We stayed 3 day 2 nights in this wonderful resort and have a lovely time. At the end of the 3rd day we are reluctant to leave.

What i like best of the room is the bath tab. Enjoy soaking in it. The sevice is very good and the staff is very helpful. The morning breakfast buffet is good. Do not miss out in the middle back section of the food table as the are more spread there.

We took lunch at the Royal Beach Clud and the food is good. As for dinner, the food in Uncle Lim is also good. Heard from the Restaurant Manager (who is a very nice and friendly) guy that the kitchen is managed by Uncle Lim who has worked for the restaurant for 29 years ie since the time the resort was open. He is 80 years and looks very fit. When asked him what is his secret. The answer is be happy.

The Emerald Bay is beautiful and the water is crystal clear. If you like to 'donate' some blood, go for jungle tracking.

We stayed for 5 nights and had a lovely time. The resort, lobby and the ground were very nice. We were very impressed with the standard of service and attention to details of staff. The beach was so well kept and swept every morning, however, the sea water was a little dirty may be seasonal. More details:

- Experience with reservation - took 4 days to to respond to email enquiries, bad experience with phone call & advice re bus from KL to Lumut. We asked the hotel to recommend a reputable bus company to get to Lumut but this reservation staff member said she was only allowed to give advice on hotel transfers

- Check in was smooth & efficient at both Pangkor Island Marina & Pangkor Laut island

- Package included a sunset cruise & was very nice - canapé was very tasty & staff were very good. The boat went around the island - main jetty, Pangkor Estate, Emerald beach & back. Unfortunately the sunset was not spectacular as the sun was hidden behind clouds. Only 7 takers on the sunset cruise none got sea sick except for the bar attendant, however he did try his best to look after guests despite being unwell

- Had a hill villa as we preferred views of the sea from up the hill instead of sea level. The view was very pleasant. We were lucky to get the upper villa as the view was more expansive than the villas below. Being a bit lower I think the views might be obstructed by trees. Unfortunately right opposite Pangkor Laut was another island with a resort & a multi-storey school not so attractive to look at

- Were advised not to swim in the front beach as the tides were higher & could be a bit dangerous plus higher risk of jelly fish. Shuttle vans took guests to Emerald beach which ran every 15 minutes. The beach had a net to prevent jelly fish. Every morning on Emerald beach, about 4 to 5 staff were raking the sand to get rid of debris. The sea water was full of small particles of debris & algae which was not pleasant & had to shower immediately after being in the sea water

- Food - average in the Royal Beach club. Uncle Lim's restaurant was very good, had two of the signature dishes duck spring rolls & fish aromatic and both were delicious. Breakfast buffet was nicely presented & good quality

- Service was excellent & consistent in all areas of the resort (except reservation). Good indication that staff were very well trained

- Spa experience - had Campur Campur treatment. The overall experience was great. The bath rituals were very different but was a bit of a show rather than substance

- Child friendly resort - high chairs and smaller toilet seats to accommodate little people

- Combination of the two factors loud/inconsiderate neighbours & thin wall made our stay very unpleasant: the first lot of guests was talking loudly on mobile phone at 1am, the next morning we could hear their 6am wake up call & all the packing noises and suitcases being dragged out of the room. The next lot of guests had loud music on in the evening. Could even hear them having sex. We complained to the hotel & requested a staff member to come up to hear the noise & address the problem. A manager on duty turned up and very apologetic, he asked the guests to turn the music down which they did & not put any guests in the next door villa for the rest of the the stay

Pavarotti had cried because of the beauty of Pangkor Laut. We almost cried because of the loud noises!

From the private jetty in Lumut before boarding the boat till we returned after 3 days and 2 nights, the reception was heart warming all the way. The villa was very luxurious and the amenities were plentiful. The restaurants served good quality food with a wide selection from various stations - for all meals. The management need to try harder to minimize the swarms of flies doing food tasting. Emerald Bay beach is a nice private hideaway with no crowding and regular free shuttle rides were provided from the main area. We came prepared to do a bit of leisurely fishing but were informed that it is strictly no allowed - even with many suitable spots around. Wifi is limited to the Library (lobby) area only. All around the resort the staff were very friendly esp the waiting staff at the main restaurant.

Stayed at the garden villa. Room is spacious and clean. Very comfy. During the day there are free shuttle rides to the beach Emerald bay. The beach is clean and exclusive as it is a private resort. The food was just so-so at the Chapman's bar and Feast village. Uncle Lim's kitchen is quite good. Staff was friendly and accomodating.

Such a beautiful island. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Entire stay was absolutely brilliant! Right from someone welcoming us from Jetty till we left, it was heart warming. Waking up to the chirping birds & the tall trees make you feel that you are in dense woods. Seemed like a real get away from all the hustle & bustle of city life. All the staff were very courteous, warm & welcoming. Rooms were super clean and awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We were put up in Hill Villa rooms and I found it to have the best sunrise view :)
A small bump was on 27th Feb 2014 - Phone lines were down the entire morning & we wanted to check the breakfast timings. Unfortunately had to walk up and down to check the timing :(

I have 2 points to make:
1. Prices at the Restaurants don't make any sense at all. Dinner for 2 was 400 MYR and is exorbitant is my humble opinion.

2. I see that the island itself is not very well taken care of- very untidy when you walk around a bit. There is a lot of non degradable rubbish thrown around servant quarters, which I think management is responsible to post bills on the way/place trash cans. As much as the island gives itself for our pleasure, nature should be taken care of :( :(. Please see attached photographs.
