“Not really malaysien !”
Reviewed 28 December 2013 via mobile

We were disappointed. The reviews indicate a very good restaurant, It was average. Moreover there is only 3 malais dishes to select from ! But you can get pizza.

“Come and meet Rick, the owner/waiter”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

As per all the rave reviews in this space, I concur, the food is really good.

But this place is not just about the food. It’s really about the owner Eric, or Rick as he likes to be called. He befriends every customer which in turn creates an air of community and a sense of well -being. When I remarked to Rick that he had a great business, he replied that he loves his work, and this is apparent in the way he relates to everybody. It is a small place and he waits on all the tables personally.

The venue itself is quite funky, with mismatched tables and walls full of messages from past clientele (see my photos), some of which he often refers to during conversations he has with his customers.
He was oblivious to his Trip Advisor rating and to what people had been writing, so I read to him some of the reviews, which obviously pleased him.

We left at the end of the evening feeling like we had made a new friend in Penang.

It is located just around the corner from Chulia on Love Lane. Be aware that he only opens at 4pm, so don’t plan to go for lunch like we did the first time.

“Great place to spend your night”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

During my visit in Penang, we always pass by Micke's Place but never step in. The last day of staying in Penang, we decided to have dinner in this place. Micke's Place is small but homey. The light is dim but comfortable. The hosts is very friendly, we don't know what to order, she came and sit beside us for a little chat. The food is good! In overall, I guess we are very lucky because before we leave, we get a chance to have dinner this cozy place.

“Awsome Place”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

This is one of the greatest restaurants in Georgetown.
The hosts are one of the nicest and funniest people I've ever met.
If you like some good western food in a great atmosphere go there. It was a great experience during our trip in Malaysia and we are really lucky that we found this cozy nice place.

“Old Penang students should dine here at least once.”
Reviewed 9 December 2013 via mobile

If you like to recall the experience of seating at a school desk, this is the place. They have school desks from primary school till form 3 I think. Believe it or not, food is served on them! The food is good and the brownies are "approved by Belgians". My nephews seem to agree. On the walls are graffiti from patrons around the world. Looks like they have run out of wall space and customers will start on the ceiling next. Didn't meet Micke but Eric was on hand to serve. Friendly service and good company. A small place but that is what makes it charming.
