“Beautiful outdoor museum”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

I spent a sunny morning in this extraordinary attraction right across Jalan Pantai Cenang from Casa del Mar hotel. The premises of the museum were amazingly well kept. There was an interesting exhibition with some nice dioramas in the main building (AC). Outside it was nice to stroll along the edges of the small well kept rice paddies. There were even some water buffalo grazing. Definitely worth visiting if you're staying in the Cenag beach area.

“Paddy fields”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

Its interesting to walk in a paddy field near a town area, but its not upkept, unless maybe its a weekend. Feels good to walk thru it and experience a tad of village life.

“Not really a museum”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

The reviews for this place are quite mixed so we went along not knowing what to expect. If your idea of a museum is a series of exhibits all carefully explained and well signposted then you may be disappointed. There are few signs and no explanations - if there is an actual indoor museum then we didn't find it. But the attraction to us was seeing rice cultivation, and there it's pretty clear what is going on - rice in various stages of cultivation and harvesting, in a series of paddy fields over quite an area. There is likely to be someone planting or harvesting etc- all done by hand. You can wander where you like and there's no-one to stop you (or to give you information -so you are on your own!). There are water buffalo (tethered) in the fields, and lots of ibis and chinese herons, as well as kingfisher etc. We just enjoyed the atmosphere and the rather chaotice nature of the place....it seems almost an anachronism being directly opposite Casa del Mar, Tripadvisor's top rated hotel on the island....but we enjoyed that contrast and the sense of going back in time. And it's free...!

“Pleasant gardens, walk through rice paddies”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

These gardens are pleasant to spend half an hour to an hour strolling through. The rice paddies are interesting as are the exhibits, especially about the Field of Burnt Rice. This is conveniently located at the north end of the Cenang strip.
