The hotel, being slightly older ( but undergoing renovations) has large rooms! with two comfortable lounge chairs and our had a wonderful view over the bay.....spectacular at night!
Easy walking distance to Chinatown, Chew Jetty, Little India and all the wonderful old buildings, now being preserved thanks to a Unesco listing.
Great staff, with good local knowledge, and excellent English

Room Tip: maybe ask for a view of the bay

This is by far the worst place I've come across during my recent travel in Malaysia. I happened to be at this hotel as I arrived in Georgetown in the evening after a long journey and without having planned to overnight here. Thus I chose hotel Malaysia due to its central location which seems to be the only advantage (but other options turned out to be available the following day at a more careful inspection).

The room was dirty. Sink and sanitaries in general may have seen several generations of hotel guests. Air-con is centralized so that there is no chance to switch it off or regulate it at your will: you've just to freeze.

The service was poor and inefficient. The overall quality/price ratio is certainly the lowest I've experienced in Malaysia. Avoid this place.

old, mouldy, cranky front desk staff, terrible breakfast, very very slow and tiny elevators, in need of renovations, dirty floors, old worn towels and only 2. Although if you've been backpacking and staying at hostels, this may be great. Staff at the front desk were really rather miserable.

Nice breakfast, friendly staff, complimentary with newspaper early in the morning, parking lot available either outdoor or indoor.

We stayed at level 6, if you demand for a very quiet environment for sleeping, please request for room above level 6 as there is singing performance beside the Hotel.

Very good location. We walked to the Camera Museum, Chocolate Museum, and some of the street art. A lot of nice food stall just next to the hotel.

Good choice for budgeted trip.

Room Tip: 1. Rooms above level 6 are quieter.

Its a pretty average Hotel, nothing to write home about. For the price, RM130 per night, its reasonable. The main key for me at least is its location.

It is being renovated, so by the looks of things, many of the concerns expressed about it being 'worn' will be dealt with in time.

There is a Wifi charge for RM8 a day. These days, almost every establishment provides this for free, not that RM8 is a fortune, nor am I cheap either, its just a case of.....charging for the sake of it. Its a minor annoyance as in 'hang on, another RM8'. Include it in the room rate and stop pretending its RM130 per night per room, just make the rate RM138 per room per night and have done with it.

I'm just the kind of traveller who wants to crash and sleep after a days travelling, but the hotel is in need of attention, and I can see that. The Breakfast, again for me, nothing special. A bowl of noodles some tea, ok. You do get what you pay for, and this hotel really is an example of that. Nothing special, but it does the job.
