“Still excellent”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

Last time we stayed at Datai (2011) they were re-building this restaurant. For still very good - could recommend virtually all dishes from the menu - right length. We ate there three times.

Good idea of having wines by the glass (good choice that include Cloudy Bay, top Alsace, white burgundy from Louis Latour).

I would say that the new location is not as romantic as the old one as now one does not hear the sea, Also, they say the noise of frogs is not recorded, however not so sure.

Perhaps there are other places that serve tasty Malaysian food as this in Langkawi, but I would not think that the tastes are so clean (one can identify separate spices if trained to do so, but they are blended to give the correct flavour to the dish. Of course, it cannot be cheap as it is part of a luxury hotel. Also, not for vindaloo/lager lovers.

“Memorable meal”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

We walked from the beach of the Andaman to its new location in the forest. Its situation right in the rain forest ensured we had a orchestra of cicadas and frogs to entertain us during our meal. Ayam percik and rendang really superb and cocktails fabulous. Helpful staff arranged transport for us back to the Andaman after dinner. One of the most memorable meals we had on this island.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

Some of the best Malay fusion cuisine in the whole of Malaysia. A pity it was moved off the beach to an inland position in the redesign of 2011 but still a place of food pilgrimage. The beef rendang is to die for. Go.

“Charming and delicious”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

Really lovely food and service. The lobster with Malay spices was great. Two vegetarians who scoffed the dhal, nicely nuanced flavours in the curries and perfectly cooked rice. We loved it!
