“A good budget option on Pangkor Island”
Reviewed 29 March 2012

Good location in town (5 mins walk from jetty), very very clean (I hope the cleaners are well paid!), nice quiet rooms and mostly friendly and helpful staff. We hired a motorbike from the hotel next door. The Island One cafe is great as is the hawker stall opposite where the taxi's park at the jetty. They sell lots of fried delights including big sardine spring rolls (they may not sound nice but they are!) and dounuts.

Only con was a lack of storage space in the rooms and the mattresses in our room require replacement as they dip in the middle.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room close to the back with window looking onto the central area - noise was not a pr...

A decent place to stay. We rented a motorcycle from the hotel next door and rode around the island. Very close to the Pangkor Jetty (second stop from Lumut). The owner was very helpful. Great budget hotel.

We stayed here for 5 days in February 2012 and enjoyed our experience.

Firstly I hope we can help with some transport information. It was very easy to travel there from Kuala Lumpur taking a direct bus to Lumut (5 hours) which makes toilet stops and drops you off right at the ferry terminal. These buses can also be booked online in advance with Easibookdotcom and you can exchange your printed receipt with the company at the bus terminal for your actual ticket. On arrival in Lumut ferry terminal pay only 10 Ringgit from the office on the quay, return is included in this price.

The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal connecting to the mainland and close to some nice cheap local restaurants and co-op food stalls. We would highly recommend Island One Cafe on the main street which was good quality and very cheap. The best public beach by far is Coral Beach which you can take a taxi to (15 Ringgit each way) or cycle. Note the roads are very steep getting there and may be dangerous.

We thought the hotel rate was quite pricey but our room was clean and seemed fairly new with flat screen TV, air con, and hot water. The English channels were limited but the manager plays a rolling programme of movies. The only problem with this is not knowing when they start/end. The room was cleaned daily and they had cheap laundry service available. The manager was helpful and amended our bus tickets for us. No breakfast was included which we thought was poor for the overall cost. Rooms at front of hotel may be noisy due to traffic, we had a room at the back which was mostly quiet, apart from the local mosque whose call to prayer would wake even the deepest of sleepers. Overall we would recommend, enjoy!

Room Tip: Rooms at front are busy during day but Mosque at the rear may get you up in the morning.

Pro:
1. Clean
2. Friendly staffs
3. Free WIFI

Cons:
1. No Lift (If you are travel with huge luggage, or you travel with old folks or Baby - be prepare to carry all the way up - depends which floor you stay)
2. Basic and small room and bathroom
3. The location is okay which is near to the Jetty - but is quite distance from the major attraction e.g. restaurant or the beach itself. So you always need to hire a taxi to go to the beach or eating in the restaurant.

Really good cheap hotel in Pangkor Town.
Very clean rooms.
Very friendly owners, happy to call taxis and recommend places to visit.
Good TV.
Water dispensers (boiling and cold) on both floors. Just need to remember to bring coffee/tea bags.
Good aircon.
Good shower and bathroom.
Ample hanging space for clothes.
Walking distance from Pangkor Town jetty - about five minutes.
Highly recommended.

....but not near the beaches you'll probably want to go to!
Most importantly, don’t trust Google Maps positioning of this hotel, it’ll make you walk way out of your way and right past the correct location (if you’re clearly blind like me!)
It was a nice place to stay and seemed nicer than most of the other places I saw however I think you could probably get somewhere on the beach for about the same money (but you’d definitely compromise on room quality)

Great place. The staff was very good, and its only a couple of metres walk from the Ferry - just ask someone when you arrive. Please note its the second stop on the island on the ferry from the mainland, not the first. If in doubt, ask. The rooms are clean, a bit small, with a bit of a view on some of them. Good free wifi, no restaurant, but seemingly one of the better places on the island. When we told the locals we stayed there they always replied 'Nice place. Very Clean. Very Fancy.' If in doubt, ask a local. Good spot, but not on the beach.
