Tune Hotel Georgetown Penang
Ranked #38 of 87 Hotels in George Town

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I paid $100 AUD for 6 nights for two including airconditioning (which you will need) and towels. This clean budget hotel is great and the chain is really going to take off having just opened one in London. I think if you visited Penang for longer then 5 nights or to have a romantic and relaxing holiday this place wouldn't be for you. Rooms are small but quiet, modern and the shower really does have power and this hotel has a cafe, internet, downstairs restaurant and 7 eleven, Layla Foot Spa and close to things within Georgetown, next to New World Park, Jalan Nagore and Jalan Macalister. Just a short walk to Jalan Penang and Chinatown.

I booked my parents into Tune Hotels Penang which they visited just two weeks ago and they said it was one of the best places they stayed in their recent journey across Malaysia and Singapore. One thing they did add is that it would be nice to have the option to have a tv or fridge at an additional cost. Neither 4 of us found the staff rude and would recommend it to other travellers visiting Penang for a few days.

I really liked this hotel. My room was small but perfectly-formed, and for the price you really can't fault the high-quality bed and excellent power shower. It's not the kind of place to go if you want to stay in your room but if you just need somewhere to sleep (and shower) you would struggle to do better.

There's a couple of slight negative points. It is maybe slightly out of the way if you want to walk into Georgetown. It's only 15-20 minutes walk but it's not exactly central. The parking is a little difficult and you have to pay a flat fee per entry. But really, these are minor points and the good far outweighs the bad.

I booked through airasia and got a very good rate for 2 nights but the bloke who walked in at the same time got 1 night for RM 64 which is still well worth it. I asked for a high floor with a window facing the sea and the corner room view was stunning!! I paid for 12 hrs of aircon but to be honest it wasn’t that effective and I didn’t need it anyway. The staff where so helpful and polite they helped with hotel issues and tourist information. Took my own towel and toiletries but the hot shower was lovely!

Stayed here while I was attending a conference at USM in July. The hotel is very basic, but provides a lot more than others in the same price range. Good, reliable aircon, hot water, comfortable bed and good pillows. While you pay a small extra for aircon, hairdrier, towel and internet, it really isn't a biggie, and the prices are very reasonable. Just a hint as well, if you want information about stuff around town the taxi guys downstairs are a lot more friendly and useful than the staff in the lobby.

Stayed 3 nights (~RM60/night with 12hr aircon and towel) from 3-6 July. Was given a room on the 4th floor and with window, so that's a bonus I guess. We reached Penang around 8.15am and purchased the Rapid Penang 7-day pass unlimited rides for only RM20!!! Took bus 102 to Gurney plaza for some shopping and lunch before taking bus 101 back to Tune hotel to check-in. I'm very impressed with the bus services of Rapid Penang. Go wiki it for the detail bus routes.

For RM60 a night, I don't know how ppl could complain. It's within walking distance to the famous char kuay teow along Lorong Selamat and lotsa mouth-watering eateries along Jalan Macalister. The bus stop is just few steps away from the hotel and bus 101 brings you all the way to Batu Ferrighi and the Butterfly Farm. 101 runs on a 10-min frequency and there are other buses that can bring you to all the touristy places.

Bed was comfortable and the shower was awesome. C'on guys! RM60! Definitely exceeded my expectation.

This is the first time I stayed in a hotel room which did not have any windows.

We were given a room on the 5th floor and it was claustrophobic. It was extremely cramped up and it was just so small. There was no place to keep our bags, no place to move around and worst of all, there were no windows. That was really messed up. It was suffocating in a way.

The bed and the bathroom are fine, but the overall experience was not very good.

The staff was friendly, helpful and polite.

I would spend some more money and stay at a 2 or 3 star hotel where I dont feel like the walls are closing in on me.

It was very uncomfortable.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback.

We are a limited service hotel and our rooms are space efficient.

There is a luggage storing facility at all of our properties. If you are bringing a lot luggage, perhaps you could consider keeping some of your luggages here and only bringing the essential ones up to your room.

We have some rooms with windows, and you could always request for one during your check in at the front desk. This is however subject to availability.

Thank you for taking time to drop us a feedback

Regards,
Sharon- Customer Care

Booked pretty early, so recieved a great deal on the room rate! The hotel itself is quite new and add-on customised facilities are just right if you have a budget in mind. Food options are plenty in the neighbourhood.
Georgetown is a UNESCO Heritage town, so lots of wonderful places to see in a small town. We loved the food at Sri Anand Bahwan in Little India. Would visit again!
