“Give it a miss, especially the Sea Village”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013

My wife and I booked to stay here in July. Arrived late at night in the dark and taken to our Sea Village suite after being checked in by the most miserable unfriendly reception staff. It was the worst room I have ever had the misfortune to stay in ever. The sea village is so old it is literally falling apart. Don't be fooled by the photos on the website, they must be so old. The Sea Village doesn't need a makeover, it needs pulling down.

The aircon was so noisy and held together with a bandaid..truly! The floors were wooden but in bad disrepair my wife got splinters in her foot. The furniture is so old it was hard to work out what was pattern and what was a stain on the upholstery. The bathroom finish was so shonky it looked like a 10 year old had tried some running repairs. The bed was hard and ungiving and the pillows like bricks.

The new infinity pool is very good, happy to give credit where it is due.

Breakfast was pitiful, so little choice and the fruit selection consisted of about half a dozen pieces of fruit containing only 3 different varieties.

I complained about the standard of the sea village room and the fact that it had cost me almost 1100 dollars for a dump and the hotel relocated us to a vacant newer villa room which was really modern and nice. However, the balcony looked out onto the new construction of their premium rooms and the whole hotel smelled of concrete dust.

There is nothing at all within close proximity of the hotel, no bus service so you will have to take taxis to the two local towns. There is one convenience store across the road from the hotel but their prices are high.

We disliked it so much that on the 3rd day we packed up and hopped onto a flight to Penang.

Room Tip: If you really insist on booking here, only stay in one of the new villas.

Room : Big and awesome
Toilet : Awesome
Beds : Their biggest room that I had which is Room 711 has a Queen bed and a Single bed, you might wanna opt for only King bed, although the room is large enough but the sleep quality is not enough with Queen bed for me, unless it is good enough for you.
View : Still under construction so it's not great but the room makes up for it.
Breakfast : They have pretty decent food and varieties, they even have Roti Canai!!! but it's provided in Langkawi Lagoon Resort as the Ombak Villa's restaurant is not open yet.
Service : awesome!
Price : I paid for Promo price RM450 approx. which I find it worth it for a beautiful place like this!

This place is so new that the bath tub still has white residue on it, so it's best to come once they are done probably after August if they have the promo still, other than that, I'm happy with it!

I absolutely love it, the best value hotel I have ever stayed in. There is no place as relaxing that I have ever been. Our room was lovely. We never encountered a single employee at this hotel who did not greet us with a smile. Anyone we encountered a second time remembered our names. Service is absolutely superb and even a notch above what we have come to expect. Our experience was completely excellent.

Do not know where to start with, being a regular to langkawi i generally try different properties since there are so many to explore, but even though i know the roads and area very well reaching this place was a pain. the 1st glimpse of the property is surely awesome - sea chateaus...decent reception ....but the services suck.
The check-in took nearly an hour though we were the only ones at the reception, then instead of checking 4 of us they checked in only 3 and asked for additional payment for 4th. After showing all the online booking receipts (for 4) they took additional 30 min to correct their mistake. The room was decent - not great at the price like other langkawi resorts available at same price. But the minute you stepped out in the balcony of your room - their was a stink in the air .....we just couldn't enjoy the sea facing view with fresh air as the windows and open area had to be closed off to keep the stink away.
the rooms are really far away from the reception area and you have to either walk to access internet as room wifi not available or call for a golf cart to fetch you. But alias irrespective of how many times you call the same - it practically never comes.
strongly not recommended irrespective of the price they offer - its like ruining your holidays. I checked out in 1 day instead of 4 planned.
the only decent area is the pool and the view from there - overlooking the lagoon

Nice hotel, but the lobby did not have aircon and it is very hot.The welcome drink was refreshing. The website showed 2beds- a queen/king and a single, but we were surprised that the single meant sofa bed.The website claimed there was wifi in the room but they told us that the modem was not working. The beach in the resort was bad because it looked very dry.The water did not come up to the shore.

Overall, it was a good stay.We enjoyed it!!

This is our second time here. The first time was in 2007.
In 2007 I would have given it 5*, but six years later, the resort seem outdated and needs maintenance. That explains the 4 star. If any of you had visited the resort in its earlier years, you know what I mean.

The water resort that we stayed needs some facelift on he outside. New paint, new wood etc.
The wood floor at the pool needs replacement. The roof hut at the garden needs some facelift. The roof is leaking and the fan is all rusty.

But the breakfast remains excellent. The staff friendly, The welcome drink was great.
This is potentially a beautiful resort in a great location, hopefully the management will revive the great yesteryears .
