“Beautiful buildings in the midst of serenity”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

I love this hotel for its beautiful buildings and the serenity lake that surrounds them.Staying there for 4 nights gave us unforgettable moments. This hotel is also nice with 4 areas of different architecture designs. The surrounding area of Putrajaya is also beautiful with their great architectural buildings.

The hotel is big and its funny that sometimes we got lost there. It might be the signboards that made us confused. The bed was comfortable and superb as well as the decoration of the room was unique. I spent lots of time jogging around the area and it really refreshed me. Their pool is also marvelous for you to get relaxed. They also got pool for children.

Nevertheless, there were lots of government-related activities e.g.training,course,seminar etc here and the hotel is publicly accessible. Sometimes,I think the quality of the breakfast was effected because of that gov functions. And I couldn't deny the fact that I felt less star for this hotel because of its lack of privacy.

There is sport complex nearby and our colleague at that time got his food from that area. When I jogged in that area, I saw some tourists were having fun with the water activities there.
I think you need to have car to move around because I don't think this is a place where the public transportation is easily accessible but you might ask help from the receptionist to get the cab.

The hotel is located at the heart of Putrajaya which is the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. It is 40 minutes away from KL city and the nearest shopping hall is about 15 minutes away.

There is a peaceful lake at the back of the hotel and it is very quiet at night. I think the hotel is relative a safe place as it is surrounded by many government offices.

We stayed one night at the Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside in August 2013. The hotel sits by a series of lakes at around 20 km from the airport and 30 km from Kuala Lumpur. It’s a large complex with rooms being distributed over different blocks. The hotel is constructed in a pastiche oriental style that flirts heavily with kitsch. It seems to find its clientele primarily amongst airline crews and Middle-Eastern nouveau-riches families that are on various stages of travel to and from the airport. Finding your way in the hotel is actually not that straightforward with corridors meandering in labyrinthine fashion through the various buildings. Given the size of the hotel, the reception area is surprisingly small. Check-in took long and even though we arrived at 4 pm our room was not ready yet so that we had to wait in the lobby area. When we were finally led to our room we found it to be spacious but dark and with a very high ceiling. The room had a sideway view of the lake where later that night a firework competition was held for the occasion of Merdeka (Malaysian Independence Day). Despite the ample size of the room, and the presence of all the regular accoutrements (aircon, minibar, hair-dryer, flat screen TV, etc.) it felt unpleasant. I believe the high ceiling and the dim, dark interior that was further accentuated by dark wood tones in the furniture, must have been at the basis of this. Since the hotel is in the middle of nowhere dinner options are pretty much limited to the hotel. We decided to eat at the BS restaurant (what a name!...). Options consist of a buffet or an à la carte version of the buffet. We went for the buffet. I had heard many good things about Malaysian food and was looking forward to our first dinner on Malaysian soil. Sadly enough I was going to have to wait until the next day because the food at the hotel was downright obnoxious. Mussels that were so over-cooked that they could have easily served as replacement for flip-flop soles. Third rate beef that was an assault on the jaw muscles. Horribly flavored curries. Vegetables that were cooked to a pulp. Pizzas that were burnt. Stale bread. Sad salads with wilted leaves. To top it all the hotel staff was as attentive as a bunch of grazing cows watching an express train pass by. This was beyond any shadow of a doubt the worst dinner experience in two weeks in Malaysia.

What are the good points of the hotel? Well, not that many. It’s not too far from the airport (although 20 km?...). It’s in a nice location by the lake. It’s generally clean. The rooms are big and quiet. The bedding is excellent and the mattresses are comfortable. And I guess that’s about it. Final conclusion: OK for one night when going to or coming from the airport. However, do look for something else if you need to stay longer.

Room Tip: If you must stay in this hotel you can just as well try to get a room with a lake view. That might...

My boyfriend and I love short getaways.

This time my boyfriend booked a room in this hotel. He has asked for a bath tub room with balcony, which he has paid extra for it.

Pros:

1. However, when we reached there, we got a balcony room but it had no bath tub. Nevertheless, the room is pretty and located further from the centre therefore it was quiet and peaceful just like how my boyfriend and I would loved it. However, the room was more suited for businessman rather than for a romantic getaway.

We requested for a room change and got one with a jacuzzi in a room albeit no balcony. However, this was an even better room. It was really beautiful and I enjoyed every moment of it. The amenities provided were of really good quality (which is rare as most hotels provide rather low quality amenities) and I love the weighing machine in the room! The room is really clean and beautiful.

2. The hotel is really beautiful with different concepts. We wandered around the hotel to see all the different rooms and were really fascinated. We could also enjoy a beautiful lake view and I love the breeze from the lakes.

3. We ate the buffet for dinner. They were kind enough to accomodate us to a nice seat with view. I would say the food is nothing amazing but the staff are really friendly and accomodating, helping us to take lovely photos whole night. Anyway, I love the breakfast though, loved the small yogurt tubs.

4. The hotel is near to the Putrajaya bridge which we could just drive out and enjoy the view.

5. When we checked out, the staff actually apologised to us that they did not manage to see our special request for the room. I was rather pleased with such professionalism.

6. We arrived early and we could immediately checked in without any delays. Thumbs up.

Cons:

1. I noticed that anyone could actually enter the hotel premises as they were not blocked from the public who used the place for sports. This might be slightly dangerous to the hotel guests. I hope management could take note of this.

2. The second room that the hotel management changed for us was apparently not ready to be occupied yet as they did not manage to paint a small part of the ceiling before we come in. Probably they did not expect us to change rooms suddenly. However, one of the staff came in and told us to let them know when we were out so that they could paint it for us immediately so that we could enjoy the best room and assured us there would not be any smell bothering us with the newly coated paint. I am not sure whether they painted our room when we were out for dinner or so but I definitely noticed no paint smell.

Overall, this is a lovely hotel. Would definitely come back.

This was my first ever stay in Pullman Lakeside Putrajaya. Three of us including my 4 years old son went for a short 2 days 1 night stay there from 17-18 August 2013 as part of Hari Raya Aidilfitri getaway. We choose Pullman Lakeside based on recommendation from few friends whom stayed there before. The exterior just amazing, blend with Malay, Mediterranean, Borneo architecture, it makes you feel as if you're in somewhere outside Malaysia. The landscape, gardens & spacious walking area makes it easier for family with children like us to mingle around. We booked for a apartment wing actually, situated at the same building with the lobby, the only problem you have to walk like you're in a maze or such, too many left right turn to get to the room. It was spacious somehow with family traveling with children's, they have small pantry for basic cooking, microwave, living and dining area but the view not so recommended as it facing the construction building. As this is our first stay there, for sure we want to make it memorable, so I requested to changed to another room and kind enough the Guest Service Manager Alawi Talib who entertained us upon arrival understand the frustration and gave us upgrade room to Borneo Wing, we get to stay in the Manukan Suite instead. This time the we get the lakeside view. The room is huge with a living separated with the bedroom, a coffee maker, bath tub and large balcony area. The only problem is that our rooms is full of small ants maybe because the Borneo wing structure is based of wooden structure, no lights at the balcony area and the bath tub conditions, the water pressure very slow & no higher rain shower at the bath tub. Other than that we totally enjoyed the Manukan Suite and the view for sure. The staffs are friendly, the breakfast I can say average as its more to Asian than Western. My son had fun there as they have playroom for kids, swimming pool, we rented bicycle and went cycling surround the huge hotel area & lakeside. The hotel also is a great location for those planning for an outdoor wedding. Next door is Putrajaya Maritime & Water Sports Complex where they also provided few halls for any events. Overall, it's a great location for a short getaway especially for those who seek for privacy, away from the city hustle bustle as it is a bit secluded.

Room Tip: The lakeside view is definitely value for money and you won't regret it and for sure room with h...
