Jega's corner is a crowdpleaser. The food is simple and homely, but very tasty. We had a fish and a chicken curry and both were great. Small minus was the lack of drinks and bottled water. This is easily forgiven when you are served a big smile by Jega himself. Even for Malaysian standards his hospitality was something truly special.

When I saw that this was top-ranked in Kota Bharu, naturally I wanted to give it a try, as I love Indian food. Well, it wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't deserving of 5 stars. The selection is very limited, and it was just already-prepared stuff that the man there (owner?) spooned out cafeteria-style. For a vegetarian banana-leaf set, I got a large amount of rice, ladles of the thinnest dal I've ever seen (with big chunks of potato and carrot, a bit odd, somewhat lacking in flavor though not bad), a small amount of a potato curry and salad, and a pickle that was spooned out of a jar. The potato curry was alright, the best thing on the plate, but with the big chunks of potato in the dal, it seemed repetitive. When the rice is considered, the meal was almost all starch. The interior is fine (though nothing Indian about it, if you're the type that wants posters of Agra and Madras and Bollywood music in the background you'll be out of luck), the gentleman there was very attentive and spoke passable English, the meal and a glass of iced tea were 7 or 8 RM in total. So while there wasn't any major gripe about the restaurant, I just thought I'd temper the expectations of anyone expecting to get blown away.

Just across the road from Crystal Lodge Hotel, Kota Bahru - you can find a very good restaurant serving excellent indian food,(on the same side of the hotel-40 metres away). The father and son team operate the business. They will ensure you enjoy the food. We asked for a very simple meal as we were rushing off to an appointment. The place is nice and clean with an open kitchen. Nice concept. You get friendly service and generous helpings of the curry. It is also priced reasonably. We noticed that there were many regular local customers who dine-in and many take-out orders as well.

We understood that the chef was working on-board international cruise ships and 5-star hotels prior returning to KB to operate the restaurant business with dad. We enjoyed the food. Very nice. It is definitely value-for-money. Must try the special fried fish and curry.

Very personable service by owner with a big smile. In fact this includes excellent staff and a wonderful dad. Owner is a former cruise ship chef. Excellent English and local who knows city and culture forward and backwards.

Opened April 2013. TD food = Totally Delicious. Curries cost 7-8 Ringhit. Jega the chef recently stopped his job on the cruise lines incl. Queen Mary 2. This is a family run business a stone's throw from Crystal Lodge. If I had any complaint it is the menu is not big enough. I have had food as yummy as this but never anything better. Also VERY nice people.
