“Good experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

My wife and I needed to stay in a Hotel in Kuantan for a couple of weeks before our rental house was available. For my wife this was a first time to Asia experience. The hotel shuttle picked us up on time from the airport so a good start. The price we paid was an internet price and was very competitive. On arrival we were impressed with the standard of reception and the staff. Our room was large and clean with modern fittings and lovely bedding and towels.
The food and drink in the hotel was good quality and a very good price for a hotel. The pool and Gym are very good and kept my wife occupied during the time I was working. Both being modern, very clean and well serviced. The best part of the stay was the friendliness and service from the staff. Parking is free and secure under the hotel. The East Coast Mall is two minutes away across the street so easy for basic shopping and for a change of food. Overall a very good experience.

Room Tip: If you ask for an upgrade they may well be able to help The Titanium business suite is opening this...

Compared to other popular Peninsula Malaysia destinations like KL, Malacca and Penang with their myriad shopping, dining, entertainment, cultural and other touristy attractions, Kuantan is a yawn. So it isn't hard for Zenith to be a standout choice due to the absence of comparable 4-star accomodations within the town centre itself.

Rooms are ok, interior decor is average, buffet breakfast is decent. Service is warm and friendly, although a tad slow. Bathroom has unattractive white lighting compared to the warm yellow lighting of the room. Shower door leaks water like crazy, so expect your bathroom mat to get soaked after a shower.

Shampoo/conditioner/shower gel bottles are ridiculously small and obviously insufficient for two persons' average daily usage. Personally, I find it irritating to have to call housekeeping or to catch a housekeeper staff along the corridor for extra bottles when sufficient quantities should be planned for.

I also find it cruel that the goldfish and other ornamental fish in the lobby are kept in such narrow glass tanks, that instead of swimming naturally in a horizontal fashion, they have to forcefully descend and ascend constantly within a tight space to keep water flowing over their gills and to avoid clashing into one another.

All said, you would be hard-pressed to find such clean, modern accommodations within the town centre itself. Unless you are willing to drive further afield to Hyatt at the beachside or Cherating Beach, where higher standard accommodations at higher rates are available.

Still pretty much a new hotel, big and clean rooms with modern facilities. The hotel is located right infornt of the East Coast Shopping Mall, so shopping and other food outlets are not an issue. There are even a few local restaurants just behind the mall, if you fancy.

If you would a change of phase, try walking over to the Berjaya Shopping Mall, which is about 10 mins walk away.

The morning breakfast at Zenith is great. You get a large variety of food options, ranging from western to local dishes.

The gym is well equiped and most of the time its empty, so you can really focus on your exercise routine. The only drawback I see with the gym is its operating hours from 7am - 10pm, it would be great if could be open much earlier to carter for the business travelers.

Stayed again at this hotel for the second time. This time it was during the CNY holidays. Chose a family suite for four adults. Not impressed with the room. There was no dressing table and the lighting was quite poor. There was a bad odour from the toilet bowl and had quite a problem with the flush system. Could the sewage tank be blocked? As for toiletries, extremely stingy. There were only two small bars of handsoap and a small bottle of body soap. Certainly not enough for four adults!!! We brought along our own shampoo even though it was provided. The tissue paper and toilet roll was already partially used when we checked into the room. They should have been replenished. There were only two mugs available when the suite is for four adults! Breakfast! Ooooh, there was such a long queue. It was already 9.40 am then. As for the buffet spread , it was more or less the same throughout our stay there. How about serving waffles or pancakes as well? The Men In Black - coat and ties! Is it so difficult to smile? This post is certainly not for you then!!! Thumbs-up though to those people manning the Front Desk. Continue to smile and keep up the good job. Will I be back again? Maybe!!! To see if there's any improvement!!!

Room Tip: Any room with a seaview but not a family suite.

We stayed here in Jan 2012 for just one night as a stopover. It is a tall building and not difficult to miss. It is located right next to a shopping mall (Carrefour & Parksons) which makes it very convenient and ideal for a shopping stopover.

We were pleasantly surprised with the spaciousness of the room we stayed. We chose Deluxe Superior Family. Great for a family with 3 young kids. The room was clean and well maintanied. It had a small sitting room and a very comfortable reclining sofa chair that was good enough to sleep in. We had a great view of the surrounding town, thanks to the full length window and being on the 17th floor.

We were concerned when our toilet bowl got choked in the morning, We called for maintenance and they responded and fixed the problem all within 10 mins. Impressed.

Buffet Breakfast was at the Ground Floor restaurant The Dining room .It is just your average international spread. I found it a bit too crowded and lack cosiness.

As most things in this part of Malaysia, also this hotel is average compared to other hotels in the South East Region. There is a lot of every thing though badly maintained, without a true sense of hospitality and most of all without that additional spark that makes it special.

Room Tip: This is the best hotel in town, though compared to KL, this is still average.

I stayed here during my first business trip to Kuantan. Very impressed with the building design, so conveniently located in front of EC Mall. However, it seems like the promotional rate which is rm230 will hike up after January12. Really satisfied with gym, however the opening time should be made earlier around 6:30am. The food spread for breakfast is good.Highly recommended.
