The hotel is on a private island, away from the city, with breathtaking views, good rooms and a lot of activities to do.

The moment u come to the hotel, you are greeted by friendly staff who take you to the reception in the golf car (Golf Cars are used to take you around or commute on the island and it is free for the hotel guests).

They serve you a fresh pineapply juice drink and quickly take you to the room after breifing you about all the services and activities and things to do at the island.

Its a great family place, and great for honeymooners. You can book your private dinner at the beachside, candlelight dinner away from everyone. You can do biking, swimming, kawaki boat rowing, just take a walk in the greenery and explore the island. List is endless.

Great place, the service is a little slow though. You sometimes have to remind the hotel person twice to get what you need. But well, they do serve you.

Not very great for vegetarians, as veg options are limited and esp difficult for vegans. We requested the chef for a special vegetarian meal, that was made exclusively for us. The Chef himself took the menu and took care ofus while having early dinner. Which was very good.

Overall, its a must stay place if you coming to Langkawi and want to relax and unwind yourself.

We loved this hotel and will definately go back. From the airport get a taxi to the pier for 12 ringit - don't book with the hotel they charge a lot more Speedboats to the hotel every hour or so, great experience! It's about a 10 minute ride and you pull into a little harbour where you are greeted by such friendly staff and a golf buggy to take you to reception where you feel immediately welcomed. We had a deluxe seaview room which was spacious and clean - petals on the bed one evening etc! We booked with expedia, cheaper to book direct we think. The resort has a ton of activites for free, kayaking, tennis, bikes - a fab pool. There's a little harbour shop reasonable priced for drinks, food souvenirs etc. A beach bar where you sit on bean bags is a treat watching the sun go down. The restaurant is expensive as some reviews have said - but not by UK standards, about £10 for a main local dish - but not bad for a private island overlooking beach!! Obviously Lang Kawi cheaper, you can go back on the free boat almost hourly, last one back 10.30pm. We ate in a nice chinese one road back from the seafront - really cheap but great food. Island Hopping tour is great, bit basic boat wise but fantastic way to see a few islands. Again book on the mainland and don't pay more than 25-30 ringit.

The rebak resort is certainly a great resort to stay at, for reasons I list below. I think the point to emphasise first though is around the location. Being located on it's own island, you're at the mercy of a ferry schedule, and then at the mercy of taxi drivers at the other end who know you have little option but to take them to go on trips or out for dinner. On the other hand, if you're after seclusion and pure relaxation then this is ideal. Although we're of the former disposition, given the great value of the place we found I'm still happy with our choice.

A few positives/areas for improvement:

+ Very helpful, friendly service from every single member of staff throughout our 5 night stay. A few 'stars' around who were good for conversation and anticipated what we were after right away.
- It would have been even better to have more 'stars', as although very friendly and utterly determined to be helpful, many of the staff just didn't have strong enough English language skills to deal with more complicated requests (noticeable especially at meals, any special requests or altering our order made for a bit of a chore).

+ our room was excellent, not at all tired, real 5* quality (e.g. his and hers sink, very spacious bathroom, walk in shower). Was very clean, and was cleaned superbly every day.
+ As long as you request it, you can get wireless internet within reach of your room - this was great for me as I'm an addict - although it is very slow - but just very happy to have it in Langkawi

+ Breakfast was very good, as others have mentioned
- The rest of the food was good, but overpriced i feel due to the absence of any competition on the island e.g. MYR45 (£9) + 10% svc for beef rendang, which can be easily had for MYR15 (£3) in a restaurant on the mainland.
- I was surprised to be disappointed by the cocktails - they're actually well priced, especially at happy hour, look very good but then taste very watered down - none of them had any 'kick' whatsoever, even when I asked for them to be made strong. In one instance, I saw half of my tumbler being filled with rum, half with coke - and yet still I could barely taste a hint of rum! That was just our experience anyway. My benchmark on our holiday in Asia incidentally had to be the Traders skybar in KL - 'deluxe margherita'there is magnificent

+ Really beautiful resort, very well kept grounds, great pool, tennis, table tennis, pool table available.

+Finally, I think it's only fair to review in the context of the price paid - we paid £63 a night through Expedia (don't book through the hotel's own website), which compared to other 5* hotels on Langkawi is very cheap indeed - For this price, the resort is absolutely excellent value, just do price in the cost of lots of taxis or relatively expensive food and drink before you make your decision.

taj as always delighted me and my wife with amasing servcie quality. every person you meet here displays the unparallel servcice sytandrads. rebak taj is located in beautiful pvt island REbak. the movment u reach Taj u will understand this place is quite famous with sailors.

i stayed i delux sea facing room, must say rooms are spacious and luxurious. activites advised by the hotel are worth trying as they are best in town ..... we went for water sports, magroove tour, and snorkekking tour,,, taj outsourced this activites to local tour operators must say they where through proffesional and made sure our money is worth spending...

what makes taj different from others is thier service standards. every one make sure u have a memorable time. though i know it wont be fair to thank any one in particular but i must mention following people whom we thought we must mention as they where better than best.
lobby mgr Mr lopez, our friend in bar Adi, chef micheal, or house keeping man cant recolloect his name....,,,, al the interns they where really sweet and highly motivated.......

while breakfast offered can be better, in house spa is not recommendable.

Lovely island and spacious accomodation but lack of activites on the isalnd so u have to take the free ferry back to the main island (where you then had to take a taxi as the jetty is the in the middle of no-where) The last service to get back was around 7pm.

We had a few problems with the room, mainly as it seemed there was a limited number of electrical devices that could be used at any one time, so we had to keep calling the electrician to swtich between the TV and kettle. Room service for ice was also very slow.

They had free cycles for use but most were in poor cponditions, the brakes were dodgy and they only had a single gear, the seats also dodn't adjust but as the resort is so small, you could cycle around in 10 mins.

The swimming pool was large, but it was nenxt to ehbeatiful sand beach ... so spoilt for choice. The staff was very helpful and freindly. A romanitic getaway for couples but too quite if travelling alone.

The only other gripe is the restaurant food was at best, average but the prices were extremely high, esp for malaysia. All itmes were 5-10 times the price the local price on the mainland. That was the onloy place you could eat so book HB otherwise you'll be stung at the end of your stay!

this is a great hotel the staff are friendly and the room we had was big, comfortable and had sea views . the breakfast was one of the best i have had at any resort, lots of options and all fresh and hot . the one problem i had with the resort is having to plan ur day around the ferry service to the mainland it goes at irregular times and we found ourselves waiting for the ferry quite a lot which wasted our time. if you just want to relax on the island at the resort this would be great but all the nice restaurants and things to do are on the mainland . you can book your activities from the resort but everything is 2 to 3 times the price. the resort offered us the island hopping tour they charge $75 per person we paid $25 on the mainland and we were on the same tour as other people at the resort. it was the same with food , it was a very nice restaurant at the resort but there were lots of awesome restaurants on the mainland that were 2 to 3 times cheaper . if you were to stay at the resort i would recommend hiring a car on the mainland and parking it at the marina as the taxi charge you 20r for a lift in to town and a car only costed 75r ($20aud) a day . we would have been better off staying at the pelangi beach resort where i stayed a few years back it is a much better position and just as good resort if not better
