on the ball....

To summerise, this resort is great value for money, don't come here if you want mutiple high end dining options, BUT if you want and expect a first class service, in an exotic, private and peaceful location, you will not be dissapointed !

We stayed for 5 nights, if we had stayed any longer we would have beeen horizontal by the time we left (a couple of extra days would not have been a problem !!! ).

Room Tip: Go for Beach View Delux 1st floor if you want to be in a quite part of the island and have uninterup...

One of the most memorable holidays. Wonderful in every aspect - location, hotel, Accommodation, people and overall experience.

Mr Sandip Mukherjee, the GM, a true host, and his entire team made it such a great holiday. Every aspect was looked into - and with such care and warmth.

We intend to return.

We had 5 nights here and though it is not up to Taj standards we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff absolutely make this place. We had the fantastic Jalal as a housekeeper/butler. What amazing service every detail was taken care of to make us feel so special. And we were not in the expensive rooms! The food I think is excellent great breakfast spread and dinner buffet, different every night, however you can order anything you want... amazing. Lunch was ordered when we felt like it. If it's a relaxing island getaway you want this is perfect. The staff are terrific. I recommend this resort.

Taj the name itself is too gud to expect a lot, though it is situated beautifully but once u are there u are almost cut off from the rest of the world . Food is not at all satisfactory but as mentioned u have no options to go out at night and dine , must improve food quality

We stayed for 4 nights in a superior oceanfront room and I can't remember a more relaxing place than the Rebak Island Resort. Never had an issue finding chairs near the pool or the beach despite our stay was during Deepavali. The grounds were very nice and most of the times we were walking we didn't saw another person! It was so peacefull.

I had some concerns re. the boat transfer but this was totally unnecessary. Boat was very safe, and actually quite nice! You never have to worry they would overload the boat because when the boat was full they would just set in a new one.

The rooms are very spacious and clean. I must admit the balcony door is ready for an upgrade because it didn't close properly. You must spray against mosquitos because this is an issue overthere. And I think it's a pity that the bathroom is so poorly lighted.

The staff is one of the nicest I meet during all my holidays. It was my daughter's 20th birthday during our stay and they nicely decorated our room and the breakfast table and presented her a birthday cake. She felt very special. All the staff were very nice and helpful. Some even refused to take our tip after their great help.

One tip of advice: if you go to Langkawi and want to take a taxi back to the boot transfer please mention you have to go to PORT Langkasuka. We only said Langkasuka and so we ended up in Kuah at the Mall Langkasuka and missed our boat....

Food was mostly Indian style (buffet) but if you order a la carte there is so much choice and for this kind of resort still good priced.

I would love to return to this property just for total relaxation!
