“shhhhhh- keep this secret!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2014

This beach is hard to locate if you are not familiar with its location. But it is sooo nice. The beach is small, located in a protected cove. The water is clean and clear, the white sand is powderly with no shells! The beach provides lots of shade. There is a concession stand a few meters from the water, and there is free toilet and shower stalls to use.I vote it as #1 in langkawi! But i secretly hope that it stays this quaint form without swamps of people!!

“From good to terrible!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2014

This beach has now been handed over to a resort operator (Mona Resorts) who has a few chalets there and they are now collecting RM2 per person for access to the beach. This is supposedly as they clean the beach and maintain the public facilities. Previously the access was free and you pay RM1 to use the shower facilities which is reasonable.

The beach is still nice however the public facilities are not maintained at all!!! All the Men's toilets were out of order, with one toilet door almost falling off and all toilets did not have any running water including flush not working since no water. The two urinals were overflowing with urine. None of the sinks (4-5nos.) had running water. There was a high tap which you had to fix to a garden hose to use as a shower.....8 of us were queuing to use it!!!

Ladies toilet was no better, two large blue pails outside which had water and ladies had to use that water with a scoop. Wife had to move one pail with 1/4 water left into ladies tolet for daughter to "bathe".

Effort to speak to the operator was met with defensiveness and arrogance!! Was informed that the toilet door was just damaged "yesterday" and he had all ready complaint to the relevant authorities to have it fixed. Informed him that I was a hotelier and understood this thing happen but he should resolve it in other ways. He did not seem to be concerned of the lack of cleanliness & basic facilities and was proudly announced that he was a seasoned hotelier and came back to promote Langkawi...walked off at this point and told him that he was not true hotelier as he did not understand customer service and was promoting Langkawi negatively.

Such a waste of a great beach to have the experience marred by such an arrogant operator who shows no empathy or do injustice to the trust given to them to manage it. He was more interested inarranging local cakes for sale at the sad excuse for a cafe that he was operating there...

Unfortunately photos that I took of the toilets were accidentally deleted....I'm sure anyone going there can verify the details above on the toilets

“Small beach away from the crowds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2014

The beach is located 1/2 hours drive from Cenang on the north east side of Langkawi just follow the direction to Dantai (Dantai is a private beach at the end of the road). It's easy to pass it as you can only see a parking space next to the road. Which is great, because it makes the beach a quiet place to be. I was there during Christmas and we had to pay a fee of 2 ringgits. The fact we had to pay a fee made it less crowded, although it was high season. The beach is nice white sand with view to small islands. It's possible to rent a small cottage (4 in total). There was also a tiny coffee shop in the shadow and public toilettes we used for free.

“Beware of unathourised collection of entrance fee!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

Pasir Tengkorak is wonderful - a small bay with fine sand and it is somewhat shaded.

What I would like d here is to warn people that a woman who is the cleaner of the public toilet, places a table at the gate and collects entrance fee from unsuspecting visitors.

This is a PUBLIC beach. Visitors need NOT pay anyone for use of the beach. Tell her off and just walk in.

“Silky soft sands and aquamarine clear waters”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

Visited this beach back in Dec 2013. It's on the way to the Andaman/Datai, you need to look for a parking lot on the right. I believe this is the best beach on the main island of Langkawi, actually better than Datai Bay itself as it has very clear waters unlike other beaches on the main island. Quite a number of people, mainly locals and their children at this beach but noticed increasing popularity with foreign tourists as during my visit, they seemed to be streaming in gradually. This is one of the last public beaches in Langkawi and let's hope it stays that way. I couldn't help but resist going for a short swim in the warm, pulsing clear waters. Almost reminds me of Tioman.. haha. Loved it. Beach was maintained quite well. Oh, there is a RM2.00 entry fee which was strange.
