This lovely spot, hosted by delightful people was just the place for a relaxing, laid back weekend. It is nestled in the hills with great views & birds to watch and tons of games to try. The accommodations were great & breakfast was yummy. Go & enjoy!!!

We took a 2 week long tour around upstate New York with our 12 month old, this was our last stop. We were so ready to be home we considered skipping it, but that changed within the first couple of hours of being here. The owner, Don, met us in the driveway and took us on a walk around the property when we first arrived. Wow, it's quite a beautiful place. The guest house is nice, with a stunning view from the large balcony on the patio upstairs. We enjoyed driving around to the farm stands, local dairy, and picking rasberries during the day, and relaxing at home in the mornings/evenings. This was quite a paradise for a city boy want-to-be farmer like myself. It was a sad day when we left to come back to Dallas. It was Oct 2009 when we were there, and it brings back great memories to write this review. The hospitality was great - they left us our own space but were still incredibly friendly. We were sad to leave our new friends when we left.

As the other reviewer mentioned, the owners live in a farm house that is not nearly as nice as the house you'll stay in -- don't be turned off when you drive up.

A picture is greater than 1000 words, so I'll attach some...

Room Tip: the upstairs is definitely nicer than down

This is the only place we ever drove up to and almost turned around and went home. My first words were "You've got to be kidding me"....... (Please read further for explanation)

First of all the B&B was on a great road. No traffic and up on a mountain. When we got to the sign that said Lant Hill Farm - we looked over at the house and this is where I lost it. The house we were looking at hadn't seen paint in centuries and looked quite wild. Across the street was a really interesting looking barn though it too, had definitely seen better days....

My husband and I looked at each other and decided to be brave and pulled into the driveway. There appeared to be another house in back of this one so we ventured a little further. A woman was working in the flowers and greeted us warmly as we were still contemplating our "escape".

We breathed a sigh of relief when she pointed to the house in back as the house we were to stay in. Upon entering we were so relieved to see it was really great inside with beautiful flower gardens outside. The view was as nice as the pictures. Our room was very comfortable and clean and had a slider onto the deck. The deck was huge and the main room off of our bedroom was really very comfortable and inviting. There was original art work throughout the house and we were quite happy with these accomodations.

We met the owner who was quite a charactor. He lives in the front house and his deceased parents had built the house in back. His parents, if I recall correctly, was an artist and chef.

This is definitely a unique property and don't be put off by it when you first drive in.

Breakfast was good and the sausages were fabulous.

We had one of our best days here when we decided to go to Battenkill Riversports in Cambridge, NY which is about 40 minutes away. My husband, myself and our child rented tubes and tubed down the Battenkill River. This is really the best spot and river I have ever tubed in. The river has a sandy bottom in alot of spots and the river is really quiet with hardly any construction along its banks. We even tubed under a covered bridge where children were playing and jumping off the bridge. It really was the most perfect spot and I can't say enough about it. If you get a chance, you must do this especially with children. It's very safe and we spent more time out of our tubes than in them.
We've tried other rivers since then and have never found one as great as this one. In fact, we went back last year and did it again!
The campground really looked wonderful. I was so surprised it wasn't full. When we pulled out of the river, we walked through a corn field and even saw baby otters in a little stream along the way. This part of NY is beautiful with Arlington, Vermont not far away.

Anyhow, all in all, we had a great time. You can't beat the price of this B&B. By the way, if you are a photographer - the front house and barn would be a great place for pictures.
