“Budget Accommodation at its worst.”

I decide that I would stay at this Hotel on the recommendation of a "friend".

Take my advice, not as a friend, but as a traveller, and give this place a wide berth.
There is very little in the rooms apart from a TV that shows either local or Chinese stations and not very of them at that.
There is no kettle in the room though there is a Water Machine at the end of the corridor if you want a coffee.
There is no restaurant attached, though it looks as though there was one recently deceased, this is exacerbated by the fact that there is no fridge in the room so you cannot even buy food and keep fresh.

There are a couple of Malls within 10 mins walk.
Be aware that it is not the easiest location on the island to find a taxi either.

Definitely one to miss next time.

You can get better value for money closer in to town. Stayed one night then moved a bit closer into Georgetown for a room with better wifi and a cheaper cost. Rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean though, although walls very thin could hear traffic noise quite badly.

Wouldn't stay again, service wasn't very helpful, not great location and you can get better int he area for the cost.

So disappointed when walk in to room. The room door is open n inside is dirty if smoke mark. Check with the reception say the room door open is be course the early rental smoke inside the room. We ask to change room
the receptionist give a reason say she don't know how to change. The more terrible is she ask me to change on tomorrow morning. We just stay 1 night, the next day 12noon we have to checkout! Then say say no choice you just write a feedback then..

I have stay there for 2 nights for Penang bridge marathon. In overall, the room is clean, tidy & spacious enough for 4 of us. The bed quality is good, air-cond is cold enough. The location is good also because it is near to the town, and we can reach easily when looking for good food.

We are very lucky because we booked the hotel early, 3 months ago before the race. The hotel was fully booked by mostly the runners.

Just that the room don't have any window and hair dryer. Maybe we should request from the receptionist but this is not really important. What really matter us is the sleeping quality. This is because we have to get enough sleep before the run and it was really satisfying us the most.

Not sure how good is the wireless network because we used our own mobile data.

I personally / strongly recommend this hotel for budget stay.

Booked 2 days, wifi is super lousy. Cant connect all the time. Called the receptionist and he said many people complaining but boss refuse to do anything. Need towels as the Housekeeping did not put it in. Call receptionist, ask me to go down myself to pick up. ( I was still wet after my bathing) sound so ridiculous!!! He is the only one in the hotel.
Forget about this hotel.

Room was averagely okay, very sparcely furnished but being a budget hotel, nothing to complain about. Spacious bathroom and rain shower was the greatest part of it. Near to 1st Avenue and there is a great eating place nearby with lots of great chows at night. However, free wifi was extremely disappointing. Virtually inexistant on the 3rd floor and reception staff who reset the wifi was unable to improve the situation. Wrote email to manager who replied promptly and changed our room to the 1st floor for the next day which helped slightly. Wifi was still rather sporadic but at least better than before.

The room appeared clean so we were happy about it, until we had to freshen up when we discovered a filthy towel, I mean it was a used towel!!! It still had some person's dirt and smell on it. I called the front desk who informed me they had no room attendants at the moment so she'll personally bring one 5 minutes later. I mean if the room attendant can't change a towel then it puts into question the cleanliness of the room. It might appear clean but who knows? I would not recommend this place because of the cleanliness issue.

In the evening, the hotel's surrounding area was dark with rats scurrying about but the mall (2nd avenue) was about 500 meters away and the hawker restaurant recommended by the tourism brochure was 300 meters away so it was good nonetheless.
