Stayed 7 nights at Pangkor Laut resort in Feb 2014. Service was very good, facilities very nice and we enjoyed all restaurants, the spa etc. Staff are in general attentive and service-minded - some more experienced than others. During our stay, we experienced many examples of excellent service, and hence it would be hard to mention some staff members and others not. However, Rehman at the Beach Club pool is a prime example of a person fully understanding the concept of good service, Din at Jamu Bar and Fishermans Cove clearly recognised our food preferences and took appropriate actions and Dwi's morning cappuchino made an excellent start of the day. Many others should have been mentioned here.
We took a package (ordered via travel Agency) including full board, sunset cruise and daily spa treatments. The hotel itself has quite similar packages on their home page. When taking a package, the quality/price ratio is quite good. Looking at the "official" prices for dinner, spa etc., our stay would have been rather expensive and with a less favourable quality/Price ratio. Hence, I recommend to go for a package; either via travel Agency or the packages offered at the hotels home page.
Examples of prices are: Seven-up 11 MYR (including all charges) in mini-bar and restaurant, nice lunch burger with fries etc. at Royal Bay Beach Club is around 55 MYR (including the charges) and (genuine French) champagne at Fishermans Cove is 460 MYR (including all charges)´; rather lower level "European" Price level.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Pangkor Laut is a privately owned island located three miles off the West Coast of Malaysia along the Straits of Malacca. This piece of paradise has been 2 million years in the making, and here you will find one of the world's premier resorts nestling in the shade of forest giants as old as the land. You will find no other resorts - just secluded bays curled around pristine beaches, evening skies woven with colour, and a deep sense of serenity reserved exclusively for our guests. A combination of luxury, natural beauty and age-old wilderness woven together to produce an environment where peace and magically memorable moments are the currency. Of the island's 300 acres, only a fraction has been developed to house the Resort and its eight Estates. Wooden buildings blend seamlessly into the forest as if nature had been the architect dictating how walls curve around foliage, and roofs open up to allow trees to continue on their journey to the sky. Nature is respected here, almost revered, and it rewards visitors in ways that simply need to be experienced. ... more less
