Best Stay Hotel Pangkor Island
Ranked #7 of 18 Pangkor B&B and Inns
Reviewed 6 November 2011

Beststay hotel is located close to pangkor town and the harbour, which is convenient for local breakfasts and shopping, and getting there respectively.

The hotel is neat, the reception service excellent and the rooms air-conditioned, comfortable and look good. The bathroom is a wet room, in that the shower is not separate from the rest of the bathroom. While this might bother some, it doesn't phase me and the floor is very easy to dry after a shower.

There is free drinking water and bicycles and motorcycles to hire from the hotel. We did not hire either on our stay as the locals on the road know that they own it. And anyway, for the three of us that just wanted to go to coral beach and back, it was cheaper to take a taxi there and back (15 ringits each way). But there were other visitors on the road who wanted to explore more of the island, which did look like fun.

The hotel is not located close to the best beach on Pangkor, Coral beach, but it is easy enough to get to with a taxi in 10 minutes. Other accommodation we saw closer to the beaches did not look nearly as nice as Beststay, and for the price, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stumble upon this place when googling on Pangkor and booked it thoughwww.beststay.com.my, for a comfortable price within my budget.

Clean rooms, Water heater ( feels like a massage from the high pressure )
Air conditioning, TV ( good movies ), their towels are clean.
Overall I will give this place a perfect score for a medium range hotel, I was expecting far less before arrival. price was good for what it offers.

It is located very conveniently making it easy to go to the many beaches, historical places and restaurants. 3 minutes to town.

Staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything needed for a nice holiday. They arranged our activities for water sport and make reservation for a nice cafe at the beach for our sunset dinner. They also provide free maps. bicycle, scooter, and car rental too.

Will be back.

Room Tip: I got a triple room which comes with a balcony for me and 2 friends. It was lovely.

I've been to this island a couple of times and stayed many hotels from the expensive ones and to the not so expensive ones. Most of the resort on the island is on a secluded part of the island making it difficult to reach other parts of the island and taxi charge an exorbitant amount when you take them from the hotel.

The small island has many great sights and experience to offer. Watch the hornbills flying, take a hike to the suspending bridge and waterfall, visit every single beach on the island and eat at the many affordable but delicious seafood restaurants.

I've stayed in BestStay hotel just once, but I will be back. Their location was just great and it was convenient to get food and money from the bank. After getting advice from the staff and knowing the price of travel it was easy to bargain with the taxi. They also have cars, scooters and bicycle for rental.

My suggestion for travelers is to not spend so much on accommodation for a resort and take the savings to rent a car, scooter or even bicycles to explore the island.

Their rooms was full furnished.. with air conditioning, water heater for shower, tv, writing desk, wardrobe and drinking water. It is also clean and without smell.

Overall an affordable priced hotel with no compromise.

Cons: No swimming pool ( not complaining for the price range ) but just a suggestion for future upgrade. Visit a few beaches and swam there it was fun compare to a pool.

It's excellent based on the price i paid RM75 ,
* the room is small (but for RM75 is considered big enough) but very very clean
* there's hot shower (heater)
* there's a TV with good movies
* towels are clean

Hope they will still maintain the standard after some years..

Owner speaks good English and Mandarin. He was also the receptionist. He was also very helpful when we asked for help to check out prices & availability for activities and restaurants.

There is no lift, so you will have the climb the stairs. But need not worry as there are only 2 floors.

Spent a night at this hotel after my wife and I made a last minute decision to have a weekend getaway from the city. As most of the branded hotels and resorts were fully booked, the only other option left for us was to search for a simple hotel. Thanks to all the helpful reviewers here in TA, it only took us a few minutes to decide our hotel.

We arrived at the hotel at 8pm and after dropped our bags in the room, we informed Simon (the young owner) that we wanted to rent a motorbike to travel out for dinner. Simon went to his neighbor hotel to try to get us a bike but were told that all the bikes had been rented out. That left us either get a taxi or take a 20mins walk to Pasir Bogak (where most of the good seafood restaurants are). Simon knew that we had a long and tiring drive and a pair of growling stomachs. Hence, he insisted to give us a complimentary ride to the restaurant. Talk about service! We've stayed in quite a number of 4-5* hotels and not many of them can even come close to this level of expectation especially in Malaysia.

p/s : He also gave us a ride the next day to his friend's bike rental shop in the town area.

As for the room, I could only agree with what most of the reviewers have pointed out. For me, clean and simple are the two best words to describe it. We especially love the shower because of the high water pressure.

The only downside we've experienced during our stay here would be their 'main road facing room'. The noise pollution from the motorbikes at the main road can be very bad especially at night and morning. We were unlucky to be placed in one of these rooms.

If you're planning to stay in BestStay, do take note that this hotel is located at Pangkor Town (about 5mins walk from Pangkor Jetty) and 25mins walk to the beach. Also, if possible, try not to get their front room.

From the ferry to the hotel is just a short walk. The room and bathroom were clean. It looks all modern, and there are two good moviechannels on television. Very friendly and helpfull staff.
When you have a room at the frontside of the hotel, you will hear the noise of the motorcycles at the road. Unfortunately there is no laundry service.

I stayed at the Best Stay Hotel with a group of friends and would have loved to stay longer. the staff, the rooms and the service was some the best I had experienced after traveling around the world for a year. The family treated us as their family and I would definitely go back the next time I'm in Malaysia!
