Lots of good write ups about this restaurant. Opens only in the evening for dinner. It seems most of these "famous" food places are only opened for dinner in Kuantan.

Satay is average. Quality of meat is good but beef is over marinated. Personally, I feel satay in Kajang is better. But if you are in Kuantan this is the place.

Our friend kept on telling us to try Satay Zul when we are in Kuantan & so we did. We can see that the staff were busy cooking the satay from outside the restaurant and there's even a queue for takeaway. Wow, this must be good. When we got into the restaurant, the staff who served us has an attitude that say "ok be quick about it, what do u wanna eat?" We ordered and within minutes the food came. The satay were cold and he only brought a bowl of satay sauce (later we asked another person for more) for 5 people and a plate of cucumber + lemang. Few minutes later, 4 people came and sat next to us and the waiter brought 2 bowls of satay sauce & 2 plates of cucumber + lemang. This is small matter.
We ordered 2 coconuts and 1 of them is bad but it wasn't changed when we told them. Goodness!! Our order for lamb satay didn't come until we reminded them. This time round the satay is hot! This is what we have been waiting for, not cold satay. Anyway, this is the 1st & last time we are going to eat at Satay Zul.

the staff were unfriendly. I have no place to sit and they just pretend like never see me. I sat outside on wet chair and table. they took so long to get my order. but the satay was good!

Drove by when they were closed. Didn’t look like much of a restaurant.
But we came back when they were open for dinner and found a hole lot of people waiting at the take-away counter. Inside it was also full of guests, and we were given a table and immediately got a bowl of peanut sauce. We ordered three types of satay, and some plain rice and a nasi lemak with fried egg. Completed the dinner with some iced lemon tea and were very happy! The satay was the best we have ever eaten in Malaysia!! Especially the satay ayam (chicken) was soo good. And the sauce was yummy. A dinner for less than 30 ringgit, and it was good!!!

Satay Zul has long been a feature at Jalan Telok Sisek. It is a two storey corner shop lot which appears simple. But once you step in and see the crowds, you will realise it is something special. The food is at least.

Their satay is great - delicious and tender, and there's a variety of satay from beef, chicken, tripe (perut), sometimes venison & rabbit is also available. Other than satay, they also serve other malaysian favourites like soto ayam, noodles, ais kacang etc. So even if there is a stay-non-lover in your group, there will still be plenty of choice.

They are only open in the evenings. Friday and Saturday evenings are always very busy so be prepared that you might not get a place. Service can also be slow.

Satay Zul does have another outlet at Malay Town, Kuantan (opposite the stadium and opposite East Coast Mall) which is newer but smaller. The food is of a similar standard.
