“Quite possibly the worst resort in Langkawi”
Reviewed 17 November 2010

On the basis of mostly glowing reviews from this site, we opted to stay at this 'resort' for 5 nights. We could live with the fact that it's location was away from anything of remote interest and construction at the building site next door began each day at 7am. We also tolerated the unfriendly and unhelpful attitude of the staff. The preponderance of Burkhas, the fact that the only alcohol served there looked like it had been there since the 70's and the totally empty mini-bar indicated a distinct muslim favouring. Deal breakers however, were the filthy conditions of the sea village room and the broken shower covered in mildew, the feral cats happily defecating around us at the beach bar, the shabby pool and sad little swim up bar. The staff deferred to my husband at all times and completely ignored me, including the offer of tea or coffee at breakfast. We decided after the second night to cut our losses and utitise the only positive thing there, being the free internet, to look at alternative accommodation. We relocated to the amazingly wonderful Andaman resort at Datai beach which, by the way, was a mere $40 more a night - talk about the ridiculous to the sublime!

Stay in the sea village if you can, it is very quiet, spacious & very clean. Not a sound to be heard. A short stroll to breakfast is well worthwhile. Breakfast is amazing. Every taste is catered for.
The beach is lovely white sand although the water is a little murky. The swimming pool more than makes up for this, it is very large & beautifully clean.
Dinning is a delight. Variety & service great.
The staff were all friendly & always helpfull.

I loved the hotel beach view. The hotel is really calm and relaxing. The rooms were not as roomy as I wished but they were OK. I liked the hotel's breakfast many varieties. Th ehotel is located very close to island's airport and with 10-20 minutes of driving to most tourist attractions. I tried the Arabic resturant in the hotel but it did not meet my expectations.

We stayed 4 nights, and were upgraded to a Sea Village room, which was a lovely suprise, much better than the normal hotel. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, service was all good. The room was a bit 'rustic' but attractive and with a balcony looking out to sea ,which we really enjoyed. The A/C units are rathr noisy though, next to the room, even though we didnt have ours on that much.. Nice beach , though no one on it, jellyfish season.. Pool good size and well kept, unlike the bicycles we would have hired, but they are dangerous and badly maintained. Their tour and information desk is pretty woeful, pick up the brochures at the airport if you want info about the island, book elsewhere... The breakfast buffet was fine, bit of a mixed bag for all tastes, but you can find something and there is plenty of it, well worth getting up for. there are a few visitors from Arabic countries, so you have to be ready for burkas etc. It is a taxi ride to everywhere, but taxis not very expensive & there are always taxis waiting at the hotel. We took one for 2 hours overview of the island, it cost 70 ringgit,(about 17 pounds) We didnt try the restaurants unfortunately, but they look nice. Overall, we enjoyed it very much & I would really recommend the Sea village for romance and mystery, its well kept & a buggy is supplied to get there, though its just a short walk. No ATMs anywhere we saw, so take currency (can change at the hotel desk) Free internet near Reception, not in rooms. If you want tonic water , buy it outside.. no Shhhh in hotel.

The hotel is away from the more lively areas of Langkawi, a few minutes drive from the airport. It is very quiet with absolutely nothing within walking distance to eat or shop. The hotel itself is very nice, one of the newer ones, lobby nicely decorated with plenty of seats to sit and use their wi-fi (chargable to your room). Room we had was one floor up,there was a lift but we didn't bother and just used the stairs. Our room was very clean and fresh, very spacious and welcoming, nice bathroom, even a kitchenette. Loved the deck and little private beach for sun-bathing. Only down-side was the service, they were not very helpful and seem almost rude when we asked a few questions. However, if you can put that aside, it is a pleasant resort to stay in. I would definitely recommend this resort for couples or friends wanting a quiet and relaxed stay.

We chose this resort as our honeymoon destination because we're attracted to the houses on stilts into the shore. The resort is everything it claims that it is: serene, beautiful private beach, and well-trained staff who are very attentive (growing up in Malaysia I know that you'll often have to jump up and down your seat to get a waitress' attention).

The resort has a really well thought-of concept, it would have been perfect if the concept were to be carried through and maintained the way it was meant to be:

The rooms - really nice, but could do with a little more up-to-date in room maintenance on little things such as power points that are halfway off the wall, sliding doors that no longer work, a missing glass panel in the shower, etc.

The kitchenette - it is very thoughtful of the management to give guests a kitchenette, however, without the utensils and cutlery. I don't see anyone would be bothered to travel with pots and pans.

The restaurants - when we looked on Tripadvisor, it was mentioned that there are 3 restaurants on site that sounded really good in terms of variety of Malaysian and Western food. But when we got there, one of them has become a Turkish restaurant which was not quite what we expected, and we were only left down to 2 restaurants to dine in. Although the food in these 2 are really good, we were still rather disappointed as we were quite looking forward to the local food experience.

Taxi - we booked our airport transfer prior to arrival, but realised that we were 3 times over charged than the standard taxi fares to the airport (we found out that Langkawi has a fix taxi fare system according to destinations) which we were not too happy about. But they did let us cancel the departure day's taxi and got another one ourselves.

Location - it is quite a distance from the main duty free shopping area and attractions, but if you're looking for a really quiet and relaxed holiday at a private beach not being disturbed by the jet ski and other water sports ala Pantai Tengah area, then it's a good choice. But going out for food is a bit of a travelling, especially when our original plan was to dine in the resort most of the time but failed. It is however very near the airport, just under 10 minutes' drive.

All in all, it was a pleasant stay, even with the little surprises here and there. Certainly hope that the management would take action on maintaining the rooms as it is truly a rather unique and charming little resort. And it would be perfect place if you are a Turkish food lover.

This hotel is not that far from the Cenang beach area, but it wouldnt be a problem if u rented a scooter or a car. Its tucked away nicely for a nice romantic holiday.
The staffs here are very friendly too.
