Last minutes planning to go for a short gateway with family. The resort is small, simple and lovely place to stay especially when you just want to relax. The staff also very friendly and helpful. We arrived during taxi drivers strike, they offered their resort Avanza to pick us up at the jetty. Clean room and pool. Nice breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: If you stay in the below room, don't be to annoyed with the footsteps upstairs because the wall is kinda thin.

Lovely small hotel on the beach with a great buffet breakfast and a fantastic swimming pool. Friendly and helpful staff, welcoming owner. Free Wi-fi. Excellent value for money. A perfect place for a relaxing and quiet holiday. Definitely the best hotel in Pangkor Island.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms and chalets.

We were happy with our decision to stay here, based on Trip Advisor reviews. From checking out other hotels on the island, this offered far more in the way of facilities and quality. The next option is to go for the very expensive resorts. Sandy Beach offered good value for money: clean rooms, air con, clean bathrooms, large rooms, beach and bath towels provided, lovely pool with sun lounges, right on the beach with sun lounges provided on the beach as well. The breakfast was pretty good for the price of the room; I have stayed in more expensive hotels in Turkey with far less breakfast options. My only complaint was that the bed was very hard, and inflamed my bad back quite considerably. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay here very much.
Regarding Pangkor, newcomers need to realize that this is quite a basic island, which focuses mainly on water sports. It is very beautiful and quiet, with some lovely beaches. However there is not much to do besides beach activities, and the restaurant options are very limited. If you are expecting a Bali/ Thailand type experience, with beachside restaurants offering cheap cocktails and wide menus, we only found one restaurant like this, which was Daddy's Cafe. We liked this place very much, and ate there every night, once we had found it! It is located on Teluk Nipah beach. To get there, just tell the taxi driver you want to go to Daddy's cafe. Other restaurants have nice food, but are very basic, with no toilets, often selling no alcohol, or only beer. This makes Pangkor island a different experience from other Asian destinations, and it helps to be aware of this.

Paid RM$315 for one night stay is definitely EXPENSIVE, although the room is clean but all added up including swimming pool, restaurants (breakfast was average, very little choices), it is definitely NOT worth value. Beach was near by but not up to my expectation, sea water is dirty. For the same price I can definitely get a better experience in other beach resorts in Bali, Phuket or Krabi. One word, Pangkor Island is definitely OVERRATED!

We stayed at Sandy Beach Resort over Christmas 2012 and the place was full. We were very impressed with the excellent state of decor and design. The resort is well laid out around a swimming pool but is also close to the beach.

The restaurant is open to the public and serves excellent food at a reasonable price from a comprehensive menu and the staff are super-helpful and friendly.

All in all we would recommend this resort to anyone.

Room Tip: We had a first floor room (the British meaning) near to the entrance and we therefore enjoyed more privacy than those surrounding the pool. But if you want to be part of the action, that's a better place to be :)
