“Great food at cheap price!”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Saw many good reviews from trip advisor so i decided to try out this restaurant and it turn out to be my best meal throughout my stay in Penang! Delicious chinese local food at a very good price. This place is always crowded -doing very well therefore be there before 7pm for dinner to avoid dissapointment as it will be full after that or you will have to wait for a table. Worth to try!

“Good mid range restaurant in Penang”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

Why mid range when you only pay 12RM for a dish? because compared to the Chinese or Malay food stalls (where you pay 5RM) well I consider it mid range.
Nevertheless the food is well prepared, the service is good (they speak English and menus are in English) and quick. Restaurant is always full so it might indicate that it's doing well..

“cheerful, cheap, very tasty”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

I'm astonished that someone should describe this as "overpriced". Perhaps it is if you want to eat on a dollar a day, but if you actually want good food in a sanitary environment for a couple of dollars (which is about what 10 ringit translates to.)...

The staff are open, the menu has English translations, and the food - especially the double-cooked roast pork (with or without chilli padi) - is fantastic. At lunch it fills up by 12.30 (though they seem to open a bit earlier than the advertised 12.00) but this is well worth a visit. Tamarind (assam) prawns are also great and the chicken in sour plum sauce, and pretty much anything you fancy. If you want a break from pure Malaysian flavours and feel like something a bit more Chinese this is just the ticket. Also - and a bit more downhome but with great pork (BBQ, belly, honey) and roast duck - try the (weirdly-named) Sky Hotel just round the corner on Chulia St (no English menu, but they'll tell you what to do!).

Note: Tek Sen closes on Tuesday (but there's usually a crowd of backpackers waiting anyway since the Lonely Planet guide doesn't mention this. Or the roast pork. Don't miss it if you're there - it really is that good!)

“BEST MEAL IN PENANG”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

Thanks to Trip Advisor, we found another beauty. Packed with locals and the food and service were first class. Had to wait 10 minutes for a table, after the meal would have waited an hour. This is Penang at it's brilliant best

“Fabulous food”
Reviewed 4 October 2013 via mobile

The food at Tek Sen is truly fabulous. I really loved the twice cooked pork with chilli. Garlic chicken was total flavour and the sides of winged beans with belucan and broccoli with prawns were excellent. Beer is by the bottle with Tiger, Guinness and Carlsberg at reasonable prices.
